Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN I've been in a bit of a funk this week. Ironman NZ is on this weekend. So my facebook/instagram etc. is full of people gearing up for the big day. And although with the amount of time it took to get over my ankle injury deferring was the right choice, it still sucks not to be there. And to make it all worse, after getting over the ankle (was released from physio on Monday), and starting to get back into something like normal training, I've hurt something in my forefoot. Ran Monday, was a bit sore at the end of the run, was sore Tuesday but still went for a spin (bike shoes hold everything still so didn't hurt), and really bad Wednesday. No idea what I've done, but booked to see a Dr early next week if it doesn't come right before then. Just can't seem to catch a break at the moment. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN 1:25 on the trainer this morning doing Over/Under (10% under FTP for 1'; 10% over FTP for 2'). Overall it went well, except for that point where I had to stop and get a banana because I was starting to shake and the only thing I could think was low blood sugar (hasn't eaten anything before I started). Banana fixed it, so it probably was low blood sugar. and...on another note. I'm not a "real doctor" , but I know enough about human skeletons to know that there SHOULD NOT be a freaking hole in my femur at the knee joint. Haven't talk to any of those real doctors about this, but I'm gonna guess knee surgery is in my future. (knee.png) Attachments ---------------- knee.png (40KB - 2 downloads) |

They usually give enough info in there that you can google (or you may even know with your human anatomy knowledge) to get a diagnosis in advance of an ortho. Enough knowledge to be dangerous. Over/unders are fun. How many oscillations do they have you do? MIne are typically 6-9', and I do 2-4 of them in a workout. A lot of the Sufferfest FTP-targeting workouts are more-or-less over/unders, though the power jumps around more. |

I'll pile on my getting a nerve block injection next week L5. I got one in my SI joint like a month ago- it fixed something back there but not the nerve inflammation so back to the needle guy. |

Dr. Google told me I was going to die. :D Yeah, I did get the radiologist's report. There are enough words in there I associate with "oh poop, that must have hurt" with my own work on skeletons to know this isn't gonna be good. But...who cares. As long as the leg doesn't fall off before August. Today's over/under session was 3x(1' under/2' over) with 5' rest interval, repeated five times. Coach usually does something similar, although I think I'm increasing in the number of repeats. I think last week it was only four. Edited by drfoodlove 2020-03-05 2:31 PM |

Yup, same foot as the rolled ankle which caused the Ironman deferral. Yeah, because I didn't notice anything specific to cause it, I'm thinking it is related to the ankle, maybe I've been running funny unconciously trying to favor the ankle or something. Anyhow it is feeling a lot better than Wednesday, so I'll do a short spin tonight, and the plan is to run Saturday morning if no change. |

That looks painful just looking at it. Hopefully the Drs are able to get you through to August before surgery. Wishing you better luck than I've been having! |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN It’s been gone a bit and I’m catching up on everyone’s posts - I LOVE seeing the activity, it’s great (but less illness and injury would be even better). - I just have a cold, this too shall pass. Got an hour on the trainer yesterday and 30 minutes running the day before, not a lot of training nor consistent but this year I take what I can get. I’ll have to fill in the last few weeks later but they include an 11 day trip to Hawaii (and yes, I stood on the shores of the IM swim start and drove along the Queen K and Ali’i Drive. Eek! Pictures were taken and will be posted when I finally get home in another 8 days. I have not set foot in my house in over a month now. |

228 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN I've only got one race planned for this season, the Ron John's Cocoa Beach sprint April 5th. My wife is doing it as her first sprint Duathlon, my best friend and his wife are both doing it (it was his first sprint @ Cocoa several years ago that got me interested, and this will be his wife's first sprint). With Mrs Riles getting into Duathlons, and my friend getting back into triathlon, I'll probably do another sprint or two over the summer and look for an Oly around September/October. I'm also helping my wife train for her first HM in April (I'm not racing that one, just supporting). And I've joined her on a challenge to do a 5k race each month for a year. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN 2500yds in the pool this morning and it was awesome. One of the best swims I've had in a long time. Everything thing worked. Everything was smooth. Everything was fast. I'm having a rough week over here with the end of the 8-week term and a bunch of stuff falling due, so this was a much needed boost. |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN Hope everyone's injuries heal quick! I had an appointment this morning for my shoulder. She does not think anything is torn. She says it's rotator cuff tendonitis and scapular pain, so is putting me on steroids for a week (she said she can't do a cortisone shot since my pain is everywhere, lol), and I will start PT 2x per week. She also said I can go ahead and do all my activities They won't make it worse, just might hurt. But I should not do certain exercises, like push ups (don't have to tell me twice! Gonna assume burpees are in that category too!! hehe). Basically the best news I could've gotten, especially since I want to play some vball on Sunday Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN A day of fun at my house! Spent the morning prepping a room to be painted (washing drywall dust sucks, by the way) and then went for a 30’ run while the ceiling was drying. Now there is going to be a paint, ride, paint biathlon. Worst Multisport ever. |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN Yesterday: 30 minutes upper body and core weights while waiting for the Peloton at hotel gym, 45 minutes on the bike then a 2 mile run. On deck today - 2 hour trainer ride here in KY. It’s a beautiful day here but I don’t have any cold weather gear to ride outside. |

Now for some more painting. Ceiling is done...walls left. Slowly this house is getting itself back together. It has been a year since some part of my house wasn’t in repair or remodel. |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN Gretchen, great job getting it all done! I feel like over the years you’ve constantly been working on your house, then I remembered you built a shed too. Hey, how did it pan out with the roofers - did they fix your ceiling? I assume so? - is that what you’ve been painting, the fixed ceiling/walls? |

1941 , Vermont | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN Two hour trainer ride yesterday and 45 minute run today. Legs were feeling it today from the biking the last couple of days and weights I did Friday. I wasn’t going to take a rest day tomorrow because I kind of have to workout when I can, but I have managed to get 3 runs and 3 bikes in this week. Yay! Need to swim at some point. |
