Yes, I love the dog in the picture hahaha Seriously - forget the bike - that dog is a cutie - those little stubby legs are awesome! As for the bike, I love the pink on the rims - I missed that in the original pics - very nice detail - you are gonna rock it if you can ever get out on it.... |

Master 2411 Goodyear, AZ | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN My little, old dog rocks! He is 11 years old and I adopted him at 2 weeks old, bottle fed him like a baby. The dog is never more than 2 feet away from me at any time and prefers to be touching me whenever possible. It took us 5 minutes to get him out of the way! I had to pickup the hose and ask him if he wanted a bath, LOL, then he headed inside quickly! |

Well, I think he is a PERFECT accompaniment to the bike - I mean, he is stealthy black-on-black all over, but then be goes and sticks that little pink tongue out just as you snap the picture. Brilliant. |

Master 10208 Northern IL | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN Had a ride tonight that showed some encouraging signs and may also exhibit some of the frustration I've had over the winter. Rode to A Very Dark Place, 5 x 4' intervals with ~3:30 recoveries. Ended up hitting 345, 346, 350, 355 and 380. None of them were really *that* hard, even the last one, but if I had tried to start out at 355-360 I likely would have blown up right away, no recovery could salvage any of the rest, and have done so a number of times. I haven't done one near 380 in awhile (let alone all 5), which is encouraging, but it also shows the frustration as figuring out how to pace and determine effort levels for workouts (and very quickly upcoming races) difficult. I miss by a few watts and I'm done for the day. Hopefully I'm learning how to work these better and can keep getting it back, and then keep on building from there. Even with improved swim & run, it doesn't really help going into the first race when my strength (the bike) is still questionable. Might seem strange, but making sure the running is going well helps with a LOT of things, and not just in running. On top of that, running more hills, and running them hard helps out at least 90% of things quite a bit. Is it really a coincidence I had this jump on the bike (and other areas) after running threshold intervals on hills a couple times a week the past few weeks? |

So now it's real! Very nice mount, and I love the pink accents (note to self - do not let better half see these pics, or we're in for another bike. Then again, maybe that's exactly what I need to do!). Looking forward to the report of the first ride! Matt |

Master 2411 Goodyear, AZ | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN I took her out for a quick spin before dark. Definitely going to take some getting used to, very different from my Tri bike! I hit a few short hills though, and wow! what a difference! I feel so lucky! I also got a Garmin edge to use on both bikes. I've never had anything so techy before, kind of cool to see my average speed etc while I am riding, as opposed to waiting to get home to find out. |

I did 5x4.5' intervals today. With 6' recoveries. Managed 286, 298, 304, 305, 319. And this is still with my PT that reads high. Though I finally was able to get the quarq set up on my TT bike after the ride. So I feel pretty sheepish right now compared to your numbers...but at least my ride was outside and not on the trainer. So yah...beat that. |

Ooooo - toys, to boot! That is, indeed, how the long spiral down into data junkie nerd heaven starts. But it's a ton of fun. From what you wrote, I'm now concerned about what it will feel like to ride a tri bike on hills, as they seem quite hard enough on my Venge! Ruh roh…. Matt |

Something has been messing with the energy delivery. Edited by brigby1 2013-04-26 7:11 AM |
