Expert 1274 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread KSH - 2011-12-12 1:26 PM So annoyed. I got sick Friday night. Wiped out physically all weekend. Which means NO TRAINING for me for THREE days. I know better now... than in February or March... but still annoying. I'm with ya. Came home from work about 3:30 this morning just feeling like I wanted to rip my nose and the front of my face off. Woke up feeling marginally better about an hour ago. I think it is all my fault though since I rode in the cold/rain yesterday. I'm sure it will be better in a day or so. Heal fast and get back out there! |

Nice!!!!! I'm free to start up again on Wednesday. So I'll be doing an hour in the pool before work. After work I have a 15 minute easy run and then 30 minutes with my personal trainer. Then I'm going to watch a client get his VO2 testing for the run. We are hoping his zone 2 numbers have gone up so he can run faster when he has to run slow. Ha! Thursday, I have 1:15 on the bike trainer, then a 15 minute run. Friday, I have a 1:30 run after work. Then I'm going out to dance till 3:00 AM. Wish me luck on THAT one! Ha! Saturday, off. Sunday, 1:00 on the bike then a 15 minute run. I am so glad I will get to train again! I dreamed about riding and running last night! |

I'm right there w/ you! I'm running tons - as always. I'm a runner. And biking is fun, and not hard to motivate, but swimming is hard. It takes so much more work to get to the pool. I did manage to get a swim in yesterday. Now if I can only make that a habit.

Considering what other triathlon items costs, Masters are one of the more affordable things you can do. I'm joining one at my gym that's $35 a month. And nothing will get you swimming longer and harder than swimming in a masters group. |

I am a teacher, so the next 2 weeks I am off I plan on swimming to get in shape to be punished. I also have a group in Houston I can use for free, but it is 60 miles away. I will swim and swim hard for IMTX this year, I promise this to myself! |

Movers come to take my trainer away next week, hopefully the weather will cooperate and let me get outside for the last few days I'm here. 18 days. Waiting at home for me is a new wheelset with powertap, joule 2.0, and a set of rollers....not to mention all the friends and family we haven't seen in too long. And some cold weather. Can't wait. |

Extreme Veteran 578 Katy, Texas | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread Morning everyone. First things first, whos freaken idea was it to have me start strength training again after not doing so for about 18 months???? Oh-yeah its was mine. Boy is my chest sore. LOL seriously though I am glad i am starting back at it. I really enjoyed the workout. I started a new routine that I think I am realy going to like. I was looking for one that I could do at home or at the small gym at work. I found this routine that uses only dumbells. The only thing I changed was to add my own core routine with it. So far it works pretty good. ??http://www.building-muscle101.com/dumbbell-workout-routine.html Anyways, today I have a run at lunch and then a swim tonight when I get off work. Happy training all. |

Yep, we're going to start the New Year with a trip from Okinawa to Virginia Beach, via Tokyo, San Francisco, and D.C. Traveling on the 1st with 4 kids (7, 6, 4, 11mo) and a dog. Sounds like fun right? The kids are great travelers so no worries there. We're just wondering how long the layovers are going to be because you know it's not going to be as smooth as it looks. |

26 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I have done 2 IMs w/ minimal swimming. Like TriPatrick, I'm going to try to step that up a notch this year. My goal right now is 2 swims a week. I think that's doable. I'll increase to 3 then 4 as we get closer. Masters are great, unfortunately, single mom and full time job mean I need to get workouts in when I can. So not really able to make it on routine basis. I wish I could. I had a miserable 10 mile run this a.m. First 4 were great, then downpour and from then on I froze. managed to lose my house key somewhere as well, so had to pound on my door until one of my kids woke to let me in. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger - I hope Happy training everyone.

The story is close to me because my wife and I knew Marcus in college so this story is close to home.

They really are easy travelers. I flew from Okinawa to Maryland in 2010 for IMLP with the 3 older ones alone. 2 suitcases and my bike case, three stops, two trips through customs and it was smooth as silk. It's this new one that seems like a trouble maker but I'll let the wife take care of her since she's got milk on "tap" it will be easier for her to keep the baby calm. The others are no problem. |
