This week. Same as last week, longer tempo run on wednesday and 28-30 k long run on the weekend.

Last week was good. Got 83k in, which is awesome. Long run sucked though, too much to eat the day before made it slow and gloomy, but at least I got through it.

Today's run was surprisingly painfree even though I was horribly stiff last night.

Swimming is definitely my favorite because I don't feel completely inept in the water. Growing up swimming competitively has given me skills for sure even when I'm completely out of shape, I can still swim.

Just a quick post to let you all know I'm still alive and training hard. Off to work now so I will try to get back on tonight and post my weeks plan.

Did not have a lot of motivation today.  Came very close to skipping gym, but Wife convinced me not to.  As usual, glad she did.  Obviously, she supports my endeavorsCool

Did 37k on exercise bike, at gym.

My week plan:

Monday - Cycle 1 hour
Tuesday - Cycle 1 hour
Wed - ?rest ? bike  Gotta see how work treats me.
Thursday - Cycle 1 hour
Friday - Probable rest
Saturday - 75 minute Spin Class
Sunday - 1 hour Spin Class

Gonna try & run again in a week or 2.  Gonna gauge that at the time.

juniperjen - 2011-01-24 12:14 PM Here's my plan for the week

Mon: Swim, bike
Tues: Hilly run
Wed: Bike
Thurs: Tempo run, swim group
Fri: swim, yoga
Sat: long run (between 24-28k)
Sun: bike

I have to check the weekend. I know the run is right. I really need to figure out how to fit in yoga. I really love it but I especially like going to classes. Anywho, i hope to get some yoga in this week!

Last week was okay, I did a really good job at the beginning of the week and all said and done even though i missed the yoga and a bike I am still hitting the key workouts.  I have not be so hard on myself!

Nice distance on that Long run!!!

Sorry I've been MIA. Life just gets in the way sometimes. I have been working out though and I just updated my log. I've done 4 of 5 workouts the past two weeks and am aiming to get all 5 this week. Although I didn't get them all in last week I'm still doing 4 more workouts each week than I was a month ago so its still a step in the right direction. So here's this weeks plan (and I already did todays workout)
Mon: 45 min workout dvd
tue: rest
wed: walk 45-60 min
thur: walk 20 min; cardio 15 min
fri: rest/ maybe 20 min walk
sat: walk 2 miles
sun: 60 min workout DVD
Keep up the good work!

debbiereid06 - 2011-01-24 9:30 AM So sad about the Bears, but they really didn't show up to the game and played with a 3rd string QB so I guess for that they played okay.  Oh well!  It is just football

Last week went pretty good for me.  I missed Saturday's workout because life got in the way, but things happen.  I am hoping to get all 5 workouts in this week!

M-rest
T-2.5 miles
W-cross train
R-rest
F-2.5 miles
S-spin
S-4 miles

Darren-I am most scared of the bike as well.  Probably because I don't own one and am not comfortable like I am running and swimming.  I like my feet on the ground Wink

The weather here in STL has been miserable.  We have freezing drizzle today and have had a lot of snow for STL!  I don't mind, but it is just messy.  The temps have been below freezing and I don't like it!  Spring cannot come soon enough!  I am thinking spring today b/c I am getting ready to buy Jimmy Buffett tickets this morning!

Got my workout in early.  Forgot how much I love to have it done for the day!!  Think I may be doing this more often!

It's great to have a partner that encourages us, way to go. I'm thankful almost always when my husband pushes me down the stairs to the workout dungeon. (sometimes I just want to push him instead Innocent)

Sunday - Swim 900m, Pwr 90 Sweat 1-2
Monday - Run/walk 30 min, Pwr 90 Sculpt 1-2

Tuesday - Cycle 30min, Pwr 90 Sweat 1-2, Ab ripper 100
Wed - Run/walk 30min, Pwr 90 Sculpt 1-2
Thursday - Cycle 25min, Swim 1200m, Pwr 90 Sweat 1-2, Ab ripper 100
Friday - Run/Walk 40min, Pwr 90 Sculpt 1-2
Saturday - Pwr 90 Sweat 1-2, Ab ripper 100

So there's the plan. Looks ambitious but I'm on a mission. Just started a weight loss competition at work and I'm gonna win!

Great job, guys! There's so much satisfaction in crossing it off and reporting back - isn't there!

I did not fare so well last night and have a busy day at work. I will do what I can to re-jig but also remember that it's okay for now. It's not key training time for all three sports.

I follow the blog of the editor of Self magazine who is also an ironman triathlete and her latest entry really resonated with me.  Katy Perry is fine and all but I liked what she said about feeling fat and racing weight and letting herself be.

Again - great work - i'll be around to inspire later on!!

Another 35k on the bike for me.  Turned up the resistance today, so my legs don't get too acclimatized...slowed me down a little.

Looking forward to trying a run in 10 days or so...

Not much action around here. The winter blahs must be setting in!  Now is the time to focus & not give in to the blahs!!!

*steps off soapbox*

Nice article. It is too easy to let how we perceive ourselves effect how we act ---->>>which causes---->>>>>> people to perceive us in the way that we were perceiving ourselves.

I was never one of those people who thought I was fat so wouldn't do things because I was fat. I did Karate when I was 250lbs, and I remember going to class and giving it my all and coming home a big sweaty mess. It felt great. I was fortunate in that the dojo I was at was awesome and supportive, so supportive. They made me believe I was an athlete when I clearly was not. 3 years later I was down to 200 pounds and one of the guys came up and said, "man, you have lost a ton of weight, I remember when you started I thought you were going to have a heart attack." There was a look in his eyes when he said it and it was very clear that he thought I would not make it. Not because of anything personal to me just that you see so many fat out of shape slobs come through the door, give it a shot for a week or a month or 4 months then just fall apart and not stick to it. I mean here I was this big fat guy....wow....I was huge. Dragging my sorry butt around the dojo, falling on myself....I looked like anything other than an athlete but I sure felt like one.

I love this time of year, going out on the trails and seeing all these fat people out there running, laughing, struggling, sweating like pigs, going out too fast and collapsing. I always smile, try to give an encouraging jester or laugh or comment about the weather. I want to stop and grab them by the shoulders and scream, "don't stop, don't ever stop." Then summer comes and they are gone, maybe one or two of them stuck to it, and they look good and are fast and.....

anyways, I don't know why I spout all this off.

I just feel bad for that girl who wouldn't jump in the pool. Life should never be like that.

had a great run today. 7k at 5:17 pace. wow. Not sure if I shared my "plan", but every week I up my tempo run by 1k and reduce the pace by one second. In 35 weeks I will be running a marathon at a 4:42 pace. lol. This is sarcasm.

o hai! i'm back! compy was uncooperative + no compy access during workday = absent lindsay. hope everyone's having a great week!

to submit my late answers -

re: motivation. having a race. i'm running a 5k in a week and a half, and that's been very helpful in motivation. i was hoping weight loss would be somewhere in there but i haven't really lost much yet so having a pretty nearby mark is good. a wedding 7 months away...hope that helps me kick it up a notch!

re: favorite sport. training = swimming was, believe it or not, last year. then i bombed/freaked out during the swim in my tri last year. the bike turned out to be my favorite part, despite my pre-race fears of falling/getting a flat. are yalls' "favorites" the same for race/training?

my plan for the week:
weekly plan (starts Monday 1/24/11)
M - 18 min run; 20 min weights video
Tu - 36 min run
W - 18 min run; 20 min weights video
Th - 36 min run
F - 30 min spin; 20 min weights video
Sa - 18 min run; 20 min weights video
Su - 54 min run

My week has started pretty crappity!  Monday we had lots of cold rain and yesterday I planned a trainer ride but my tummy said no.  Hoping to get my long run in today and maybe a trainer ride as well.  First I have to go find out how much a new washing machine costs and get #2 to the orthodontist.

I had a good run today on the treadmill at the gym.  My workout was easier than finding a parking space there!  I had to drive around for 15 minutes to find an empty space!  I think that everyone was trying to get a workout in before the storm hits this evening.  We're expecting another 10 inches of snow overnight, ugh!  I usually take a great spin class on Thursday mornings, but I'm not sure that's going to happen tomorrow.  Have to wait and see how the roads are...

Here's where my workouts stand so far for this week:
M - swim (30 mins)
Tu - run in PM (optional) - rest day
W - swim (30 mins) - switched this to a 30 min run instead
Th - spin class (1 hour)
F - run (40 mins)
Sa - masters swim
Su - spin class (1 hour)

Hi friends!
A new first for me today! Ran more or less the whole 3.5 on the treadmill! Excited to see how this works for me outdoors. New pace was 12.12. Great to have a breakthrough on the running.
