I'm down for the hat/visor...I like the visor idea since we get a IM finisher hat...

I wouldn't want the same t-shirt again...

Phatknot, we could get you one of those visor's w/ hair attached...just saying...

Hat/visor is good for me.  I agree, plenty of tee shirts.  Could probably be talked into a technical tee, but definately don't need any more cotton ones!!!

Last year there was the option of the t-shirt or a technical tee. I personally don't wear hats, so I'm not excited about that option. I guess we could do both options and just have them be somewhat the same color.

Hope everyone's training is going well! I just started able to get back to running this week - had weird hip pains everytime i ran but doc wasn't able to see anything in my mri's or x-rays- at least it wasn't a fracture. I'm still on the fence about if I should drive ny or fly down there. I do like to bring a lot of "just in case items" but since this is my first ironman I would think while we are driving down there I might turn into a nervous wreck and drive my boyfriend nuts! I think it would be a safer bet to fly!

I suppose I'd vote for a technical T.  It sure is fun to be part of the group and the T-shirts do help us find each other.  I really like the one I have from '08.  I just don't have a lot of IM stuff.  It's one of my 'treasured' shirts.

I suppose a hat would work.    I already have two IM hats, and hopefully in November I'll have another finisher's hat.

Shirts last two years were offered in either tech shirts or regular shirts for both athletes and support crew. It really makes it easier to spot others while hanging out race week.

I love my shirts and have both years. I wear it to other BT gatherings it has nice big BT logo on the front.

We need someone to head up doing the organizing for shirts and/or hats. What happened last year is we did a who wanted what probably to get estimate of count to get pricing. Once there was a price folks pay pal or mailed check/money to coordinator by a certain deadline. Shirts were mailed directly to folks and arrived maybe 10 days before the race. Last year Brittney did the collecting and organizing and the BTer who did the ordering the previous year coordinated it again with local print shop and mailed them all out.

I'd get tech shirt and if we did hats maybe one if it was wicking.

I'd be in for a tech shirt.  They wear out over time.

Hat - not too sure about.  I have a small head and finding hats that fit are hard.  My viser is really too big for me

hey
what about a wicking toupee or hair extensions haha?

I guess if someone steps up to look into this we can make options like a tech shirt or hat. I just want them to be bright, like chartreuse so we can see each other in the crowds.

Ok, its early and all but I had my first IMFL nightmare. My bike got pinched while we left it in transition overnight. Even my bags were gone. All that was left was a bathing suit. If I wasn't a psychologist in real life, I'd have to ask you all what it means.

Hello! Look's like I am a bit late to the party but happy to be here. I just joined BT and I will be racing IMFL this November. Can I get added to "the List?" Distancegirl = Toni, first time at IMFL. I start my official training plan tomorrow.

the shirts REALLY help to spot BTers and BT supporters.  I woudl love a hat as well I have not raced in any of this stuff but I train in my BT/IMFL gear all the time.  I have yet to wear my finisher shirts from the last 2 years because they are icky cotton Ts

I was the one who ordered the shirts last year and since I'm actually doing the race , I could do it again this year.  I could also check into hats.  I'd probably want to change up the design a little more this year.

id be glad to help in organizing or something.... last year at IMaz We did rwb bracelets that weren't easily identifiable. Thats why i want chartreuse hats or shirts, or even hot pink. the brighter the better so we can all know who we are.

I say go for it....pick a bright color so logo shows well.

I like the '08 wicking shirt more than '09 as the material was slightly different if I can make the suggestion.

Hat's would rock...I'd get both.

They are great shirts.

OK - another crazy idea.

I have known that my current regular bike was not going to be suitable for IMFL - had planned on going back to my old bike - which always felt a little small - I would have to change the crank and cassette plus update other components and probably rent wheels.

So my question is .... is renting a bike for IMFL as crazy as it sounds.

Once you all pick yourselves off of the floor, comments and possible rental sources would be appreciated.

What I'd save on rebuilding a compromise bike, I'd plan on spending on extra time in FL on the front side and a proper bike fitting.

TIA

My suggestion is based on my experience and life but I felt that IM was such a grand experience that I didn't want anything to interfere with successful completion. So I got a nice used bike that fit. Thats the two keys right there. Used and good fit. Then, you can always re-sell it if you wish and get as much equity back. There are loads on ebay and craigslist this time of year at a mere fraction of what they originally sold for.

I agree with what phatknot said.

That said, I was suprised at the quality of the bicycles available for rent at IMFL in '08.  NICE Cervelos.  And they were available right at the race venue.  The price to rent one was about what I paid to ship my bike to Florida from Texas.

I think I'd only rent though if I already rode the brand they were renting, and I'd take my own seat - as well as all the critical measurments.

The ride is too long to be on a bike that you're not familiar and comfortable with.  What if you need to do some small on-the-road repair.  I don't think working on a strange bike in a race would be much fun.

Besides here's a great excuse to buy a 'new' bike right now!

What more could you ask for?
 --Thank phatknot for that one.

.... ..gee, I may have to go look at Craigs list for that carbon road bike I've been wanting.
