Walking Dead Season 3 !!!! (May be spoilers!!) (Page 15)

Not very close at all.  Both are great, IMO, just different. 

Is this season 4 now?

I just watched Season 1 and 2 while I was laid up after surgery and loved it. I need to catch up and get back at it again.

In broad strokes, pretty close - Rick was a sherrif (IIRC only a deputy though) who gets shot, meets up with his family outside Atlanta, Shane and Lori, they leave Atlanta eventually finding Hershel's farm, leave the farm & find the prison.

However, Shane never leaves Atlanta, Sophia doesn't die at the farm, Dale doesn't die and does have his leg cut off, Hershel keeps both his legs, Carol goes crazy, there are a few more comic characters, between Atlanta and the farm, they spend a couple nights in what they think is a great subdivision, one of the prisoners is a serial killer and kills two of Hershel's kids and gives Andrea a big scar on the cheek, Andrea is a bad , they meet Tyrese between the farm and the subdivision, Michonne shows up at the prison first, basically replace Maggie with Michonne with the Gov and make it 10x worse, Rick was also captured and the gov cuts off Rick's hand, and they bring 2 Woodbury-ites with them when the rescue Michonne and Rick.

There are more differences too, but even more minor.  But, yes, neither Daryl or Merle are in the books.  Carol is kinda getting to be Andrea.

I found the episode to be extremely predictable and rather boring.  Never felt any of the characters were in danger, and all of the high intensity characters like Michonne and the Governor were lethargic at best.  I guess maybe that's what a concussion and a gouged eye does to you, but an episode focused on Rick's decision making (about Merle and the newcomers) and his little mental breakdown was a little dissapointing after waiting 2 months.

That, and the over abundance of commercials. They're getting every dime they can out of this show.

Agreed. If they wanted Laurie to come back they should have made her a zombie. Rick need s to pull hus shiz together, they need him bad.

Daryl needs more bolts too.  At this point, he'd be more effective with an axe...

I thought that too. 

I also voted "Stand your ground" during the episode, but now I'm in the "go on the attack" camp.  The Woodbury people would fall-apart.  It'd be total chaos just like it was after the first attack.

So is Tyrese and his people still in the other cell? or did they leave.  I must've missed them in this episode.

I sat there thinking a Steyr Aug must hold like 100 rounds with how often he was firing fully auto.

Speaking of which, there had to be a specific reason for that particular gun to be used - it's awful rare outside of Austria, especially in the deep South!  Sure, it uses the same 5.56 NATO that the M16 and every thing else does, but it's a rare rifle.  Tie into the bad guys in Die Hard?

I think that's what it is.  "It looks foreign."  I think the other guys with him were wielding AK-47s weren't they?

Rick's group had M16 variants (CAR-14, AR15, Bushmaster-types).  

By the way.  If you're ever in that situation, file cabinets won't stop bullets unless they're full of concrete or sand.  Even Axel's body wouldn't stop that many bullets. Get behind something concrete, dirt (berm, microterrain, etc) or the wheels of a car.  5.56 and 7.62 can pretty much cut-through most things but earth and hardened concrete.

Either way, that was some awful shooting by everyone but the Governor in his one surprise kill shot to the head of Axel.  

Talking Dead was pretty funny.  They pointed out how horrible a shot Michonne is despite her talents with the Katana.  And they eulogized "Guy in the tower".  Hilarious.

Just finished watching off the DVR.  WOW, what a finish!

Bad ambush, but I like (or maybe respect) the idea of crashing the gate and letting the walkers out the back to cause havoc in the prison.

I don't think the Governor was trying to take them all out, there would be better ways.  Seems more he just wanted to stir up.  And what happened to the driver of the step van?  They got out, did they run out and join up with the Gov?
