Thanks everyone for the inspires.  I think I just really haven't been getting enough sleep.  Made sure the last few days that I paid attention to getting enough sleep and feel great today.

LOL, now I have to get a couple good training sessions in between now and my race on Sunday but playing Golf with my Brother and my son on Friday, I volunteered at a road race on Saturday and then I race on Sunday.

Up until now I didn't have any goals for this weekend but just thought of some.

1. start swim right in the middle of the pack
2. Don't be a spaz in T1
2. Ride a smart race, don't ride it like I am riding a TT, it's cool to avg 23mph but if that takes all of your energy, doesn't work well for a tri
3. run a mental free 8k.  No phantom sticks, numb feet, phantom blisters, etc that have plagued me in anything more than a sprint
4. pay better attention to my nutrition, could be part of my run issues.

No real time goals, but race a complete race.

So at my OWS clinic, they told us to always start at the front.  The reason why is that the more faster people will have no problem passing the slower ones, but the slower people have trouble passing those that are only a little less slow.  I am going to try it on my next tri.

BTW - I love the "don't be a spaz in T1" goal!

hehe at least I am faster than this dude

Crazy to think that he's gone.  I've been a fan for as long as I can remember... even through the accusations.

Picked up my bike from the lbs today. Turns out the front hub was causing the dreaking, not the bottom bracket. I really missed this bike while it was gone. In a short while it has become a big part of my world. I got an DEG on my face when I got it back. BTW: The mechanic had to ride the bike to check out the noise. On thephone when he called to tell me it was ready he said "that is a really fast bike!" The lbs sells all the top brands so it made feel good that my baby was appreciated.

I know, I am strange.

DougRob - 2009-06-25 11:04 AM We're thinking of going to the beach early next week. My wife told me to wear normal swim trunks at the beach as my Tyr trunks are not appropriate. Cry  WTF? Laughing

LOL!  Jammers can be that way too!

swbkrun - 2009-06-25 1:37 PM John is doing the Buffalo Springs 70.3 in Lubbock this weekend! Go get John... We are pulling for you!

I also think Shannon is racing (her 1st?).

And I think Roni is doing the Seattle RnR MARATHON!!!!

John is going to do fantastic.  I am looking forward to his race report.

I think you are right about this being Shannon's first tri.  That should be a great RR too!

Popping in quickly to share this article on nutrition since it has been pretty popular lately.  Seems what I used yesterday, fructose, is a bad long term strategy.  Back to the drawing board.

Andy--if you are a strong swimmer or fast swimmer starting in the front seems like a great idea.  I somehow seeded myself that way last weekend and got plowed over by at least 50% of my wave who were all signficantly faster than me.   Might work for you, stupid for me.  I would rather have to swim around a poke or two.

Back later,

Morning everyone, getting ready to head out to play a round of golf, the start of a busy weekend.  Tomorrow volunteering for 2 shifts at a road race, directing angry motorists out of the way, should be fun, then racing on Sunday.

Good luck to everyone else racing this weekend.

Morning gang.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INSPIRES AND NOTES!  YOU GUYS RULE!!!

The bike fun continues. Chain started jumping in the fourth gear last night.  I'm going to try to get it in the shop this morning as it ships at noon today. We'll see.  I'm rolling either way.

So bike ships today, I fly up early tomorrow morning.  Lubbock is in a dry county so a bunch of us are having beer sent in to the hotel.

Damn. this is a mental game.  LOL! *not really lol*.

Tracy who is the guy in the blue shirt w/ the pink tires?

MILESTONE for me this morning, so I thought I would share.  I just did my first 10 mile run this morning.  (if you want to call it a run).  Actually, lets just say I kept it moving forward for 10 miles.  I tried to keep my HR in zone 2 and was able to do that for the full 10 miles which I thought was an accomplishment.  I walked a couple of hills when HR broke out of my zone, but actually very little walking.  Pace was in the 11 minute range, but I did bring it home the last 3/4 mile at 8.5 to 9 pace.

I think if I can get 8 to 10 more of these in prior to HIM I will be ready...I hope.  They have got to get easier right?

Good luck to all those racing this weekend, and to all those who aren't ...have a couple of good training days and a fun filled weekend.

I think we are off to the lake some this weekend where I will do an OWS and try to keep Anheiser Busch's stock in check since john is on the wagon till after his race.

Nice work Runner-man!! That is a big accomplishment. Whether you slowed down for parts of it or not, distance is distance!
And hey nice work picking up John's slack. Someone has to keep the Bud-train in motion.

So last night I had to say so long to someone that had been with me for quite awile, seen me from fat to not so fat.  She helped me train for and even competed with me in my first triathlon.

I've known this time was coming for a few months, but that doesn't make it any easier.  She was just holding me back, and it is time to move on.  This really is for the best.

Good bye old friend

So Matt, who have you been cheating on her with? We want PORN!!!

John, are you implying I look like a dude?  Don't know if I like that or not.  I'll let you come up with a snappy retort around mile 45 of the bike.  Please take care of yourself in that heat.  And have a great time. It's a fantastic experience and I am very jealous of you this weekend.

Sharron, I am envious of you as well.  First race....how exciting. What a wonderful time you're going to have and it is something you will always remember.  Best of luck to both of you!!!!

Running is in my future this weekend.  Officially started the marathon plan last week and I blew off my running last weekend for a longish bike ride.  I have to be a good girl this time.  Looking at running tonight, running tomorrow with 30miles on the bike, then a long swim on sunday.  Guess who is still at my house?????????  However, this has allowed for some mother-daughter bonding.  The girls want to go do something "just the 3 of us" and we decided on having their first visit to the nail salon. Now I can have pretty toes as I hammer them into the ground.  Besides, it is too warm for my wetsuit so I can have long nails for a while.  You know I am dedicated to my sport when I cut my nails to prevent ripping my wetsuit.  (yes I had to be girly for a minute.  Harden up guys Kiss

These title changes can be confusing!

Going to buy my 9 year old son a new bike tomorrow. He outgrew the old one and subsequently broke both bones in his right arm. So he has been without a bike for awhile. HE wants a green one.(?!) I have a busy day tomoorw with that and a lot of other stuff, so I am hoping it keeps my mind off of the race sunday.

Doug

I sent out some inspires, but if I missed anyone racing this weekend, Good luck and I am with you in spirit!

I have not purchased a replacement yet, I'm hoping to take care of that this weekend.  I do have it narrowed down to a few bikes, but you will have to just wait for the pics to see who I bring home with me.

If the new girl is too spendy, there could be divorce proceedings in the future as well   Just kidding, my wife is awesome!!

I got my bib # and swim start time just now. Something seems wrong. One of the guys I did the open water swim with is 126 people in front of me, yet I swam faster than him in the lake. MAybe he was dogging it. I hope I gave a good projected time. If not it could be an uncomfortable pool swim.

Linda (Havin'Fun): I think you are one of the first with bib # 34!
