SEADOCHA - 2012-07-14 10:00 PM Is anyone else feeling very lethargic in their taper. I've tapered for lots of races and don't ever remember feeling like this. My legs felt like lead this morning and I just wanted to lay in bed. After my work out I went to lunch, came home and took a deep nap for 2 hours. I could barely get up. I'm still really, really exhausted. Just glad it's the weekend I guess.

I'm miserably tired (I just yawned as I wrote that).  I've been napping since Friday.  And sleeping through the night.

I am unbelievably stiff.  I did my yoga poses yesterday and I felt pain and tightness in my legs and hips like when I first started doing yoga 4 years ago.  Definitely a tough Taper for me this year.

This what happens when we shock the system by just shutting the engine off.  It sucks for sure!

yup. same here. sooo stiff and very sore. Hoping to be zipping down Keene decent in exactly a week from now!

doctorbob18 - 2012-07-14 9:45 PM Does anyone know if/how friends and family from out of town can follow along online?

Race day coverage can be found at ironmanlive.com.

Also, you can rent (if its not too late) a GPS tracker at myathletelive.com.

**Ooops, just checked the website and they are no longer renting for Lake Placid.**

I ordered this but still have not received it? should I be worried? I asked for it to be sent to my home so I can mess around with it before the race and know how to use it and paid for a week but I leave wednesday and I haven't even received a shipping notice yet...

When did u order? I ordered last Tues. and recieved it Thursday.  On the site it said a large portion of their staff was racing this weekend but I'd call them first thing tomorrow and check status. They should be able to ship it to you for you to recieve it by Wed.  It is pretty easy to use but I understand, one less thing to worry about if it's in your hands.   Good luck!

I got my shipping confirmation on Friday.  I had mine sent directly to my hotel in LP.  Yep, you might want to give them a call tomorrow just to be sure (not sure if you can reach them today).

Hey guys

A few questions:

A few weeks back when I swam mirror lake I noticed there were a couple of yellow rope in the swim course, are they all gonna be there?  or just one wire that holds the big bouys?

Are there gonna be water station in the special needs area?

What time is the swim on friday?

OMG Im freaking out I feel like I forget a lot of things!

The golden runway will be there and in most cases you will be there because everybody homes to it. It was interesting watching the swim last year, when all the people on the right start to converge towards the line. Not sure about the special needs areaThe last I heard swim is on friday 9amI've been freaking out for two weeks now. Just finished pack attempt #206. I was able to pack everything into the five bags that will be paratrooped to mirror lake.
Thank Jason see u Friday!

Jmoney... I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Placid at 9:30 AM ... and right now it's 8:30 PM ... and I haven't even started packing yet!!  Just saying

Just remember, if you forget anything - it can be bought at the expo.  And most of us have done a 70.3 before.  It's not that much more prep.

If you're going mental - it's you doing it to yourself  Insane's in the membrane.  Insane's in the brain!

Question:  Is it mandatory to have reflective stuff on our run gear and if so what do you do?  Tape? Does it stay on?

Thanks!

Ouch!! Did the heat cause you to pass out?? That's not good!!?

I don't really know. I was done working out and had layed out on my deck to get some sun. I was really hot and when I stood up I felt dizzy and sick. Next thing I know I'm waking up in a small pool of blood. I have to say the little nap was great but I don't care much for my new look.

Bro, from now until the race the sun is your enemy. It will suck energy out of you, especially if you burn. Don't let us see you tanning on the beach. Your blood sugar was probably low from working out and on top of it the hot sun and humid weather sucked some more life out of you. Stay healthy

haha I have been doing this as well. I am excited that it gets dark late this time of year. Placid gets pretty cold at night... 40's-50's and I don't want to be running when the sun goes down for good. Yet I may have about 3-5 miles left in the dark. I am thinking of putting my arm warmers in my special needs run bag just in case. Although the high for Sunday went from 78 to 84 and a low of 56. Partly cloudy. the clouds will be a welcome sight at times during the race.

Well, weather.com says high of 84 and partly cloudy; AccuWeather says 79 and partly sunny. I'll take 79 and partly cloudy, one from each.

Starting to feel nervous now! Two more days at work, then we head out Wednesday morning for a long road trip (going to be interesting fitting in two training sessions while traveling). Hope we don't bring the 90-100 degree heat that we are having with us!

mmmmmmmmmm......

It seems to be heating up a little.  Every time i check the 10days, the sun Gods have added a couple more oF to the number.  Now reaching 84oF.

For those who raced last year, what was the top temp?  I seem to remember heading out on the run just before 3pm and it was HOT.  I feel that i was in the low to mid 80s.  My fiance said it was certainly "rather warm".

I had done a fair bit of training in the heat last year but less so this year.

Last year it was a lot warmer than high 70's! Lake placid had been in a heat wave and it had been reaching 90's consistantly up to race day and on race day I beleive it had hit 90 again if not high 80's.
