I know I should have an off street parking spot. Were on the corner of Ann and Front, right were the run course travels as it leaves downtown and from google maps .33 miles from the boat dock were we should be dumped off We'll let folks know what we have come Friday morning and if there's room there may be a parking spot or two available. Salty, I will trade you a ride back to the beach on Friday Night for ride back on Saturday? James I think that message was for me?? I'd love to help you out, but no room in the pickup for another passenger and bike. Sorry dude. We think we have a ride back the the hotel Friday night. If not, a taxi will do. Thanks anyway. |

Master 1741 Chapel Hill, NC | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread I got my packet on Friday. It is exactly the same as the one you download, so don't sweat it. Setup always has medical forms on hand race morning, at least for the Half I've done. Their site always makes a big deal about filling it out ahead of time, but seriously, it's just contact info and asks you to check of medical conditions. Not like it's asking for doctor phone numbers and insurance info. So, I woke up with a sore throat today. Crap crap crappity crap. :-( |

Expert 749 | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread I was waivering on my wetsuit booties since they were calling for 50's as the low, but as of now pretty much all sites are calling for lows in the 40's on Sat. and all the days around then so I think I will be letting the w.s. stippers unzip me and maybe unzipping to the waist, but I will make the jog to T1 w/ the booties and bottom half of my WS on. I am a little concered that I feel too relaxed about this one - maybe because I have very relaxed expectations of myself, maybe b/c it's the 3rd IM, maybe because the flu pandemic is about to strike our house? Oh wait - there's my good old pre-race anxiety rearing it's ugly head ; ) Hope everyone that has been sick is healing up and resting lots!! |

After review, I think the logistics and packet pick up will be easier than it reads. I also think the logistics for the racers will be easy, but I fear it will be a pain for any ironsherpas. That is a lot of moving around, but at least they should have plenty of time to get to the next spot. My packet also came in the mail today (FYI). Thanks Kathy! Have fun down at IMFL! |

Expert 749 | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread I think for us it's ot a big deal, our bikes will take us where we need to go & all of or courses are marked : ) Last year we just took our time heading to the battleship. We spent the whole day there & had a lot of fun (and spectating with 2 kids in tow is usually not so much fun!) The really bad part was getting back to the car at the end and it sounds like they have that worked out for this year. My husband has it easy with no kiddos along this year - he has his chair to camp out by T2 and his book to read, it should be a nice day for him! Current forcast - low 43, high 63 - it'll be a layering day! Lots of sunshine!! |

I'm freakin' a little, in the middle of total taper madness and things are stressing me out. I can't wait 'til Sunday, because no matter what happens on Saturday, at least that fu**ing day will be over. |

I dont want to be driving back and forth all morning before the race. Ooh good question -- I can only assume we drop off bags 2-6 on Friday. No way they'd make all 1700 participants drive to three spots (Finish, T2 and T1) on race morning. That'd just be insanity. |

I heard last year people's stuff got wet (from dew) in their bags overnight, so it's best to drop bags off in the morning. Any thoughts on that? Was just reading over the booklet and it says shoes must be in the T1 bag. They can't be with the bike. Do we put our helmet with the bike? I'm still fighting off a cold. I think I'm feeling a little better tonight. I'm very glad I didn't get the flu! That would be a deal killer, I think. I need to remember to stay vigilant in my prevention of getting germs, because I could still pick something else up! Will be very glad when race day has come and I can stop worrying about everything! |
