Thanks SOO much to all you guys at home cheering us on & to all those GREAT BT folks out on the course! I loved the BT love signs! It was a HOT and HARD day out there, there was lots and lots of carnaige, congrats to all those that participated - finishers or not. Just getting to that start line & jumping in the river makes you a champion. I wasn't able to do much encouraging out on the course, I had a bit of a rough day, so YAY to all you guys that I didn't get to cheer on along the way! Way to go guys!!!

Oh Kenny...I'm so sorry, sweetie.

The gal who asked if you were okay wheeling into the med area (and subsequently on the way out, too) was me.

You're my hero. Mike was telling me about some of your troubles out there and I am massively impressed with your candor and perspective on the situation. You can--and will--do this.

Big hugs to you darlin'. Big hugs to you.

FYI...I think I have finish line photos of Rogollio (you were in neon yellow, right?!) and someone else in a BT top (587? 581? not sure...I can't read your number very well) who finished when the clock said 15:37:40 (i have 3 of you).

When I get home I'll post 'em for your viewing pleasure!

It was a rough day for everyone and you guys stuck it out.. I am proud of all of you. And also thanks to all of you that put the signs on the course and helped out through the weekend. I know we here it all the time on here, but it is true.... we couldn't race without you. Thanks....

Now it's time to get cleaned up...haha.. after typing that last night. I passed out in the bed. Oh how the hotel cleaning people are going to love me. haha

Great job, BT'ers!  I was able to meet some of you guys during the few days leading up to the race...be it on the street, in restaurants, or at my hotel.  I met one or two of you in the TA.

I was the one in the Olympic Club uniform (bib #1799) cheering you on with a "Go BT!" out on the course.  I finished 13:13:33.  It was a tough day out there...from the warm water/no wetsuit swim, to the HOT bike (with unbelievable car traffic congestion) & run.

This might be my favorite sentence of all-time on BT.

Sorry to hear you didn't make it Kenny, you still kicked a lot of *ss out there.

Props to all the BTers who toed the starting line.  I couldn't even imagine signing up for a race with the potential heat/humidity of IMKY.

Kenny - pretty awesome effort to overcome some huge obsticles.  Love your attitude, and congratulations on making it to mile 20 - thats quite an accomplishment given what fell in your way.

Great attitude guy.  Congratulations!

Kenny,

My motto is Finish or get an ambulance ride.  So, you did everything you could.  Way to find your body's limit.  It's not something most people can do.  You my MAN...are exemplary.

Thats awesome!  Yea ... wait to push it to the limit Kenny.  At least that way, you know you gave it everything you had and left nothing left out on the course.  The fact they had to pull you off in an ambulance shows how tough you are.  Thats pretty bad if you ask me, especially everything that you had to suffer through up until that point.

HELLO EVERYONE!!!!

Thanks so much for following all of us out on the course. When I hit a low point on my run... right around mile 14 ish when we had to pass over the finish line to head about out for MANY more miles... I kept reminding myself that people were watching me and I had to keep going. Each time I crossed a timing mat I knew people out there would be cheering for me.

Overall I had a really solid day. Yes, it was hard. But I had a plan and stuck to it.

When my tummy didn't feel great I backed off on the nutrition until it settled down. When I tried to start running 5 minutes into the run and both my Achilles heels were extreme pain, I walked fast. When I started getting a blister, I sat down and put more body glide on my feet. When I screamed at all the dang headwind, I reminded myself that doing an Ironman is hard! When I started having a low point on the run, I said out loud, "It's all about attitude! Stay positive! Keep moving forward!" When I had a really negative person around me complaining about how horrible her race was and how much pain she was in... I quickly moved on. I didn't need to hear that at mile 18 on my marathon!

I soaked up the day. I talked to my crew between segments. Yes, even at the finish line! High five's for the spectators and hugs for my crew! HA!

OH! And get this, after all that fan fare. I had my head turned to the SIDE in my freaking finishers picture! WTH? I'm so upset. *Sigh* Serves me right?

Finally... it was great meeting BTers and getting to see them on the course! I even saw and chatted with Aaron three times. It was so much fun waiting in line for the swim with Abbie and Amy! It made the time fly by! The best thing that started the day was this guy asking us in the swim line if it was a mass start. Uuuuuhhhh.. no. Did you read the athlete's guide? HA!

So overall a really great day! I'm glad I am an Ironman.

Been there. Done that. Bought the bumper sticker. Ain't going back.

First of all thank you very much to all the volunteers out there yesterday. I tried my best to thank everyone of the volunteers I came across and the cool thing was most of them said thanks for coming out and racing. How cool is that. Anyway, I haven't been on this board that long, but you guys don't know how much you've helped me get to this dream of ironman. Yesterday was one of the most incredible days of my life. It was great meeting many of you and I'm proud of everyone, finish or not, for just having the nerve to start something of this magnitude. BTW, my family and I were standing at the finish line and they all said "Look at that woman walking up the chute and just chatting away having a blast." Guess who that was? hahaha

Thanks to everyone who volunteered.  You guys made the event happen and made it bearable.  The volunteers I encountered were helpful and pleasant and never tired.

Thanks also to those of you who cheered us on virtually yesterday!

My heart goes out to the DNFs.  Until you put your heart and soul into a race and DNF, it's hard to grasp just how hard it is.  I've DNF'd before and there is nothing anyone can say that will mitigate the emotions you're feeling.  Just take some satisfaction that you had the guts to swing for the fence in the first place!

Lastly, congratulations to all the finishers.  The course is difficult but you pressed on toward your goal.  Well done!

~Mike

I was "watching" on and off all day. I am proud of everyone who made it to the starting line.
What a day you had weather-wise. I know from Eagleman that's a dealbreaker (in your head). Mine is two races from now and I can't even begin to imagine the pain.
Way to go everyone. Now recover!

It was a GREAT day. First time at the full distance. I didn't really notice the heat until the run. But it was really hard to stay "cool" even with all the amenities.

well I made it. first off I would like to thank all the volunteers for helping out, you guys are awsome and a race of this magnitude wouldent be posible without you. the conditions were brutal but I must say there was alot of bt's out there. I saw Kenny on the run, and Aaron a few times taking pictures and talking to people on the run. my heart goes out to the athletes that did not finnish, my wife took me to the medical room (I had giant blisters on my feet and the cramping was so bad I could hardly stand) after I crossed the finish line and I couldent belive it. It looked like a recovery room from a warzone. I was placed next to a triathlete from St. Louis and he passed out at mile 19 and thats all he rememberd. I felt terible for him, but we were all warriors that day. just to make it that far is a great accomplishment.

Thanks for all the cheering!  Just knowing BTers were there for us made a difference.  It was a tough race, but an amazing experience.  Special thanks to tnickerson (Tammy) and Yoganerd (Sharon).  They were the most amazing volunteers!!  Thanks to all the fellow BTers for making my first IM a truely wonderful experience!!!

Thanks to everyone who was cheering us on, live and virtually.  When your day is going south, you can get so much energy knowing that others are with you.

BIG thanks to all the volunteers who spent a sweltering day helping others pursue a dream.  Nothing can truly state how much this is appreciated.

Just got in from out of town so couldn't follow the race.   Congrats BTers on toughing it out on a brutal day.

Jenn - I am sorry for the DNF......  It doesn't change my opinion of you one bit.   You're still a hero in my book for getting back to the start line.  I know the finish is still there for you if you want it at some point...

And Kenny - dude, your story was amazing.  We've got something else in common now, our first ambulance rides were as we were being taken away from our first IM DNF.  I like Dan's motto, let's try not to do it again though, eh?
