Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes) Ok, Manatees, advice time. I am doing the Sprint Nationals August 11th. I feel like I should do another tri before that. My options are: 1) Tidewater Tri - July 20th. Cheaper, but further away (1.5 hours). Not part of the race organization I hate. Have never done the race before. 2) Tavern Tri - July 28th. More expensive ($15), local. Run by race org I hate, but I do like this race. Which one would you sign up for? |

I'm about to go on my long bike ride, what do you guys do with your......um........tackle? In past rides ( no comments Yanti/Salty/Joe) I have taken the skin off the meat, of the meat and two veg combo, through rubbing. I have tried tucking it down the left leg and the right leg, but the old one eyed python still gets rubbed. I have tried scrunching it up, aka codpiece type, but too uncomfortable for the baby's arm. Just wondered if you'd have any suggestions. My wife suggested to tuck the purple headed warrior in a sock. I said have we got any knee length socks, she said no, but we've got a babies ankle sock that would fit the love truncheon perfectly. The nerve.... Apologies for the blatant excuse to get in as many euphemisms for that part of the male anatomy, but it was fun 1) I love the use of euphemisms. 100 internet points to you! 2) I hear up is better than down. And chamois cream. But I"m not a guy, so I don't have any first-hand experience. I'm trying to keep my mouth shut because I was told to. Don't tempt me! |

I don't mind traveling for races but 1.5 hours is kinda weird, too close to stay over but makes for an early morning. The Tavern Tri sounds fun and if you enjoy the race, in spite of the org it sounds good. On one of Ann-Maries other hands two weeks out from nationals might be better than the week before. How do the logistics affect DH and Baby E? If the travel is a non-issue I'd probably do the Tidewater. |

The swim course in Lake Michigan is likely to be more like the swim course at Tidewater (minus the saltwater) and Setup does a nice job. |

It's a weird distance away. |

It's not soreness, it feels sharp and almost like a thin line down the center of my calf. Not constant but I feel it when I walk. thoughts? Like shin splints type of pain??? You said it, not soreness, but pain. Soreness=OK to carefully workout however, Pain=No Go. However, I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. |

I'd pick Tidewater because it is new and gives you a little more recovery time. Although I totally agree that a1.5 hour drive is definitely that awkward time/distance which is a downside. Is there beer there? |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes) OK. I've got exactly 3 hours to sleep before I gotta pack up and move on out back to Jakarta. Nighty night. Don't be surprised if a new lost Manatee or two winds up splashing into the pod. Wondermoose ... do what's easiest and best for you. I'm inclined toward Tidewater. PITA but THAT OTHER race company doesn't deserve your money and they may well find a way of screwing up a perfectly good race. |

What I can say so far is very favorable. Within a day or 2 of registration they contacted me by phone to see if I had any questions. That call was immediately followed with an email linking to the event page so I can look for updates and additional info. Another friend had to postpone the Rev3 event she signed up for a year ago and NO hassles they let her change the event to another time and called to make sure that it wasn't anything on their end that made her choose to withdraw. Wow. That is so impressive. By contrast, we are having problems getting information from the 5150 people about our swim on the 19th. To be fair, they probably don't know yet what they are going to do, but still. All athlete information has been put on hold while they figure it out. |
