Champion 9600 Fountain Hills, AZ | Subject: RE: IM Louisville watching thread He doesn't need the lottery, he'll get there much sooner than later. Race selection is important and as all the races attract a similar number of participants, the AG spreads are similar, so you need to get in a race with 80 slots to increase the number per AG. You used to be able to make the argument that some races were more competetive than others, but at this point, due to IRONMAN popularity, they are all going to bne competetive in each AG. |

But you know, someone on this board was saying that some people get picked for the lottery because of the fact that they are a human interest story. One example was Sarah R. They mentioned that the lottery is not all that random as some would like to believe, and sometimes people have a good story get picked. He has an amazing story of weight loss and changing his life and now his fight to get to Kona. Sorry, I know I'm just pulling stuff out of a hat... I so wanted to see that he had made it. |

For someone like him, the only was he go's is by sheer will and effort and punching his own ticket with a 10 hour Ironman. He's close and he's going to get nothing but better. I think he knew he was a bit of a long shot this year, but next year, watch for him. |

It was a great race, and I would really recommend it to anyone thinking of doing an IM next year. The bike course absolutely rocked, and they made a good choice by starting the swim in TT mode. The run was wicked hot, and the humidity just cooked me, but overall very, very happy with the day. Congrats to everyone who started today!!!!! |

Those of us watching the video feed were watching these 2 switch in and out throughout the day. One of these guys seems like a triathlon encyclopedia, whereas the other we had a tough time understanding sometimes. "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN" was spoken pretty religiously by Announcer #1 for every athlete. This other hard to understand guy was a little less reliable. Was this 2nd guy as tough to understand in person as he was on the live feed? Any comments good or bad? |
