Brass is in from Phoenix so I got my workout done (still on track with my Jogo) but didn't get my core stuff done (yet). Treated myself to Sbux for getting my hiney outta bed for the swim! Jo and Jo, get better. Yanti, I'm sure you will get everything to some semblance of control. We'll send dental floss if needed |

Couldn't get a proper stroke going on, we were swimming through the plants and getting tangled in them. I had a major panic attack and couldn't calm myself down again, swam about 85% breast stroke. It was really tough going. 4 people got pulled out of the swim, including my bro in law. Not fun. Originally posted by Richardsdrr Had an Aquathlon of two halves. The good, and the bad. Swim was a complete nightmare, but then went on to smash not only my tri 5km time by 3:09, but my standalone 5km time by 1:29 also. So well chuffed with that, but am getting really worried about the swim in a few weeks. Not far off sub 20 min, my target for this year Congrats on the run! Why/how was the swim bad? Did you struggle in the water? I have a real issue with flora in the water! I hate seaweed and the like. I also hate jelly fish - here in silly Australia those things can kill ya. And then there's the sharks. I wonder actually why I love OWS at all! Well done, you got through it. It's probably the worst you'll deal with so next time will be awesome. My trick of late when I get those panicky moments (yes I still get them) is to count 100 freestyle strokes and then I'm allowed 25 breaststroke if I need it. If I don't take it I have to wait for the next 100. It really focusses your mind on something other than the panic and plantlife etc. Dude....I should never watch the nature channels late at night. I saw a special on the Irukandji jellyfish and now I am terrified to ever swim in Australia. I got stung a bunch during the NYC tri and that was bad enough. Yep, same here. No nature shows at night... we watched a couple of episodes of River Monsters and yeah... no more at night!!! |

Fell on the treadmill during my personal training session with new trainer man. Ouch! ouch! ouch! but way to HTFU and show the new boy what a manatee is made of! :D![]() Poor young piglet, I was his 1st injury. If there is no bone showing, keep going!!! Isn't that what we Manatees do? Well it is what I did, at least. Yes, treadmill burns. So this is the story: "we are going to finish our session with some speed work. I am going to set the treadmill at 7mph and you are going to jump on for 100m then jump to the side for 50m and take total rest then repeat. 1st jump on did not go well. When I fell, I grabbed the top of the treadmill not to get launched but the mill was still turning. He was yelling at me to let go and I yelled at him to press the stop button. I let go because he was not stopping so the bloody one is the result of the launch on to the rug. The others are just treadmill burns. My DNA is definitely on that belt. I couldn't find a comfortable sleeping spot last night but other than the sting of the burn, it won't stop me!! I am a MANATEE!!! Fachmie! If you ever want to try the jumping to the side of the moving treadmill thing again--which, quite frankly, I wouldn't blame you ONE BIT for not wanting to ever do again--I put my hands on the rails while getting on and off and I keep my hands on the rails (suspending a bit of my weight with my arms) while I take the first five or six strides back into the run. That looks like it FACHING HURTS. I'm sorry you had bad sleep last night:/ I'm glad that it's "merely" a flesh wound, and you don't have torn ligaments or anything. Cripes! Take care of you. Hugs. Yes, actually I do still trust him. This was a mistake and after my last training experience I didn't speak up. I really like this piglet and up until now he has been so great at explaining things and working to improve my strength for running specifically. When he told me what to do, I thought he was crazy and thought I am totally going to kill myself doing this. I didn't say anything, trying to be an obedient client. I should have. The Mama Hen voice inside my head was saying, never get on a moving treadmill. I probably would've done okay with my arms on the side bars but he had me put my hands on the middle HR bars to jump on. I couldn't distribute my weight properly. I bet he never has another client do that again. He looked so frightened and freaked out after and felt so bad. I know his intentions were good and he really would never try to hurt someone. He is a treasure but we all make mistakes. I hope this didn't frighten him off. In 5 sessions with him, I have learned more and gotten so much stronger than I ever did with trainer idiot boy. I really should check youtube to see if I've gone viral. I wonder if someone videoed. America's Funniest Home Video's HERE I COME!! There were tons of people at the gym who witnessed this because we had awful storms last night. Everyone was inside training. Well ... I am glad you are alright. Not sure how I feel about this jumping on and off speedwork shyte though. Ok, I am sure how I feel about it. That's a great way to get hurt. Not to mention, when does one ever laterally jump into a full speed sprint (which I assume 7 MPH to be for you, correct me if I am wrong) and then jump to the side? |

Ooooh - I like what you chose, and if you want to go with the blue - go for the blue! It looks like the blue of the top matches the blue of the bottoms, so don't worry about it. For ME (because I'm a bit of a dork) I'd go with the black top, just because I'd want to look ninja-stealthy like in all black. |

I like how it will look, but I'm doing a tri in Virginia at the end of July, so it will be HOT. The blue seems like a better decision for here. Monica, the blue on the jersey does match the blue on the shorts. |

ETA: this is their description of the black fabric "ColdBlack is a built-in technology that makes a dark fabric the same temperature as a white fabric and reduces perspiration by up to 58% while providing 50+ UPF sun protection." So maybe the black is ok? Edited by Artemis 2013-06-28 12:50 PM |

Get the one that's most you and that's the one you'll race best in as it'll have you in the best state of mind. |

The front is only OK but the back is really sharp. My DH would like it because it would be easier to spot that the black top.

Not to mention, when does one ever laterally jump into a full speed sprint (which I assume 7 MPH to be for you, correct me if I am wrong) and then jump to the side? Yeah, it's a method for working with treadmills. From ones I've used they take so long to get up and down from speed when doing short higher intensity intervals it kind of messes things up. Might take a full minute to get all the way up to speed. A substantial part of 3-4 minute intervals let alone shorter things. It should be more of a step on and off as opposed to an actual jump. I can't see how the middle bar is really that safe. Think I see what he's trying to do, but MUCH prefer to use side rails. One hand on each side, kind of like parallel bars. I can put my torso out in position over the belt and get my legs up to speed from there and put more weight on as I'm ready. There is virtually no side movement with that, or landing impact to work in either. |
