Thanks to everyone for the inspires this week.

I had a great race this morning and finished second in my age group.  This is the first time for me to be in the top 5.  I had a PR for this race cutting about 4 min. off of my time from last year.

Congrats to Ken, Keri and Brenden for the 3rd place in the relay.

It was good seeing everyone this morning and can not wait to get back out there for some more racing.

The race report is up for anyone who is interested.

Great time out there today!!!  So awesome seeing all the BTers!
Everyone did so awesome!  Nik rocked her A/G, Tiff rocked the swim, I am super proud of Brendan and Ken and of course the Justin V Justin made it very exciting!  A big thanks to Eric and Betsy for coming out to cheer us all on.
Cold Shiner at the end just made everything sweeter!

Now - Anybody who is in our MG anywhere near Houston who has yet to sign up for Bridgelands needs to do so immediately.  Andy from Dallas just signed up this morning and said it was 94% full!  So get your rear in gear!

It was a tough day of racing yesterday... (HOT & VERY HUMID!)  Congratulations to Nikki for her podium, and congrats to the relay team that also brought home more hardware!

JustinP ~ you had a great race! Nice bike split and solid run.  I had to work hard to stay in front of your butt this time... Maybe Bridgeland's will be different!  I guess I better get a lil' more serious about my training if I wanna keep the 'NEVER' hope alive!

Tiff ~ super solid race! Great swim! I just wanna add that the Justins both got 'chicked' on the Swim by Tiff & Nikki!

Looking forward to checking out Kevin's effort at Ironman Kansas 70.3.

Todd ~ solid race as well! Great effort out there.

Here are some pics of my patio cover/shade arbor that I have been working on... I am 6 boards short from it being completed... but all-in-all it's done. (except the ceiling fan installation)

I just got a new saddle...is this something I can easily install myself or am I better off entrusting this task to the awesome guys at my bike shop?

It's no problem to switch saddles out yourself.  I would, however, go into the shop to make sure your fit is still correct.  Even a slight difference in the saddle will affect your fit.  Plus, the awesome guys at the bike shop will be glad you stopped by.Cool

You can install it yourself... it's not hard at all.  But getting it in the same position as your current saddle or getting it psoitioned in the right spot for that particular saddle, may be a little challenging.  If the LBS gurus won't charge ya... I'd say take it to them and let them set it up and check your position... adjust, ride, adjust, ride....

Great job everybody at Tejas this past weekend. It was great to see you all there!

Things I learned this weekend.

-50 out of 62 out of the water will not get it done (especially when Justin is in a speed suit and silicone cap since the latex one provided is just too slow)

-Justin will do what ever it takes to beat me.... even if it requires sprinkling "fire ants" in my transition area!.

But Justin, I have to tell you....... "You da Man!"

With the little time you have to train you get it done and bring it come race day! Some day I'll be like you!

So the same day I am doing my long course tri there is an endurance duathlon going on.  Same bike and run as my course.  I somehow managed to talk my friends into it as a relay.  One of my friends is a biker so the course should be easy enough for her but my other friend has never run/walked that distance before.  There are already threats of taking me back to the airport on Saturday evening after the race.    I think they are going to have great fun but they'll probably never go to another event with me again.

Wonder how Kevin and David are feeling after their HIM.  Anyone hear what the race conditions were like?  I know they had been getting some nasty winds down there so hopefully that stayed quiet.

Easy killa.... yes I wore my 'speed' suit... swim skin!  Let me just say, that on this particular day - it had no relevance! As a matter fact it was almost embarrasing to be wearing it and swim as slowly as I did.  The silicone cap cost me $5 bux... ONLY because I lost my FREE black latex cap between packet pick-up and gear ready time (by the way... low & behold, when I got to work today, I went and checked the company car... and voila... on black latex cap in the package on the floor!)

Now the fire ants... yeah, I thought that was a nice touch!  But in an effort to keep things equal, I too was victimized by the pesky things... in transition and before the swim!  BUT, you don't hear me whinning about it!  Suck it up BUTTERCUP!

Honestly, it was a great day of racing with friends...

The competitive aspect of it...
I am not happy with my performance, but I have no one or nothing (not even fire ants) to blame but myself.  Lack of training truly showed on the bike and the sorry excuse for a swim.  That will not be the case 2 months from now ~ at the lil' showdown at the Bridgeland's.  I am not quite sure how I became the marked man to beat... But there are a couple guys on here that have done nothing but awaken the sleeping Marine!  This race was close, the next WILL NOT be!

Wow...looks like our group had a busy weekend.  Decided to stay and camp an extra night after the race, so I have no RR yet, but had a blast this weekend @ KS 70.3.  Swam really well, biked well, 'ran' like crap, but the goal was to finish and I managed it.  Thanks for everyone's support and inspires...very much appreciated.

I was sucking wind the whole darn race! comin' out of the water, leavin' on the bike, and ya like the great pic of me starting the run... HR was 178 for an hour straight!  Good times!  sloppy, unfit, almost get beat by Justine, untrained, disaster!  That's what that was!
