Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So sorry to hear Emma! Emmanem - 2010-06-01 10:34 PM I'm in complete shock right now. Just found out that a girl named Samantha who lived next door to me freshmen year passed away yesterday. Apparently she got an autoimmune disease and got bleeding around her brain and her brain swelled. We hung out a good bit freshmen year but had drifted apart by the end of the year and I saw her a couple times this year but it was just little quick "hey how are you" kind of conversations. I know everyone says it but Life's too short... you never know what's gonna happen or what tomorrow's going to hold for you. All day I've been complaining to James about little stupid things... her death really puts things in perspective. You never expect this sort of thing to happen to someone so young. Remember to treasure every moment in life, never take life for granted and know that things could always be worse. Heard someone on the radio yesterday that say tomorrow is a gift not a right... this means so much more to me now than it did yesterday. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what they are going through right now. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You cease to amaze me! However today I managed to run my pinky toe over with a door it bruised almost instantly then I somehow stabbed myself with my binder in the stomach. Almost drew blood... seriously i dont think I could do it again if it tried, i have no idea how it happened, all i know it I now have a lovely bruised scratch mark on my stomach. So now I'm debating between biking or running. And since I seem to be stupidly accident prone today I have to figure out which of the two is the safest option right now ![]() Nicole83 - 2010-06-02 10:19 AM I had to read this three times before I realized you were probably talking about aerobars. I'm not even going to say what I was thinking at first... it's just way too wrong. That said, I'm issuing you the same warning I do to everyone who first gets aerobars. Be careful, especially turning or curving at first. A tiny movement in aero is a big one. And I swear, I don't warn everyone about that because I went careening off a bike path, down a rocky grade and into a leech infested pond on my first trip out with aerobars or anything. Nope, never happened (but only because no one was with me to take a photo). ![]() bzgl40 - 2010-06-01 9:50 PM I went in for a bike fit at 4PM. Didn't get out until near 6:30PM. WHAT? Barely anything changed on the bike. Little cleat modification. But now I have these pointy things coming out of my handlebars. Not sure how they got there. Got two weeks to get use to them before I have to take the bike apart and ship it. Piece of cake. It actually feels pretty natural. Now I just need a pointy helmet (although I don't see me actually going there) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks everyone for your kind words and prayers. Sam's death was definitely a shock. First time I've had to deal with someone my age that I've been friends with dying suddenly... It's so unreal that this happened. As I said before, it really just puts things in perspective and makes me appreciate life so much more. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yesterday's gym weirdness: Me: walk/running on a treadmill with headphones blaring AND reading a book Random guy who has been checking me out since I walked in the door: *waves franticly to my left side* "Hey Girl" Me: Takes out one headphone and glares "can I help you?" Random guy: Do you have a boyfriend? Me: *looking down at wedding ring on left hand* "Um, actually I'm married" Random Guy: Well, I'm going to give you this compliment anway. I really like your running skirt, that's a cute concept. I've never seen a girl run in a skirt before. Me: Um, thanks Random Guy: So, can I have your number? I started laughing so hard I had to hit the emergency stop ont he treadmill so that I didn't fall off. I think he got the message, but man, that was good times. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Haha yeah I tend to have my days when it would've been way safer and less painful for me to stay in bed. It's bad when i tell my mom and all she does is sigh and say "really, you hurt yourself again???" followed by "How on earth did you manage to do that?" before she asks if I'm ok. I guess she has reasons to worry though when I've fallen down the stairs like 5 times, fallen off several horses- one cost me a visit to the doctor the next day and the other got me a trip to the emergency room, then there's the whole running into a parked car and breaking half my tooth off... I'd definitely say I have my moments ![]() Nicole83 - 2010-06-03 10:06 AM LOL, that was a long, long time ago, but yes, I am severely accident prone. Though it seems that you have that gene as well. ![]() | ![]() So the other day I am in the locker room at the pool getting ready to leave and this lady is sitting on the bench filing down the heel of her foot, leaving all the little shavings on the floor. I thought that was pretty incosiderate, not to mention a little gross. Today that same lady gets in the shower and goes "Oh GROSS", and I'm like "what?". There was hair on the shower floor. Um, really? It wasn't even anywhere near her but I expect hair from time to time in a shower. Not heel shavings though. |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() | ![]() So, what to do with $250...or at least $150? Nik, myself, and another co-worker we have introduced to triathlon, entered our school's "Blackcat Challenge" weight loss/fitness contest. Basically you got points for each pound lost, points for every 30 minutes of working out, logging a food journal, etc. Our team name was "The Ringers". ![]() We won the total team high points award (with the help of 2 HIMs and 1 duathlon between the three of us!) and I won the individual high point award. I got $150 for my effort and Nik got $100 for her portion of being on the winning team. Now just trying to decide how to spend it...swimsuits? Shoes? Any other tri/training goodies? Or splurge on something else totally unrelated...anniversary is coming up...hmmm. Thoughts? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() good luck to all the racers this weekend. I'm not sure if any of you use thermolytes. I tried them during my brick yesterday and they worked great for me. It didn't upset my stomach and I felt pretty good throughout the brick. I sweat like a waterfall and always have trouble maintaining my electrolyte levels and hydration, so far after one use they seem to help me.. |
