Happy rainy afternoon from the east coast.  I doubt I'll actually get a race report written up but did want to report in on Sunday's half mary.  It started out terrific....I felt even better and stronger than I did at the one 4 weeks ago.  Then the wheels kind of fell off at mile 11.  I stumbled pretty hard on some uneven pavement but didn't think much of it.  A mile or so later the right knee went absolutely postal.  (The last two times this happened it's been the left knee, go figure.) There was no point in htfu. This was a fun race, so I walked/limped the last bit in. Got a post race massage, ate a huge breakfast with a friend and went home to compression tights and ice. Monday morning it was pretty swollen, but the ice and advil seem to have it under control now. Swelling is almost gone and there is no pain when I walk, even up and down stairs. The funny thing is that I have zero soreness anywhere else.  Usually the quads are a bit vocal anytime I run more than 10.  Today, nothing....nada.  It's like I hung out on a lounge chair all weekend.  I'm seeing the PT this afternoon.  I really need to fix the root cause of this if I'm going to run a marathon in the fall.  Grrrrrrrrr.  Thanks for listening to my rant.

So who has that super awesome tan line that makes it look like your still wearing clothes even when your not?  I am toying with putting sunscreen on all my tanned body parts and going to lay in the sun to see if I can get it to even out some.  My tan lines have always been bad but not that I am living in Tucson and play in the sun every day it's getting horrible.

I love my job because of days when I get great sales.  It's such a huge adrenaline rush.

I don't currently but definately have in the past.  If you do decide to do it, put sunscreen everywhere... you don't want your more sensitive areas (let's say thighs for example) lobster red.  Then you will really look funny.

And noooooooo I'm decidedly not speaking from experience.  I would never do something that silly.  Not me.  I'm smart.

I replied on Facebook but I'll reply here as well lol.   My internship is with a company that puts out a planner for off campus students.  The back of the planner is a business section where we sell ads to local business so its kinda like a planner and the yellow pages of a phone book in one.  The sale I made today wasn't really big but it felt great to get my first one finally!

It's still early here, but my the end of next month I should have some sweet tan lines!  Last year tan lines from my bike shorts lasted from May through early November.  It was extra special when I went to the beach at the end of July....super tan arms and from mid-thigh down and stomach and upper thighs were blinding white.

Ugh, really really really want some chocolate but none in the house.  Well, there are a few bags of chocolate chips, and my box of Snickers bars.  Trying to save the bar for the afternoon though, before my bike ride.  Bike rides are always better when you eat a Snickers Bar previously.  So, I resorted to another coffee.  Not quite the same.

It only took me one race...HIM in Galveston...to get my wonderful tri season tan lines.  The sun was beating down that day so I was cooked after being on the course for over six hours.  The coolest thing is you could still see my race numbers after the marker wore off because of the sunburn/tan...where the numbers were is white and the rest of the arm is tan.  You can still see them a little, but they are starting to fade into the rest of the arm as I workout more in the sun.

I am now the proud owner of a used PowerTap Pro wired on a Bontrager racelite wheel. Now to read the manual. Then all I have to do is get a cassette moved over order a disk cover, hook it up and start dropping enough watts to make a soft GE white light bulb glow dimly.

you are signed up for ARIZONA OPEN WATER SWIM SERIES - LAKE PLEASANT !

Gulp.  I just signed up for the 2000m wetsuit divison.  This is the same weekend as my sprint.  Whatever.  Between the OWS and a ride up Mt. Lemmon on Sunday I am not expecting any PR's in my sprint.   But it is all about the HIM.  I feel I need this swim to settle my mind going into my HIM.

Thanks Justin. Our weekend plans have changed and changed and changed again in the last week. We were going to a our cabin but it is going to be infested with 14 kids, 5 adults and 7 dogs, before counting us. (2 kids, 2 adults and a dog) We decided that was too many bodies to be sharing one bathroom, one stove and one sink with a rainy forecast. Instead we are turning off the phone at home and spending a weekend camping in our basement, hiking in the mountains and taking the shorties to see SHREK. I will also get in better training here than there.Smile

Ken and everyone else, HAVE A GREAT RACE!!!
Enjoy your families.
