Okay, first, the good stuff. #1: Mutti is happy and healthy. That's huge. I'm going to have to fire Mutti's 1st caretaker when she gets back. The 2nd caretaker now can only work 2 days/week (occasionally more). What this means is that I need to find 2 new caretakers. For those of you who have been here through these endless cycles, you know how miserably difficult and time-consuming that is. A lot of it too is timing: the instant someone (really good) available gets posted, I need to be one of the first callers or it's not going to happen (and I need 5-7 happenings to get 1 fitting candidate, who then may or may not take the job of course). The catch is that in taking care of Mutti 24/7 (and I get -poor sleep 'cause I've always got an ear out for her and there's usually one or two nocturnal wanderings), I can't stay on top of trying to find a new caretaker. We're also not going to have #3 if I can't squeeze in some minimum of work. Murphy's Law is happening with our company right now ... So here are my great plans. Above all, I'm going to pray and meditate. If there's a God, and I believe there is, and evidence for me personally to that end is great, daily, infinite, blah blah, God will help. If there's no God, doesn't matter. I'll stay (relatively) sane and out of jail. 1 - I'm going to offer a HUGE finder's fee to anyone who finds us a decent, even temporary, caretaker. That's all I got. Any ideas? So tired tonight I shampooed my hair with acne wash and washed my body with conditioner. Whatever, I'm clean (enough). I wish that I had some brilliant ideas on where to find good help. Is there a nursing school or anything nearby that might have people looking for a place to live? They could attend classes and help with Mutti? Or does Mutti need more of a housekeeper than a nurse? Good luck with your brother! I know Melanie is having problems motivating her sibling(s) to help |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 v.2 thread2 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes?) My old school Aerodrink bottle (actually, the model older than the one linked here) is getting to the (disgusting) point of no return. I've been thinking about going with a between the arms (BTA) setup but I like being able to refill the aerodrink on the go. The BTA setups look way easier to keep clean that the PD Aerodrinks. I'm kind of thinking out loud here. I want the refill function. I feel that having the straw helps me to drink more often. I think that something that can be easily cleaned would be a good thing.

I know Melanie is having problems motivating her sibling(s) to help Dearest Yanti, I too wish I could help. All I can do is send you lots of ((((BIG hugs)))) and positive thoughts. I imagine you've already checked into this, but is there an agency you could use who could locate potential help and do the initial screening for you? Kind of like a temp agency, but for domestic/caretaker/elder-care help? That might help cut down on you having to be so on top of that. She's in Jakarta, right? My friend's sister lives in Indonesia (maybe in Jakarta??) and is here visiting right now. I'll ask her; she might know of something similar that the expats use. Glad that you're showering, even if you're using your face and hair care for alternative uses. Hope you're eating too, and not just Poptarts. |

I like the look of the speedfil A2, but I have nothing to gauge that on, other than the pictures. I have had one of my bottle cages set up BTA, with a straw, which made me a firm believer that the straw helps me drink more often. It also lowers my chances of losing a bottle mid race, but keep in mind that I am not refilling it since I only race sprints at this point. |

I've had the A2 for some time, but never really finished hooking it up as it seemed a bit big & clunky. Didn't like how the garmin would be sitting up top of everything. Take a look at the XLab Torpedo. |

It also lowers my chances of losing a bottle mid race, but keep in mind that I am not refilling it since I only race sprints at this point. Are you using a tri bike? Or is this possible with a road bike without aero-bars? I am probably the worst possible case, so do as I say, not as I do. I have a 2004 Fuji Road bike that I have added clip on aerobars to, and no, they are not shorties. For most applications this is suboptimal, but I have pushed my seat a bit forward and have begun to drop my cockpit as well, all in an effort to develop better aero position and more power. It has worked out pretty well (still not perfect) for me, but not without some tweaking and adjustments. And again, I only race a couple of sprints a year, so I am not in an aero tuck for hours in a race. I can easily maintain a fairly comfortable aero ride for about 90 minutes when I am in training, and haven't really stretched anything out longer than that recently. Most of my longer rides are in groups, and I won't go to the aerobars unless I drop off the back of the pack. Now, to your second question, I am sure that you can find a way to mount a bottle cage to your cockpit using zip ties and the handlebars and/or stem, but I'm not sure how beneficial that would be. If it helps you stay hydrated than Yeah! If it slows you down because of any number of factors, then Boo! And of course there is the mantra of "Nothing new on race day", which in your case is 10 days away. My advice would be to stick to what you are doing now and see where you are 11 days from now. You may be really surprised with where you end up after your race. |

If you have, do you have happy stories or horror stories? What type of payment did the buyers use, or what payment type would one recommend? Am I better off throwing my stuff on ebay? I don't want to get burned. I have sold a few items on ebay in the waaaaay long ago, but not recently. Edited by melbo55 2014-08-06 3:41 PM |

Swim training question: My hip is really bothering me so I'm trying to baby it as much as possible before my race on 8/17. The race swim is 480 yds and I'll be wearing a wetsuit. My swim workouts will be 1,350 and 900 yds this week, and 1,100 yds next week. Last week they were 1,650 and 1,100 yds. Since kicking while swimming is one of the things that aggravates my hip, is it okay to just do 500 consecutive yds freestyle with kicking during each workout and the rest of the distance with a pull buoy? Or should I try to do more free distance? |

Regular 980 Caerphilly, Wales, uk. | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 v.2 thread2 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes?) Ummmm, bit of a mish mash of a post to catch up... TJ - Not sure about the Common Wealth location selection process. Don't get to watch sports much, too much work, and when not working there's kids program's on the tele. Shame America doesn't join in on the games. Guess you don't want to be reminded you used to be ours T'was a good medal turnout for Wales this year, most so far. Olympics legacy? Who knows, but there seems to be some new talent coming through. Stacey - I'd be tempted to get the Retuel fit with the bike you have now, it may just need a little tweaking to get comfortable on. Even so, with the stays from the fit, you can carry them forward to a new purchase. What groupset are you running on the bike now? If it is a decent one, perhaps you could get it switched over onto a new bike with a lower standard groupset to save a bit of cash. I'm glad you've got the sensor fixed. I'm looking at getting an 805, mostly for the sat nav features, but also because it records power from my power tap. I could get by with my 910xt, but, you know, new things are so nice :-) Yanti - I don't have anything to give with the Mutti situation. Hopefully you can get it sorted once and for all. Must out you under a lot of stress. Have you thought of advertising internationally? Deanna - welcome to the pod. Hope you like it so far. Can you update your profile pic to a more recent one please, as there's no way you're 40 in that pic. Me - Well, I'm off to France tomorrow to go camping, and visit Disney, and stuff. Will be away for a little over a week. Will try to get on, dependant on WiFi. Is it bad that I noticed that I'm 40 km short from completing one of the cycling challenges on Strava, so I mentioned to DW that I may take the bike away with us to get it completed. If looks could kill......Managed to sneak my trainers and garmin in the bag instead :-) Perhaps I can sneak out one day and hire a bike to. Get 25 miles in. As I said, will check in. Stay safe. Have fun with your family, forget about training for a week it won't kill you. OK totally dumb question but I can ask it here. What exactly does group set mean? It has something to do with your gears doesn't it? All the components on my current bike are Sora but I don't think that this answers Darren's question does it? Well, at least not as deadly as the look from wife I do agree that he should have fun...and take lots of pictures of camping in France. Pretty! |

Yes, it's the brakes, derailleurs, shifters, brake levers, cassette, chainrings, chain. This is yours. At least the current version of it. Not all bikes are going to have exact matches on everything. Lower level ones may have some mix of Tiagra and Sora. I've seen these come with an Ultegra rear derailleur as well. |

But we LOVE it. Now we are fully stocked for some great camping trips! Would be kind of fun to get Arizona peeps together for something like that. Practice our open water swim. ;-) I didn't realize you were in Tucson. Roosevelt is a long day trip for us, definitely for you! If you can, go up to Apache lake. Holy cow, it's so pretty and way off the beaten path. Quicker if you take the beeline up to Roosevelt then down to Apache instead of the Apache Trail. But not as pretty. :-) Originally posted by dmgaudre We were going to head north last weekend, but storms kept us down near Tucson. Camping is a new thing for us with a 7yo and 3yo. We've always been active and outdoors with them...camping is just our next step Originally posted by 4agoodlife It really is. We're looking at camping up there soon. It's been a busy summer and we haven't camped once!Originally posted by dmgaudre We've been up to Saguaro and most recently to Canyon, but Roosevelt is too far for a good day trip. Originally posted by 4agoodlife That's Roosevelt Lake. It was a long day for the kids and dogs...we took the Apache Trail up there. Gorgeous drive...but long. LOLOriginally posted by dmgaudre hehe...thanks What lake were you guys at in your doggy pic?Originally posted by 4agoodlife Oh my gosh, he's adorable! (The furless kid is cute too...) lolAnd we're officially "foster failures". Pogo (as I renamed Buttons) is now part of the family. Seemed no one in the family wanted to give him up. According to rescue, he's part Italian Greyhound, and his personality sure fits the AKC description. Yes! Poor desert people that we are, OWSs are few and far between. (mine have only been during races at Tempe Town Lake ) We're actually about an hour north of Tucson in Casa Grande. We have "plans" to get in a few more trips up to the mountains before it gets too cold to be fun for kids (although that's kinda hard to imagine lol). We don't mind driving the scenic ways because the kids are good travelers |

I think it's a good place to keep track of race results. Here's my profile. Technically it's everybody who has been in a race. That's what I was thinking! Just signed up. A couple of my races weren't there. Maybe because they were small local races? Did you try searching specifically for them? A dumb question, I know. But a couple of mine weren't showing up automatically either, but when I did a specific search for the race, I found and claimed my results. Well, one anyway. The other was a relay under Jason's name, so I didn't get "credit" ETA: ummm...yep, dumb question. Maybe I should read backwards through the posts instead of in order.
