I am taking the hotel bus or taxi when I pick the bike from TBT.....Going for my pre-race pedi on Wed...will have the Mdot on my toes too...looking forward to seeing everyone out there. So excited for this race. Thanks for the info on TBT...I guess we will have to ride our bikes from the convention center down to T1? Is that what everyone else is doing?
My hotel is almost as north as you can get of course...will they allow the bikes on the buses? |

I can't say I have lost weight, if anything I gained and all in the wrong places. Little training and eating like if I was training 30 hrs a week. Oh well.... My last OWS was back in August at a lake but I am sure the ocean swim will be a hell of a lot better than my last two IM races- all in the toxic waters you talked about- I still believe a lot of the athletes that got sick during the race was due to swallowing too much of the Ohio river.... HeatmizerKW - 2012-11-19 8:05 AM iM ready!Great ocean swim this morning, pack tonight, and then it is time to chill. Starting to gain weight back which is a really odd feeling having gone the opposite direction for 20 weeks. Ha! I lost no weight during training (eating like a horse may have had something to do with that) but I did notice that everything shifted around. I'm leaner and more toned from the waist up, and my pants are all tight in the thighs now, but that's all cycling muscle, so it's all good! Jealous of your ocean swim! There has been NO open water swimming here in Ohio for a while, and of course all we have are dirty green lakes and a scary toxic river anyway! I can imagine!! I did one tri in the Ohio River and I didn't get sick afterwards, but it smelled kinda funky and I took a very long shower after. I got the flu soon after doing an OWS in a local green lake over the summer. My last OWS was in Lake Erie, at Rev3CP. They cancelled the swim portion of the sprint tri the day before due to unsafe water conditions and it was still pretty choppy for Rev3. I think I've cured myself of my former fear of open water but I did start feeling woozy out there. I have completed the Louisville and the IMNY. Swimming the Hudson in August sounds bad but it was a fast swim and no bodies floating by - The Ohio was by far the smelliest of the two. Cozumel last year was not rough at all and as long as the wind holds off there should be no issue. It's a fun one loop swim. |

20 , Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Yep, I did get a tat to commemorate IMTX. I am not a tattoo person and always said that there were only 2 tattoos I would consider getting, Olympic rings or an Mdot. I was never going to make it to the Olympics, so Mdot it was!! Ironman is a very personal thing so my tat had to reflect that. In case nobody tells you, it hurts like hell getting it done... |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Hey all, I spent a week locked in a hotel in Chicago teaching for 10-12 hours a day, so no training aside from standing up all day, pushups and body builders. Better to show up undertrained than overtrained! Still hoping to break 12 hours.....we will see. 2 years ago, the expo ran out of CO2. I am sure it won't be a repeat, as I can imagine businesses expect an increase in demand. For the girl who asked about cycling to T1-If you are north, as in downtown, it is about a 6 mile ride. I did it two years ago and it was great. Plenty of taxis back to downtown to your hotel. Hope to get a chance to meet some of you all. This is a great race and I am really looking forward to doing it again. |

Didn't get pukey or anything, just the tiniest bit seasick and disoriented. Husband snapped a pic of me mounting my bike in t1 and I look like I'm about to topple over....or maybe I just always look like that! |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Hey All, Just wanted to mention something for all those who are flying to cancun and taking ground transport to the ferry dock in Playa del Carmen. It is a short walk from where the taxis drop you to the dock. There are often people there who will happily use a large wheelbarrow to transport your stuff down to the docks. This can be a big help, as if I remember correctly, some of it is over cobbles, which eat the wheels on luggage. So bring some extra cash if you are interested in the service. |
