SSMinnow - 2012-10-13 1:02 PM  Can you take a class? There is actually technique to doing this correctly to get the most out of it.  I tried it when I had my SFX and was a total dork.  My HR never even made it out of Z1.

PS.  Do you know why you got that injury in the first place?  if you don't, figure it out.  Rest alone is not usually the answer to injuries.  PSA over.

HA!  My HR gets over Z1 as soon as i put on the swim trunks!!
The phrase "Floats like a lead balloon" comes to mind.

11 of the pennants as well. and of course you'll keep in mind that most of these were prior to the playoff expansion in 69 and 94, you know, when it was much more difficult to make the playoffs, unlike the scham of today's game.

I'm back from my 10K!!!  Weather sucked--wind was crazy, rain was sort of sideways; the hills were relentless, but I had great fun getting it done and two pukes at the end tell me I did all I could.  47:05 was good enough for #1/41 in my AG and #6/436 female overall so I'll be content for now. Tongue out  More work to do!!!!!

Now I'm switching between the Badger game and Kona!

Awesome!!  Nicely done. Now where are you going to lose that 1:05?

Interesting weekend for me.  First ever real "Mud" race on Sunday.  Saturday got canceled because the city was rightfully concerned about us tearing up the park.  Sunday we were in Madison and they must of had at least 3 inches of rain during the weekend and we ended up racing in it.  The course was prairie mud trails that were 2-3" deep by the time we got on them, except for the asphalt start/finish stretch.  It was so greasy that on most of the tight corners it was faster to hop off and run them than ride them and there wasn't a hill on the course you even try to ride.

I ended up 6th and the 2 guys I am competing against closely took 1st and 2nd.  My inexperience really hurt me today.  I tried to ride the same race that you would on a dry course and blew myself up towards the end of the 2nd lap.  After hitting that wall I just had no power.  Also, it was impossible not to spin out if you tried standing, no matter how far back you tried to keep your weight.  It was like riding in concrete and if you didn't save something you fell apart.  It was however, a great experience builder for future races.  All the guys that ended in the front came from the back towards the end of the race.

I actually took the hose to my shoes & kit along with my bike.  I think the back of my bibs had a good solid inch of mud on them.  It was a lot of fun, but shocking as to how difficult it was.

Strong work! Very impressive. We had some crazy storms on Saturday, too. The power went out for about 2.5 hours - when the pro men were on the run! the WiFi was out too so I had to use my phone for updates, which of course died. But the power did come on just as the men were about to finish. I'm glad I was able to see the women's race. That run was so exciting to watch!

I read this a while back, I like the idea of holding back a bit and letting yourself ease into the bike and run. It sort of makes the IM seem achievable!

Wake up people!!!  It's Wednesday.  Who is considering racing their brains out this weekend??  Spill the details.

For everyone else, what was your favorite moment from the World Championships last weekend?

Not even considering it.  I'll be in Mississippi visiting my mom this weekend.  My foot and knee are both doing better with the prospect of no more tennis this year.  Planning an hour run this afternoon and the weather is awesome!

Good luck to those racing and good luck to those tapering.

Grand Rapids marathon on Sunday! First one, not sure what to expect, but excited to find out what I can do at that distance.

Favorite moment is also when Leanda Cave wouldn't let Rinny pass her. But I also really liked it when Pete Jacobs knew he had the win and let loose for those last two miles - high fiving, cheering and just going wild.

So I have to drop off my bike at Tribike transport on Saturday. It feels like this Ironman is coming too quick and I worry that I'm going to forget something but I also don't want to take too much. Does anyone have a Ironman checklist they could share with me? I'm dropping  off a gear bag with my bike and trying to decide what to put in the bag and what to take with me on the plane.

John, Linda: Are y'all changing into bike shorts at T1 or are you wearing the same trishorts for the swim and bike?

Tiana

I'm running my first 50K on Saturday. Yikes! It's a trail run through a state forest, and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful fall day in the woods. My goal is to finish and not get hurt.

Good luck, Melissa!

Another CX race for me.  Will be the biggest of the season, they get close to 1k people at this race.

Also taking our Junior CX team out to practice on the course we set up for my teams race in November.  LOL who knew promoting a race would be this stressful.  Lots to do from getting sponsors, volunteers, porta potties and the most important thing, the kegs...

No racing for me; I ran the Noosa tri run course this evening without any major ankle problems which is a huge psychological boost. I'm happy to continue running alternatives now until I'm healed.

I didn't get to see much of Kona but the way Pete Jacobs finished was impressive, my LBS is claiming to have helped him prepare for it - which is probably true but it gets up my nose because they charge top dollar and give sh@t service.....!
