ANOTHER PODIUM SPOT FOR SWBKRUN SQUAD!!! Nicely done Shannon. Ryan-cocktails, boat rides, golf, great workouts! Hurry up and get over here. Quote from Austin this morning (11 years old). "Uncle Birdy, it is nice to just get over here and relax!"Matt- I am digging the new bike. I am a huge fan of the white. I think it looks sharp and fast. Happy thoughts to John today. 90 plus degrees doing Buffalo Springs!? A rockstar in my eyes!Reading from blackberry right now formatting sucks,so if I miss anyone or anything I am sorry.

Just got back from my second tri. The official results are not posted yet, but unofficially I placed 63/416 and 3rd in my age group with a time of 1:109:37. The run hurt as I got a side-stitch and had to walk a bit. Probably cost me a couple of minutes, which translates to about 20 places. Still my son is wearing my medal right now. Laughing

I'll let Linda announce her results. (Hint: she did great!)

BigReub - 2009-06-26 9:36 PM I hate to ignore a bunch of good posts and go straight to a question, but I need some input...

I am really starting to feel good in the water.  However, while flopping around with the kids this afternoon in the neighbors pool, I realized something...

I don't ever get a good breath IN.  I exhale while under water, but when I turn to breath I don't ever really get a good breath in.  It almost feels like I am just churning air in my mouse and throat rather than getting it to my lungs.

Back to exhaling under water...I came to my realization based on the fact that at some point I have a hard time exhaling.  It's because I'm not inhaling.

HELP!!!

I'm pretty confident, based on this past week, that my swimming will take off if I get this solved.
Thanks.

BigReub, for me it was a case of "slow your roll"  Once I slowed down on my roll, I could get a good deep breath - but you have to exhale under water almost all the way.

I tried sending him positive vibes yesterday afternoon.  I was going to go run as a tribute to him.  I checked the temp, it was 106 out.  I had a couple of beers instead - I think it was a fitting tribute!

Great job both Shannon and Doug.

My day went ok, not sure what happened on the swim, looked at my watch and was surprised I took so long.  Got kicked in the face by a breast stroker.

Ride was sketchtastic.  600 people on a 10k loop in one lane of traffic, I was either drafting or blocking the whole race as was everyone else.  The run was typical for me.  Saw all the work I had done on the bike go to waste as everyone ran by me.

Have to run 8 total miles today for plan so have to go back out and get in the last 3.  At inlaws now, will post RR when I get home so I know what my times were.

I am so pysched to come back from my ride and see all the great results from our cool team!  Doug, simply terrific again.  Shannon podiums and from what I hear Linda brought the house down.!  YEAH TEAM!

I had a fun morning doing one loop of the IM WI course starting in Verona WI. Nearly 2900 feet of beautiful climbing.  It really is a gorgeous area if anyone should want to give IM WI a whirl.  Only downside is I tried out my new aerobars in 30mph crosswinds.  Remind me not to do that again.   No bones were broken, but plenty of bloodflow. What a dope.  On the positive side, made some progress with nutrition.  Can't wait to do it again.

GO JOHN GO!

I think I may have figured out my sluggishness. I do not drink coffee, I have never even had a sip in my life. Instead I drink diet Pepsi. I got up at 4AM today, but I forgot my caffiene fix! That can't have been good. Live and learn.

One more teaser for Linda: Her bike seemed to go well. Official results to come.

Heres some positive vibes going out to Lubbock!

Back from my race (sprint) this morning.
First, I have to give a big thanks to Doug for "encouraging" me to sign up.  This race was my very first tri last year, and I only decided to do it to see where I stood compared to last year....that and Doug kept "suggesting" that I sign up.

I am happy with my race....for 5 reasons:
1)  I beat my time by .13 seconds.  Hey a PR is a PR.  I'll do a RR once the results are posted.
2)  I passed 7 people on the bike and only got passed by 2 - probably the most exciting part of the race for me  :-)
3)  The run course was changed from last year......much harder today!  Hills!
4)  I have been focusing on going long so a sprint was not really on my radar, and
5)  I took 2nd in my AG!

It was really cool hanging out with Doug waiting for the awards.....as we both represented this group on the podium  :-)
Way to go Doug!!!

Thanks to everyone for the inspires.

Linda:

Your even cooler in person than on-line. Considering the hillier course I would give the .13 seconds a little more weight!

Can anyone post a link to follow John's progress?

Agreed ...Thats a tough way to ride a bike. Good job Tony. We'll all have races like that. Shake it off and move on.
