Seems to me that whatever happens next Sunday, you won't be saying "I went into this race undertrained" in your race report

lol - I wish! I am definitely undertrained compared to what I would have been if I were healthy sooner. However, swim is ok, I feel pretty decent about the bike and I can run a handful of miles.  I should have enough to walk to the finish, which is all I can hope for this time around, so I guess you could say I'm not undertrained for that - hopefully!  Smile

Pacing - Patience - Perseverance

Pacing - They don't issue any awards at T2.

Patience - Its 26.2 miles. Nobody wins it in the first loop.

Perseverance - From Mile 15 on is where it happens. ("It" being when you can make it really hurt and cut a lot of time out of the field.)

The above advice was given to me by a two time Kona age grouper.  Great advice whether you are in it to finish, PR, or Kona Qualify.

As my homie Dre from the next town over would say:  "Today was a good day."

First:   My honey badger dont care shirt came in the mail.

Second:  picked up my race wheels

Third:  Got all the supplies me and my three kids will need for the 1400 mile one-way drive up.

Fourth:  Totalled all my times up for the year and saw that I have indeed worked my a$$ off and am ready for whatever the day throws at me.

This is all based on me not having a plan, and just going with what made sense and felt good.

Swim:  79,850 yards

Bike:  2,210 miles

Run:  692 miles

And here's the machine with her borrowed wheels:

Best wishes for your drive! You're a brave man to be doing that solo, especially before a race, but I'm sure you will all have great stories and memories from it.

And that's a sweet looking ride!

Thanks man....I've done the solo thing a few times, and fortunately I'll be caravaning the second and third leg of the trip with my parents, so I'm sure one or two of them will ride in their car.

No real goal for me. Just enjoy the day as much as I have enjoyed the training. Don't think I've had one day where I didn't want to be out there training and I had several really fun days. Feeling really good.

Selachophobia - 2011-06-20 9:31 AM Here guys, I tried to get as much info as I could, shoot me an email with anything else you want posted and I will update the spreadsheet and post every couple hours, hopefully I did not fat finger too much.

My name is Todd.  Is finish time my goal time?  I'm hoping for 11:59:59 or faster.

I have no room for smack talk since my training has been crap outside of the last 9 weeks but I would like to be 1 second faster than Todd, 11:59:58 Laughing

Forecast is looking perfect IMO. A bit cloudy low 70's and wind seems under control. Now if only I had done half the training Waterdog has done I would feel more confident Wink

Quick test ride with my race setup today = flat.  Hopefully that's out of my system now.

On the bright side I was pretty darn quick changing it.

Hypothetically speaking, if one were to fly in late Saturday night and out early monday morning, would one of you have a spare room/couch/closet said hypothetical person could crash in for two nights?  He is hypothetically very quiet, clean, would be out of your hair, would help with post race stuff like gear retrieval or burger/beer fetching, and would gladly toss a few bucks your way, etc.  He has hypothetically not booked his flight yet but does have some FF miles burning a hole in his pocket and just can't get over the pre-race excitement, even if he's not racing.

Call me Ishmael Jim. My parents still call me Jimmy, though I'm 43 y/o.

A new job and required travel, plus some other issues cut heavily into planned training last couple of months. As this is my first go at 140.6, my primary goal is to finish. Going by some 70.3 results, I think I should be able to do this with some time to spare if I race and pace smart, and have no mechanical or significant weather issues. My wife just gave me the good news again (this will be our third child) about 10 days ago, so this might be it for the foreseeable future as far as IM distance goes, unless I can get one in this fall. Probably be able to do some half’s that aren’t too far from home base, but IM training hours commitment will be too much.

Hope see many smiling faces Friday morning at the swim.
