I got out this morning for a walk/run; the heel feels pretty OK. Tomorrow I'm doing my first OWS of the year! Water temp ~66 Brrr! This is a workout right? not a race? So do you have/wear a wetsuit? Just curious. I have been thinking about going to a local lake, but I don't own a wetsuit. I am not sure I could handle the cold without one. Yeah, this is a swim practice. One of the local race organizers is running it at a lake. Unfortunately, it'll take over an hour to get there and I need to be there no later that 7:45am! I've got a BlueSeventy full wetsuit, neoprene hood, and booties. Chilly! I learned that some of those instant heat pads under the arms and in the groin area will warm you up right quick after an early season swim. Have fun! So, this morning they told us that the water was 58F! It honestly didn't feel that bad, so I don't really know what it was. They advertised the water as being vegetation-free, but it wasn't; it was constant and very annoying. It was an out and back course advertised as 300m around but it had to be at least 50m longer. I swam one lap, stopped, swam a lap, stopped, and then swam 3 continuous laps. I was slower than I'd like, but I guess I'm ready for my race next Sunday. |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Team B - April Challenge We've gotten VERRRRY quiet! I went out on the tri bike today with the new pedals. I loosened up the tension a bit and had no problems with my heel :D Had my best ride on this route so far this year. The bike has been cleaned and will be ready to go for next Sunday as soon as I get her lubed. The race route will be flatter/easier/faster than what I've been training on so I'm hoping for a really good ride. |

Master 1734 On a lake in the Adirondacks in NY | Subject: RE: Team B - April Challenge Hey team! Thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing. I've been doing my workouts, including a 7 mile run this morning. That's only my second 7 mile run ever. I did the last one in the fall right before I got lazy and stopped training. I'm so glad you're all out here for motivation. |

SO SORRY to hear about your puppy. I hate to say it but I have an inkling of what you are going through. We lost our 9.5 month old puppy on 3/27 of this year - just over a month ago. It does get easier even if you don't believe it right now. We were devestated but we are doing better a month later. So sorry again... Pain free in the foot is a good thing. Hugs to you. Stacie |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: Team B - April Challenge Hola team! I don't think I will be able to make my goals this month. DRATS!!! I haven't really been able to swim here in Oaxaca. There is no pool where I am staying and really no public pool around that I can use or even find, never mind get to. I may try to do a mountain bike ride before I leave but we will see how that goes. The heat here is oppressive. I am doing my best to hit 100% for the run and strength goals. |

Extreme Veteran 541 Virginny | Subject: RE: Team B - April Challenge I could use another day! A weekend day! Sorry, team, I don't think I can get 4 workouts in the next two days, between full time work and baby... But I should be able to do 2 or 3. Just can't get all the bike riding in... I went for a run this AM. I usually do 1 min walk/5 min run. Well, I came upon a woman walking her dog, who happened to be the chair of the committee that decides on my tenure next year, and thought, I can't take a walk break now! So I kept running strong! Then I got a cramp, and ended up doing a lot of walking the rest of the workout. boo. Life will be better in the summer. |
