Subject: RE: TEAM SKINNY 03/01/08 (March Madness)Cead_Mille_Failte - 2008-03-17 7:53 AM Hi Everyone, So it's been 10 days since I got sick and I decided that though I'm still taking antibiotic the set is nearly over so it's time to stop lazying around. Weather is nice (not only not ranining but also quite sunny) so I made a brave decision to go running outside. Got properly dressed, got the right attitude: it's your first time outside so take it easy and just enjoy it- and off I went. OMG I thought I'm gonna die after 7minutes. My lungs felt as if somebody was shooting them with a nail gun- am I smoking 20 cigarettes a day in my sleep or what?. The whole "running" session lasted 20mins and it took me 26mins to WALK home so you can imagine my glacier pace. I know I've been sick and it was my very first time "running" outdoors but this was a disaster. My conclusion: if you think that running on a treadmill for 40mins or more means something you're wrong. Well, you just found out what we all do sooner or later. And no, it doesn't mean nothing, but working out NOT on a machine is just a lot different. You're usually using a lot more stabilizing muscles, overcoming more resistance, etc. If you haven't yet, put your treadmill on a 1% to 2% grade - you need that to mimic (somewhat) outdoor conditions. |
