Champion 5312![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Calgary | Subject: RE: JuniperJen's Keeping It Consistent Group - FULLThis week. Same as last week, longer tempo run on wednesday and 28-30 k long run on the weekend. Last week was good. Got 83k in, which is awesome. Long run sucked though, too much to eat the day before made it slow and gloomy, but at least I got through it. Today's run was surprisingly painfree even though I was horribly stiff last night. |

Growing up swimming competitively has given me skills for sure even when I'm completely out of shape, I can still swim. Just a quick post to let you all know I'm still alive and training hard. Off to work now so I will try to get back on tonight and post my weeks plan. |

I have been working out though and I just updated my log. I've done 4 of 5 workouts the past two weeks and am aiming to get all 5 this week. Although I didn't get them all in last week I'm still doing 4 more workouts each week than I was a month ago so its still a step in the right direction. So here's this weeks plan (and I already did todays workout) Mon: 45 min workout dvd tue: rest wed: walk 45-60 min thur: walk 20 min; cardio 15 min fri: rest/ maybe 20 min walk sat: walk 2 miles sun: 60 min workout DVD Keep up the good work! |

Oh well! It is just football Last week went pretty good for me. I missed Saturday's workout because life got in the way, but things happen. I am hoping to get all 5 workouts in this week! M-rest T-2.5 miles W-cross train R-rest F-2.5 miles S-spin S-4 miles Darren-I am most scared of the bike as well. Probably because I don't own one and am not comfortable like I am running and swimming. I like my feet on the ground ![]() The weather here in STL has been miserable. We have freezing drizzle today and have had a lot of snow for STL! I don't mind, but it is just messy. The temps have been below freezing and I don't like it! Spring cannot come soon enough! I am thinking spring today b/c I am getting ready to buy Jimmy Buffett tickets this morning! Got my workout in early. Forgot how much I love to have it done for the day!! Think I may be doing this more often! |

I follow the blog of the editor of Self magazine who is also an ironman triathlete and her latest entry really resonated with me. Katy Perry is fine and all but I liked what she said about feeling fat and racing weight and letting herself be. http://www.self.com/magazine/blogs/lucysblog/2011/01/theres-a-spark-in-youlet-it-sh.html Again - great work - i'll be around to inspire later on!! Nice article. It is too easy to let how we perceive ourselves effect how we act ---->>>which causes---->>>>>> people to perceive us in the way that we were perceiving ourselves. I was never one of those people who thought I was fat so wouldn't do things because I was fat. I did Karate when I was 250lbs, and I remember going to class and giving it my all and coming home a big sweaty mess. It felt great. I was fortunate in that the dojo I was at was awesome and supportive, so supportive. They made me believe I was an athlete when I clearly was not. 3 years later I was down to 200 pounds and one of the guys came up and said, "man, you have lost a ton of weight, I remember when you started I thought you were going to have a heart attack." There was a look in his eyes when he said it and it was very clear that he thought I would not make it. Not because of anything personal to me just that you see so many fat out of shape slobs come through the door, give it a shot for a week or a month or 4 months then just fall apart and not stick to it. I mean here I was this big fat guy....wow....I was huge. Dragging my sorry butt around the dojo, falling on myself....I looked like anything other than an athlete but I sure felt like one. I love this time of year, going out on the trails and seeing all these fat people out there running, laughing, struggling, sweating like pigs, going out too fast and collapsing. I always smile, try to give an encouraging jester or laugh or comment about the weather. I want to stop and grab them by the shoulders and scream, "don't stop, don't ever stop." Then summer comes and they are gone, maybe one or two of them stuck to it, and they look good and are fast and..... anyways, I don't know why I spout all this off. I just feel bad for that girl who wouldn't jump in the pool. Life should never be like that. |

Not sure if I shared my "plan", but every week I up my tempo run by 1k and reduce the pace by one second. In 35 weeks I will be running a marathon at a 4:42 pace. lol. This is sarcasm. |

My workout was easier than finding a parking space there! I had to drive around for 15 minutes to find an empty space! I think that everyone was trying to get a workout in before the storm hits this evening. We're expecting another 10 inches of snow overnight, ugh! I usually take a great spin class on Thursday mornings, but I'm not sure that's going to happen tomorrow. Have to wait and see how the roads are... Here's where my workouts stand so far for this week: M - swim (30 mins) Tu - run in PM (optional) - rest day W - swim (30 mins) - switched this to a 30 min run instead Th - spin class (1 hour) F - run (40 mins) Sa - masters swim Su - spin class (1 hour) |
