I just want to point out that I swam five times this week, and so far, I have spent more time in the pool this week than riding or running. That will change after I run tonight and tomorrow, but it's still pretty amazing for this non swimming manatee.

Just patting myself on the backLaughing

Well deserved!!!!!

Nice!!!!! I was noticing earlier that the swim color is conspicuously missing from my graph this week. Tomorrow is an OWS so that will help a bit, but i'm def slacking. Hat's off to you for getting it done!!!!

Wow, I don't know that I'd attempt a century after 11 months T.I.T.S.-less. As for the bet. You'll go as far as you want to Wink

I think you can finish it if properly motivated. Think bottle of wine!!!!

Ha, totally.

It's likely going to hurt.

THIS IS A FIRST: I came to my senses early and thought what will this century do to my marathon training that starts next week? I decided to put my ego in check and not worry about saving face or what others will think.  I am dropping to the quarter century.  It will still hurt (and I don't like the bike) but it hopefully will not cause as much damage.

I know I could do it, and finish, but having just done the Big Sur 21 miler off the couch, I would not recommend it to any of you, so why would I be any better.  I really must be focusing if wine is not even a motivator.  Bring on the goal!!!

Jeebus you people never shut up, can't imagine that

Welcome Elesa although I may have to call you Switch. Because I like switches. And whips. And riding crops and such, as Salty knows well.

I gotta run to meet a crazy piglet and then meet more crazy piglets and packet pickup and go pack up for the half-mary tomorrow (staying with Sven overnight near the race site. Maybe this will be a Yanti biathlon? Or duathlon? YEEES )

Hehehe. Yanti, I knew I liked you.  Switch suits me more than Elesa, for every reason you can imagine.

Good luck in your race tomorrow.

Good for you.  Why is it so hard for us to make these decisions sometimes?  I'm totally guilty of that, and I applaud you for adjusting your goal and thinking long term.  Very smart.

I don't have time to read the four pages but just popping in to say...

Firstly last night 9.5km run and felt great - comfortable, no leg aches and pains just easy.  Loved it - cold wet and dark.

Secondly - just had nearly two hours with Brenton Ford (Effortless Swimming Coach) - turns out he lives two roads away from me....stalking radar fully operational.

He's as hot in real life as he is in pictures.  not very tall (that's a triathlete thing)

Oh yeah the coaching - AWESOME!  He filmed us on his GoPro - as soon as I get that I'll post it on  here for her Yantiness and Skrat to analyse.  So conscious of holding my stomach in!

Was great to see though, all the things that Coach Johnny says right there on the screeen.  Brenton gave me specific drills to fix body position (so easy to swim once that was right) head position and then stroke.

Forking awesome.

Will go back in six weeks for a progress report.

Wow, triathlon community comes good.

Will report more later - off for lunch with DH.  DD is out at a Aussie Footy match with my cousin.

Dorothy at five swims, Jogo coming to her senses, wtf is this pod coming to?!

Bloody well gonna log "following Sven around" ... that idiot is the Energizer Bunny the day before a marathon. And he runs about 40 a year.

We're taking a motorbike to the mary. I'll probably drive it back. Wish me luck.

Ouch. How are you feeling now?

Not too bad actually. Need more sleep, but generally feel ok. That might change once I start a workout though. Lately I really never know for sure until I try to get going.

Ben, there are no numbers in here that I can relate to. This just looks brutal!

Seriously.  I couldn't even make the send-off time.

Just did a tune-up for the 3000 on Wednesday. Had to do 2 x 1500 at 5:55 per mile pace. My body isn't happy about this sustained speed thing. Now we're heading up to do our first training hike for Rainier. Something like 4500 ft in 2.5 miles with 35 lbs on my back

I wondered the same thing.  I put an elusive comment for everyone to check out what I considered your jogo for 6/13 and not one person commented in the forum about the vibrating pu$$y. (apparently p*ssy is a banned word here because it got taken out so I had to edit with $$ signs).

Yes, as much as we want to do things, it's quite easy to get carried away. Last year I probably overdid it with the number of century rides (among other things) and burnt up by the end of summer. This year I just have a few selected. I can handle more often, but would have to adjust the schedule to compensate, and that would likely compromise the overall training. I'll still be getting in 70-80 miles or so for the bigger Saturday rides, but have to keep it there. Going out to a century would be about an hour and some change more, which may not seem like that much for what's already being done, but I could feel the difference in the recovery. Took noticeably longer. It was fun, but was getting in the way of the harder workouts in the week, so performance and enjoyment went down later in the year. Decided not to do one today and it seems like the right choice.

I want to do more event rides, but they seem to jump from a metric century (~60 miles) to an imperial (~100 miles), so will have to see. I'll be getting up to see my brother sometimes though, and with the additional hills up there, a metric century should be fairly close to what I want when looking at time. Comparing a full century there and here, my average speed would likely be ~3.5 mph slower up there for similar power output.
