Getting back to tri-related stuff, it is 2:47 here. If I leave work early, say 3:30, I can get to the course for Sunday's tri, and do the ride and run again. It is as slow as death here, so no one will notice and I have all my stuff in the truck. What should I do?

Is that the most loaded question, or what?

I think that is a no-brainer.  Just ask Tony about leaving work early for a training run or bike.  Oh no never mind, he just called to tell me he was going to swim.  LOL

Currently on a Shiner Hefeweissen / Fat Tire kick...  Although, hard to beat a good porter or stout....  Belhaven Scottish Ale was good, but I haven't seen any in years...

Any one have any experience with the joesnewbalanceoutlet.com?  I love my current NB and want a second pair and the prices seem to be really good on the site.

Rural transportation safety experts at the University of Minnesota have launched a national mapping service, SafeRoadMaps.org, to help drivers identify the most dangerous portions of upcoming trips.  The State Maps include a "bicycle" filter.  Applicable to all of us as we're on these roads.

MORE IMPORTANTLY---- What is the story!!????  I had a PM in my inbox this morning telling me that I was going to be BT of the MONTH????  Someone has some explaining to do?!  If it was you guys (one or all) thank you.  It is a great honor, but what I get join in is reading about everyone's success, improvements, accomplishments, and CONFIDENCE!  I think we ALL motivate each other.  It is not just me... just because my swbkrun is on the title doesn't mean anything.  You guys are the one's that make this group ROCK!!!!

Steve:

We may have a hand in keeping the MG going, but you set the tone, provide insight and focus. Heck, you brought Ryan in to give us another perspective and a lot of nutritional information. Look at some of the other MG's. They have good people but without everything I just mentioned. Some go DAYS with no posts! We post because we feel comfortable doing so. I don't think there has been a truly negative post here (they're usually just humorous). Thanks for all you do, and you deserve the BT of the Month award!

Think about how mnay pages of posts we can make about this topic!

Seriously though, I am little sore today from this weekend, I was thinking a nice z1/z2 recovery ride would be the right medicine for me.  What do you all do the day after a race...

If it's one of my "A" races and one I planned for then I'll take a few days off to recover.
However, if it's just a fun race, a last minute thought, and not part of my training plan I will pick back up the very next day...like last week.  However, having said that I have to admit I am one tired pup right now.

Welcome back Steve, hope the vacation was good.

So I am back to being bored in the pool.  Running, have a Marathon to look forward to and based on my race my tempo runs are now supposed to be done at 8:10 pace (gulp!)  And lots of bike races and riding with race team so the motivation is to not get dropped there.  For swimming I have a 300M pool swim and a 750M OWS and nothing else until probably Lonestar next April, so no motivation there at all...

I just started doing something new, a 20 minute super ez spin the night of the race to flush out the legs.  Too late for you now, but something to consider.  The day after I do another 45 min ez spin on the CT.  It really has worked wonders for me.

PS I hope you ate well after the race was over and took an ICE BATH.  Every little bit counts.

Hey Tony

Given the focus on the marathon and bike races, is it possible you should just back off on swimming a little and not get too concerned until you start training for the HIM?

Also keep meaning to ask you what your splits were for the 4 mile race.

usually i'm back it the next day or the day after.  A little easier but back out there.  the day after lone star i got in the pool and just started swimming.  i ended up going a mile non- stop for the first time.  but as you can see in my logs, i haven't done much since buffalo.  that changes today.  i'm calling in sick the 19th though.

Welcome back Steve and Congrats!  Well deserved BTer of the month.

I have been looking at transport possibilities for my bike to NC for B2B.  I looked at carry cases to take on the plane but they all seem to be over the 80 inch regulation (Length + width + height).  The closest I have found is 87 inches.  My brother-in-law lives in Charlotte so shipping may be the best option.  I am terrified of shipping though.  That is how I got my current bike (the used one I bought was crushed).  I really just want to buy a seat for it on the plane and seatbelt it in.  Any thoughts?  Any cases under 80 inches?

Also, anyone use Swedish Goggles?  I bought them last year and love them.  8 bucks and they never wear out.

does two wheeler dealer provide insurance in that $260 price?  that doesn't seem to bad for shipping, assembly, takedown, rebox , and tune up.   It was going to cost me 200 just to ship  it to lubbock.

oops sorry, no i've heard people love those googles.  they don't have gaskets do they?  are they comfortable?  i guess so or you wouldn't be using them.

Chet--1st off thank you.

Why are you so concerned about size of bike box?  Anytime I have rented or borrowed a box I have never thought of the size.  It seems liek most are pretty similar in size.  But here is how I look at..... You rent a box from your LBS ($50-$75 for a week), you pay $50 each way for oversized luggage on the plane, and you still in under $200.  Seems ok to me, but maybe I am unclear on what your issue is?

If you ship on plane with you isn't it "insured" by the airline company?
