Racing this weekend? plotting your '13 calendar? or both?

If you're not racing, what's your favorite Thanksgiving recipe? tradition?

No racing here and not much plotting going on either.  I am very likely going to do the same races I did last year: 2 Olys and 1 HIM.   I want to take my training up another notch and improve my times.  IM in 2014.

I only get to the US for T-day every 10 years or so.  I love all the T-day foods, but my favorite is a sausage based stuffing.  Fresh brussel sprouts roasted (not boiled until they're soft) are great, but then again, I also like beets.

Finally...I too was an Oakland Raiders fan when I was growing up.  They were really good back then....Daryle Lamonica, Ken Stabler, Fred Biletnikoff, George Blanda and coach John Madden.

Yup....I'm in a mixed marriage.  A Niners fan married to a Raider fan.  Guess who's happier right now?  Who's got it better than us?  ;-)

Who wants to share their mushroom pie recipe?  I make mushroom bread pudding for Christmas, but this sounds yummy too.

No racing for me this weekend although if I could find one, I would do it in a heartbeat. I am a hunters widow.  The man left to shoot birds in KY this morning.

Super jealous. I'd love to be hunting with Paul, and I have a dog who would love it as well!!! Hope it all goes well for him!

X2 on mushroom pie recipes. I'll take your mushroom bread pudding recipe while I'm at it! We don't do any mushroom dishes but Dave and I both love shroomies so I'd love to try one!!!!!!!

Oh, not racing this weekend.  Still in a holding pattern with my Dad.  Favorite turkey day food.....mashed potatoes and gravygravygravy. yum.  When it's at our house, talking turkey, we fry one and roast one (for the gravy!!)

I am sick again.  Uggh!!  Can't stop coughing and can't sleep, so I might as well surf around the site.  I went to my PT yesterday and after finishing a HM and a couple of weeks with no pain in my foot, he managed to make it sore again.  I'm not sure what to think at this point, but I'm definitely not happy.  Is this a common thing working with PT's?  These guys work on triathletes and sponsor local tri's, so I thought they would be a good fit.

Speaking of good fits, I bought a tribike (early Christmas present to me) and am supposed to be getting fit tomorrow evening.  I'll just have to see how I'm feeling during the day tomorrow.  Now I am in the market for a trainer and unless someone convinces me otherwise, I am looking for KK Fluid Road Machine.  Was hoping to pick up the one in the classifieds on here today, but I think I was too late.  Does anybody know someone selling one cheap?

Warning this recipe is not heart healthy, but it is GOOD!  I diddle around with it a bit, more bread, more mushrooms.  It is pretty fool proof.

PS.  One of Paul's favorite parts of bird hunting is working the dogs.  He obviously didn't take Cooper so he ends up working with one of the dogs provided by the outfitter.  He comes home raving about their talents every-time.

I do know a few people who have had issues with their PT, damaging them by working them too hard.  I hope your setback isn't serious.

If you can afford it, screw the trainer and go for the CT.

sucks your sick.    we're going through it over here too.    i'd talk to the pt about it if not get rid of him/her.

cool news about the bike.  any details?

i think the kk is a good investment because its a solid well established piece of equipment that can get you going indoors right now.  i bought my first one at rei 4 years ago.  something broke on it and they replaced it for free last spring.

past this, there are lots of options out there for other bike related training aids.  i'd assess your long term goals, equipment needs/requirements, budget, etc... and then ask tons of questions before making any decisions.

Racing this weekend? plotting your '13 calendar? or both?

If you're not racing, what's your favorite Thanksgiving recipe? tradition?

Surprisingly, I have another Cross Race this weekend.  After all 'tis my season.  I am breaking out of the Wisconsin Series, hoping that I don't lose to many points on the cup lead being gone, and heading over to Iowa City, IA to race with the National Big Dogs at Jingle Cross.  I am racing Masters Open again, so it should be a fun but interesting weekend and really give me a feeling on where I stand for Nationals in January.  We have about 10 guys from the team racing ranging from Juniors to Pro, so long days with lots of cowbell and maybe an adult beverage or 3.

My youngest is off to New York City with all the Seniors from her dance team to dance with The Spirit of America Dance team in the Macy's Day Parade, so my bride is a widow this weekend also.  Is there such thing as a Bike widow?

Thanksgiving ........  easily one of my favorite meals.  Fill the plate and make it swim in gravy and then add a little more gravy....  maybe I should just use a bowl?

Good luck to all our racers this weekend.  REPRESENT!!!!

I will be at the JFK 50 Ultramarathon Saturday to cheer on the racers. I am plotting my races for 2013 to include more local venues to save $$$. My favorite Thanksgiving recipe is Sweet Potatoe Pie.

No racing or plotting for me. Think I'll be doing more small local races that I can register for race morning as planning hasn't been working well for me lately. Definitely going to do more orienteering races, as they fit the bill. Also thinking about getting a mountain bike... any recommendations? Oh, and then there's REV3 Portland, since I deferred from last year it is definitely on the calendar.  Maybe I have been plotting more than I realized, lol.

Favorite Thanksgiving food... stuffing. Going to try a gluten free version this year for Gary. The mushroom recipes sound delicious too!

Vancouver Marathon or Half is on the radar, as well. My Aunt, whom was my inspiration for running my first Half, is going to be running. It would be awesome to run it with her! It would be great to meet Trevor and any other MG folks too!

I'm not racing this weekend.  My ankle is still hurting from IMFL.

I like stuffing best for Thanksgiving.  I'm not sure what I'm doing for Thanksgiving.  My original plans are changing. I'm not to excited about cooking just for my two girls and me. Maybe I knock on a random neighbors door and invite myself over.  Or not. I'm sure I'll get it all figured out but for now I'm up in the air.

Ok, so I just bought a trainer.  Where do I go from here to get everything set up?  One of the sites I am looking at is Trainer Road, but I'm not sure I completely understand everything I need to get it set up.  It looks like I need a Garmin ANT+ stick ($30) and a Garmin GSC Ten Speed Cadence Bike Sensor ($35), plus a laptop.  Is that everything?  And does it matter that I don't have 300 or 900 series Garmin watch?  Or is there a better setup I can get for about the same money?

Which trainer did you get? How is it you "need" a computer? Did you buy a computrainer? I would say you don't need all this stuff unless you will use it long term(once you hit the dry roads). Otherwise buy a cheap bike computer to monitor speed, distance, and cadence...

We have tenderloin that we grill the night before and serve room temperature the next day.  I used to make a ham too, but everyone ate the tenderloin and the ham was barely touched.  I still make tons of sides, but not dups from the Thanksgiving meal.

Christmas is Stone Crab, Stuffed Vienna Bread, Peel & Eat Shrimp, Swedish Meatballs, Cheesy Potatoes at one house.  Beef Fondue at the other.  Love them both......  Laughing

We are big turkey fans at my house, so we basically have the same dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  But growing up my mother always did a prime rib dinner for Thanksgiving.

I bought a KK Fluid Road Machine.  Honestly, I don't know what I need.  I'm just reading from a lot of sites and trying to piece everything together.  But if a bike computer will suffice, that's what I'm going with.  Thanks for the response.
