Honestly, I don't see why they don't just use play money...almost no one really goes home with much of the cash.  Or maybe as a twist in the future they could use some survivor-specific currency like advantage in the challenge...some challenge where they could get a time advantage let's say (like on a puzzle).  So each person would have 50 seconds...they could use their seconds to buy food if they feel confident or save them for the challenge.  Would be rather interesting...

I wonder if anyone noticed, Denise specifically, that Malcolm has never considering playing his idol for anyone other than himself.  Didn't they find it sort of "together"?  I remember thinking it was bold on his part, dumb on hers, to let him pocket it without an agreement of some kind.  I wonder if Denise will think to ask him to use it for her.   Abi, et al, voted for Denise only because they knew Malcolm has the idol.  So they will probably vote for her again. 

Malcolm is good at appearing to be the good guy when it's basically all words.

Denise has never been on the chopping block except for this week. It hasn't come up really. And we have no way of knowing what the talk is off camera. Malcolm has been on the chopping block... I have no doubt he would play it for anyone but him.

Personally though, I think everyone does not expect someone to give them the idol... I mean it would have to be for a a "REALLY" good reason. To give the idol to someone that is getting voted out, and using it to blindside taking someone else out... has to work perfect, and know body can see it coming, and it can't be a split vote possibility like most are when everyone knows of an idol... so a LOT of "if" there to make it worth it... and then you are out an idol and vulnerable at the NEXT tribal. Very few people are going to give an idol to someone, and in Survivor, possession is 10/10th of the rules.

I guess my point is I would not take it personal... I would not expect someone to give it to me... or have "access" to it for use.

To me, that seems to be the trend.  A "team" will go look for it together, but the person who actually pics it up first, always seems to keep it and no sharing...

It's so rare.  I think there was that ONE time Parvati did it...she had two idols and played both for other people...HUGE bold move.  I think that's the time she finally won.

Basically, if you were going to play your idol for someone else:
1. You would have to REALLY trust your alliance.  As in SOLID trust.
2. You'd have to do what Parvati did and tell NO ONE so that it would work as a blindside. 

You would basically be doing this to save someone in your alliance while tipping the numbers in your favor.  So, last night really would not have been a good night for Malcolm to play the idol for Denise.  Yes, he would have saved someone in his alliance, but the numbers would have still been 3-3 afterwards so he wouldn't have gained much there.

As others have said...a group might look for the idol, but whomever puts their hands on it first is technically the owner...you can make any pact you want but that pact cannot be enforced...

Well, calmer heads prevailed...and they kept the "can't win in a million years player" around.  But can you imagine being Abi and watching this on TV right now?  I actually feel horrible for her....remind me not to say mean things about people in the interviews if I am ever on this show....

But did anyone else want to SCREAM at Lisa after Malcolm won immunity and say, "YOU COULD STILL VOTE OUT DENISE!"

*sigh*  Missed opportunity.  I know Malcolm has a free pass next tribal, but he doesn't after final four...he'd HAVE to win immunity again or you could ditch him.  That is easier for you if you ditch Denise too.

Family visit was weak this time...no extra food for the survivors!

Not much else to say about this episode I think...maybe I'll come up with something later.

EXACTLY.... Denise was the right vote if you want to get rid of Malcolm. Yes, voting Denise out would have changed the game.

But that was risky, I mean you "ditch" the four obviously. Malcolm is isolated.... he HAS to win immunity or he goes home... If he does win immunity... he wins the game period. So force it.

But in the end, Carter was the safe bet. He still is a threat... but I'm not sure of his chances fro victory if he makes it to the end. It would depend who he was with.... heck if you leave him in, he has chance to take immunity from Malcolm. Denise was the bright strategic vote for everyone except Malcolm.

SOOO over Lisa. She seems the type that has spent years and years in a therapist's office that did not get her moneys worth... but the therapist did. She has no chance of winning if she makes it to 3 regardless of who she is with. Just a guess, but I do not think she comes off as someone people respect. Very wishy washy.... and yes, giving her reward was smart... but it also was risky for exactly what it did. She goes where the wind blows, and you do not want a strong rested outsider blowing wind on her in YOUR game.

Abi.... never mind.

Skupin is hanging in there. Not sure how many votes he will get as a "returning" player. His original tribe was not fond of him and they are all one the jury.

Malcolm... awesome win to get to final 4. I'm sure he would not give the idol to Denise if he thought she was going to get voted out. He does need her... but I was not sure who you would go after if you played the immunity to get someone else. Again, if he is in final 3, he wins.

If Malcolm wins the next immunity he will probably let Denise use his idol (unless he really wants a souvenir).

We will see... so far he seems to be out for himself. Not a judgment at all. Depends if he feels the need to win. That's what you see some people do, it's just a guess. As long as they are safe they do not try hard. BUT, he NEEDS too. He can protect Denise, he can keep his options open as to who gets voted out next. Winning immunity would be good for him.

So let's speculate.... Malcolm and Denise are in final 3... with anyone else. Does Denise have a shot at winning for being "under the radar" and some not wanting to vote for Malcolm because he "beat" them?

... and I'm not saying Denise is a coat tail rider... went to EVERY tribal before the merge. Never been on the block. Won immunity once, tough competitor, nice, likable... good social and physical player, even if she has not "racked up" a bunch of immunity wins.

I think Denise will get respect just because of the original tribe she came from and were losing so bad with Malcom.  Malcom seems to be the man to beat since he is strong and has played a very strategic, physical and socially likeable game.  Talk about down and out he and Denise were losing EVERY immunity and their tribe had to eat their own. 

Smart for Malcom to shore up Skupin and Lisa to make sure they were on board for the next vote assuming he didn't win immunity. Denise isn't crazy so she doesn't seem to get all worked up over not getting a reward or family visit. 

Wow Carter's Mom is tiny tiny.  I hate to say it but I probably would have voted the same last night.  Carter is to much of a threat and seems likeable enough and he could win his way into the final 3 and it seems their alliance of 4 is strong. The interesting thing will be who the 3 is and who is on the outside. I'm hoping Lisa just for the wishy washy part of her game.  I know it's easy for me to type this and say for her to just DECIDE but in the game it can make all the difference in the game. 

This is the best group in a long time.  All are playing and nobody is just sitting back and riding coat tails.  It seems like Denise is just keeping her head down and staying out of the drama but now she is getting sucked in since it was Penner who would engage Abi and now it's her.  We'll see how that plays out but Abi is not in a position of power and she is VERY smart about choosing her words. 

I'll be happy if any of the final 4 win.  They were all on the outs at some point in the game.  As long as Abi doesn't win I'm okay.

While I agree that Carter was a good choice over Abi, I think it was a bad idea to keep Denise.  NOT only because she's a contender, but she will always vote to keep Malcolm.   Now if they get a chance to vote for Malcolm, they have one less vote against him with Carter out.  Right now they are still fine, but what about next week when they stupidly vote out Abi?  Then it's 2:2.  Dumb Dumb Dumb.  

So, yes, I was screaming at them to vote for Denise.  OH well.

Abi/Lisa/Skupin have one last chance here to turn the game or they won't have the numbers.  If Malcolm doesn't win immunity we know he'll use his idol so they will have to vote out Denise (of course, if Malcolm realizes this somehow he would have to play his idol FOR Denise risking his own life so that they could get one of the three...but at this point in the game it all becomes rather selfish so...doubtful).

If Malcolm DOES win immunity, the Abi/Lisa/Skupin combo is probably $crewed because Malcolm could save Denise and those three can't do anything.

So, a LOT is riding on that next immunity challenge.

ANYBODY goes with Malcolm, I think Malcolm wins.  I'm not AS sure about Denise.  Unless we just aren't seeing it she's not really as strategic and aggressive with game play.  But, she definitely wins over Abi and Lisa.  Skupin...not sure what everyone thinks of him.

I think the winner of this season is definitely going to come down to either Malcolm or Lisa/Denise/Skupin IF those three can get Malcolm out of the game.

Malcolm HAS to win the final immunity or he's DONE.

This is all assuming it's a final 3.

Ya... which really sucks because I really like Denise... but if they were serious about Malcolm, then it should have been Denise.

And did you catch Skupin? Carter walked up and they told him they were talking about him.... but then Skupin says, "Well it isn't going to be Malcolm tonight". I don't know if he was just stating the obvious, or he let it split they were going to vote for Malcolm?

I totally agree. Abi is the only one not trying, but she probably think she will win.

The 4, ya great group. Even Lisa, I do not like her game play, but she is trying. And she is probably a great lady in real life, but as a contestant... meh.

But this has been a great season. Lots of competition.

Just watched the Ponderosa videos.

So...Carter's face leaves something to be desired...

But wow...he has an eight pack!  Niiiiiiiiiice.

And I guess his face improves once he shaves....

Penner... OK... now that Hawkeye is drunk, the world is right again.

Artis is a trip... he was all kind of aggro in the game, but all zen at the ponderosa.

Ya, poor Carter. Seems like a good kid.

 Just watched the videos and yes Carter is a good guy but man is he monotone and boring.

I agree on Carter.  Seems like a good kid but was to dangerous in challenges and on the wrong side of the alliance.  He had a legit chance to win out on immunity challenges.  I'm sure it's not what he wants to hear but he's just do darn good.  How old is Abi?  She seems very immature.

Malcom is playing a great game.  One of the best I've seen in a long time.  Almost as good as Boston Rob.  Physically very strong, strategic without being a jerk and likable. 

I know my wife is pulling for him. 

Abi is 31... yes 31. Seriously.

For the highlighted I think that is where he is shinning over most of the past great players including Rob. There are people that thought he is a threat so they want to get rid of him but he seems to be a genuinely nice guy that so far no one has had a bad thing to say about.

Ya, and I totally do not see this season boiling down to a sour grapes jury and a coat tail rider. Nice for a change. More times than not it is.

Remember when he won the reward and they went and gave stuff to the kids in the village, and Malcolm went on about how that was what he really liked doing.... good looking kid, nice guy, loves kids, and just got paid... ya, he's going to have a real hard time with the ladies when he gets back.
