Master 1410 White Plains NY | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread Sushi was in the resort. Only sushi place in town. Very good! Only other IM I have done is Placid. This is way easier than that race (In my opinion). Much less elevation on the bike. Maybe the zero wind factor helped, but I recall riding through the gorge @ Placid and hating life due to that headwind tunnel it creates that just beats you down. |

I would be pretty pleased to have it easier than LP as I did fairly decent there. |

I can only compare MT with IM 70.3 Muskoka (Ontario). The ride and the run are less hilly at MT. It's a fast circuit up to the last out and back where you find some hills. This last part is more technical than the first 70 km. The run is flat till the last km. I was 30 min faster in MT compared to Muskoka and the improvement came mostly in the bike portion. |

Master 1410 White Plains NY | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread For those of you looking for things to do before or after the race, or for your family during the race, they have an awesome ziplining course up above the resort. My sister and I tackled it after the race and had a blast! I HIGHLY recommend doing this. Pretty scary being 60 feet up in a tree when a huge gust of wind comes blowing through! http://www.swicyclorun.com/2012/06/what-i-did-2-hours-after-i-finished.html |

I agree with you 100% on the bike course, but saying that the run course is flat but the last 1km is not quite right IMO. Here is the graph from my run, it may not be 100% exact but it still gives an idea.

Elite 3595 Quebec, Canada | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread As far as comparing the course. IMO the bike course is easier than Placid and Syracuse. It might compare to Timberman but I think that Timberman as more flat section. For the run course I have never run Placid so I can not say. It is easier than the new course at Syracuse and probably about the same as Timberman. |

Elite 3595 Quebec, Canada | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread Oh yeah Timberman is a nice one too! But I really think that Tremblant is THE course right now that everyone should do at least once. It is just gorgeous I might be biased a bit since it is almost in my backyard but the bike course was just freaking nice If you want to see some really nice pics http://nathaliemadore.com/galerie/sport/triathlon-4/ |

Extreme Veteran 981 Maryland | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread is anyone else out on the course with us this week? we are swimming today and doing one loop of the run. tomorrow is one bike loop before heading out. yesterday we rode both bike loops, and i got about 3 hours of video of the ride if anyone is interested. we rode pretty slow so 3 hours doesn't cover the whole course, but i did get the lac superioir section. it's hard to judge the hills on the video though.i agree that it's an easier course than lake placid. it felt like wisconsin in a way, at least in the lac superior piece. rt 117 is just long ups and downs, and windy. the last 7 miles of each loop is pretty fast, with rollers where you can use the downhill to get up the next hill. |

Where on 117 did you experience wind? For the 70.3, there was ZERO wind on the course, which was nice THAT DAY, but I kept thinking about what it COULD BE for the 140.6. Details? |

For the 70.3, there was ZERO wind on the course, which was nice THAT DAY, but I kept thinking about what it COULD BE for the 140.6. Details? Maybe it was a weird weather pattern for the week or something. But I went back out on Saturday morning as well and it was there again, although not as strong this time. I tried to keep track of the wind this time since you asked, and it just seemed like 75% of the "out" section of rt 117 was a headwind. It was getting worse going up mountain overpasses and then down the other side. The only spot where there was a little side wind that got me a little off balance was coming up to the Conception exit right here. Since that spot is on a downhill, I was going pretty fast both times when the side wind would push me around a little, but nothing too worrisome like the Hawi hill on the Big Island or anything. In general my 2nd day of biking, rt 117 felt pretty fast. But that may be because I did Lac Superior before I did it. :-) The swim training was awesome. They have buoys set up for us that head off to the side of the lake. The sign makes it seem like it is 2.4 miles but you'd have to swim beyond the buoys to get that much in. The water was super clear. The temp was fine for no wetsuit. It was a bit chilly in spots but I'd swim no wetsuit if I wasn't racing. The run course has one noteworthy hill which we won't mind on the first loop but will be awful the 2nd time around. The town we run through is pretty neat, before jumping on a rail-trail-like trail. The bugs were awful, a local guy said they were deer flies. He said they had just treated the area as well. We were running about the time that we'd run the race, so maybe some bug spray will go in my special needs in case I care. I prefer to keep "in case" items in special needs rather than in transition bags, to keep things simple.

Excellent to know about the bugs - hadn't thought of packing some bug spray but now will! How's everyone else doing? Finally going up for a nice training weekend on Friday. Looking forward to it thanks to all the positive reports from everyone! |

Elite 7783 PEI, Canada | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread I just want to know how the heck it's only a month away?????????????? For me: swim is great, really happy with it. Bike is pretty good, hoping it will all come together 100% in the next two weeks Run is iffy - I keep having on and off tightness in my left calf that I'm really hoping doesn't turn into something more serious. I'm being careful with it but it is causing me to miss a bit of training. |

Veteran 241 | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread Yeah....only a month until game time!!!! I went from saying I can't 25 weeks ago to I can now...my training is going well. Doing finks competitive plan. This will be my first so just finishing would be great but if all the stars align, I should be around 12 hours...best of luck to all of you and stay healthy during your training peaks. |

Extreme Veteran 981 Maryland | Subject: RE: Ironman Mont-Tremblant : Official Thread Thank you for posting the bib numbers! :-) I'm sure they'd be accepting more people if it was a wave or time trial start, a la Louisville. Plus it would be noteworthy enough to say it. A mass swim is part of the Ironman experience, I would frown on it any other way. |
