cdhynson - 2009-09-23 3:47 PM The first time I competed inIMFL the transition area sounded like a firing range with all the bikes blowing tires--Good Luck to all and race safe

This is the perfect time for me to ask.  Obviously I don't want to over inflate my tires Saturday but will there be a pump available Sunday morning?

I've always brought my own.  But general rule of thumb- make sure your bike pump is labeled with your name.  And make sure to pump up your tires and get it out of transition before anyone sees you with it   If not EVERYONE will want to borrow it and you may not get it back.  It's nice to help others, but if you end up loaning it to one person it will get handed off to another, and another, and so on.  Next thing you know some stranger 100 racks over will have your pump   And I'm really not exaggerating.

Just got done fixing my bike computer. Shop couldnt figure it out tried a new one couldnt get it to work. I tried mine with a diffrent wheel and magnet and it worked. Glued that magnet onto my race wheel now everything is good inside my head. I never new a magnet could go bad. Leave it to me.

Ok, so I have a fingernail nick in my wetsuit. Anyplace over that way that would carry the aquaseal glue to fix it up or do I need to stop at all3sports or some such place on my way over from 'Bama?

I am assuming there will be an expo type retail area and since this is a wetsuit swim.....ya think I could roll the dice and see if they have anything. It's not a huge cut but I am afraid it will continue to tear if I don't get on it.

I would stop at all3 on your way over just to be safe. I don't know which vendors will be at the expo, but I do know as far as the local bike shops and running store here- none of them carry anything for wetsuits.  Maybe a wetsuit rental service will be there and have some??  Not sure.

Tri14kix - 2009-09-23 3:10 PM This is my first HIM. I have only done 6 sprints, 1 oly and all this year. I was not nervous at all about this race and have trained on this course for quite sometime, so I have had it my my head that it is like any race I have done this year, but after reading all your comments about being nervous you are now FREAKING ME OUT!!
Just kidding, I am treating this like any other race except bringing on some extra nutrition. Newbie ignorance or zen master?

Brian- are you going to be wearing that muscle tri suit for the race this weekend?

And like you- I'm treating this like any other race.  It's more of a long training day for me since IM Couzmel is my "A" race.

I will be!! It is too crazy not to wear!!

Glad i dropped off the bike for a tune up at all3sports...one of my pedals was trashed...knew something wasn't quite right with that thing! Did my own version of a race plan yesterday that helped calm me down some, including the final transition for beer and barbeque!

don't they recommend that once you glue to let it sit for 24 hours or so? I think I remember reading that for my XTerra wetsuit.

Do any of ya'll maybe want to get together for a BT group swim on Sat or hit up the expo and grab lunch or something??  Let me know.  I think it would be fun for a lot of us to meet.  Then we'll be able to look for each other on the race course and cheer each other along since we'll know who is who

Wow!  I'm so excited about this event!  Reno8 and I have been training hard and feel ready...as ready as we can feel given it's our first HIM.

I would love to get together with other BTers and meet some of the names I see on here, plus all the emotional support of giving me a shout out as y'all pass me on the course!

Also, I'll be working in the Fleet Feet booth at the expo, all day on Friday, and 11-2 on Saturday. Stop by and we'll argue politics or religion.

I'd be up for a group swim Saturday morning. Would be nice to meet some of you guys. And anyone here who is also doing 2009 IMFL.

Headed out tomorrow at noon for Augusta. Looking forward to the weekend and race!

I'm in for both!  You tapering at all for Augusta?  I'm doing a four day taper and planning on not much recovery afterwards.  Need those long days!
