I think I missed timing my peak on the bike by about two months. Maybe there is an advantage to using a plan? As long as the run goes better than past attempts, I will be happy. This year I don't want to see some guy out there in front of me on the run dragging one of his legs along like he just pulled it out of the jaws of a sprung bear trap -- only to realize after a couple minutes that he is actually pulling away from me. |

The pre-mixed stuff was very sweet. If you're sensitive, or just not into that, be careful and make sure you grab some water with it. |

Went and re-read that. it's a good read, although it does make my stomach churn a little... Got through the last long run without managing to injure myself Question for the recent vets, says transition closes at 6:30. Do they really mean closed or is it like some tris where people mingle around? Where do they put those of us in later waves. Am I going to be literally standing in the corral for over an hour??? Looks like all the weather models are coming together nicely. A little heat during the week to warm the water, then a bit of a cool off just in time. |

It was really cool to see the pros come screaming down the pier. I am in a late wave again and plan to be there as well. |

Race day will mix and match these times and hopefully come up somewhere between my predicted time and my straight good day time. I want a Vegas slot, but it seems like there will only be 1 or 2 per age group. I'll place myself in the top ten of M25-29 and hope for roll down.

There's just not much room at the boat ramp, especially with later waves waiting to launch. They do have volunteers to pull you up the ramp and rip open the velcro flap on your wetsuit tho. |

If there is a volunteer standing around as you run through I'm sure you could call out for help and have them yank it off for you. The video showed the volunteer offering to do this without being asked. |

Temp was reported at 58 degrees, but it felt like a warm 58. I think we'll have some great conditions for the race. Just crossing my fingers for light winds. |

It didn't feel warm to me, though. ;-) That rounds out a whopping 7 hours of swimming since Jan. 1. That's okay, probably wouldn't make more than a minute's difference had I doubled the pool training. |

Extreme Veteran 483 San Diego | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 California : Official Thread To anyone that's going to be in town on Friday morning and wants to get into the water, come down to the Cove at 6:00 a.m. A group of us will be meeting up for an easy 1/2 mile or so before heading into work. Parking is pretty much a non-issue before 7:00 a.m. It's painfully early and the water will be cold, but it's a perfect opportunity to acclimate to the water and getting up early will help you get to sleep early on Friday night. Let me know if you're coming and I'll be sure to look for you so we can all head out at the same time. Toes in the water at 6:30. |

We'll meet up on the grass close to the railing. There are a couple of benches there. Once we meet up, we can go down a level and put our stuff with everyone else's down by the lifeguard shack. There are bathrooms and showers there, too. Hope to see you Friday morning. |
