Good luck with your racing, Adrienne!

I worked on my play list for my half this morning, since I didn't run.

What's on your playlist?

Oh geeze everything.  I usually try to keep it fast paced though.  It's a combination of rap, dubstep (yeah I'm one of those), fast rock, and electronic.

A sample of some of them:

I always start a race with Machine Gun (16 bit remix) by Noisia paused at about 50 seconds to get past the long intro:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBg9L2R5MnI

I've got Lady Gaga's "Applause" somewhere in there.

Molosus by Hanz Zimmer (Theme from Batman Begins):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EslAPkVvq1U

Eminem's "Til I Collapse" timed around mile 9 where I remember fatigue starting to set in the last time I raced a half.

"Kings and Queens" by 30 seconds to Mars, which I think is the best song for long runs ever.

And lots more, but that shows how much I jump across genres.

I like the diversity!

You know Jared Leto (from 30 seconds) played Pre in Prefontaine?

I had to tie back to running somehow Smile

Yes, I'll echo that--- GOOD LUCK to you on Saturday, Adrienne!! and to you and your son, Steve! I remember the days when my now 16yo was racing JO X-country at age 9...so much fun...enjoy each and every race and I just noticed that Salty is in SBR Utopia with Ben and a few of my acquaintences-Rusty and Lani...Lani worked at my hospital until very recently and Tankboy was my idol during IM training--I wore the BT tat he sent me in the mail for that race! 6 degrees of separation

Thank you!

And yeah, small BT world!

Ipod died before the race even started.  That was disappointing.  I ran the half in 1:32:40.  I was on pace for a sub 1:30, but a pretty long hill at mile 10 sapped me.  4th in my age group, so I was just out of range for hardware.

The run is definitely improving, so I'm going to keep at it.

I had a hellofarace yesterday. I can see some definite progress. I PRed by 21 seconds on a more challenging course. Also, our elite team selection for nationals is based on how we score on our team (in XC the first 5 runners who cross the finish line score points) and I scored #3, beating two teammates who I have never run faster than. Anyway I'll write a RR with all the fun details. Now I'm off for my 10k with a liiiiiittttllle but of muscle fatigue.

'Open Water' is this triathlete’s nightmare because I have a fear of swimming in open water. Not because I can’t swim, but mostly because I can’t see what’s swimming with me in the water.

Club or group workouts are very motivating and soon you’ll start feeling like a triathlete, making you less likely to flake out.
