how do they handle the marking if you are wearing compression sleeves (leg and arm)?

Last year I think it took about an hour total to get thru line for packet pickup, but they seemed to be doing it half-assed.  Getting packet is quick once youre inside.  The time waster can be the lame expo and IronMarkup store.

Transition is maybe a mile north of packet pickup.  Oh and the concession stand on the beach is maybe 100 yards north of transition.

^^^that is funny.

I noticed that there are 3 aid stations on the bike course.  Aid stations 1 & 3 have traffic both ways.  Does anyone know if we can get aid at 1 & 3 on both the way out and way in?

Thanks in advance!

They are not on both sides of road if thats what youre asking.  But the roads are such that you could cross over and hit the stop but you couldnt ride through it, you;d have to get off and walk.  I also seem to remember that Stop 3 wasnt staffed yet when I rode past it---on the outbound its only like 5 or 6 miles from transition, why you'd need to stop so soon unless bathroom I dunno.  For stop 1, if it is still open on your way back in, you could dismount and cross street for water.   Stop 2 I think you only pass once.

I am almost positive that station #1 is on both sides of the road or was last year?  Anyone else remember?

Looking forward to joining everyone for the swim on Saturday! I'm probably the only person but I'm not sure the water could possibly be too cold for me on Sunday.

1 is not on both sides of the road however once most of the traffic is past it, and traffic picks up on the back route volunteers stand on the other side of the road and catch those on the way back until they run out of supplies.

People earlier in this post have mentioned their bib numbers. Where can I find this? I haven't received anything besides the initial confirmation. I just want to make sure I wont show up and not have something I need.

Quick question re: bike aid stations.  I have never done a race with these.  Do they hand out water bottles filled with water/perform?  Do you toss the bottles you are carrying on your bike?  Or are they in original containers with the cap removed and you dump into your bottles on the bike?

I am running a Speedfil A2 on my aerobars and would like to just dump in the water/perform through the quick fill cap.  I am also going to leave one spot open in my cages so I can grab a fresh bottle and have someplace to stash it.  I will try not to weave all over the place while doing this and fully plan on stopping completely if I feel I am going to cause an issue with others.

I also have a quick question:  It appears that the bike check-in is a mile north of the packet pickup.  Can I simply just walk/ride my bike to the transition area?  I wasn't sure how congested that area is and was wondering if I have to move my car closer to transition just to drop off the bike.

Thanks in advance!

They'll hand you factory packaged bottles of water or perform.   Both have a cap on them.  It'll be no problem to empty a bottle in to your speedfil bottle.   The bike aid stations are also the garbage zones,  there are signs that indicate that you can dump old bottles, or other garbage in these zones.  It's supposed to be a penalty if you get caught tossing trash outside of the garbage zones.

Hope that helps

They hand out 20 oz bottles of perform.  But instead of a regular top they have the sports top, where you twist the lid 1/4 turn and can drink out of it.  There should be two places to toss your empty bottles, one at the beginning of the aid station and another at the end.

You can do it either way and will be fine.  Parking isn't bad at packet pick up or transition really so whatever you are comfortable with.  I find it easier to drive just because we are also swimming after we rack our bikes and we need our wetsuits etc.  Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone!

Short run today and that will be about it for me.  The bike is all set with race wheels/aero cover.  Maybe a quick ride in the neighborhood to make sure nothing is going to falls off! Probably cannot make the swim practice but I'll bring my wetsuit anyway.

Hey everyone! I still have no idea what time I'm rolling into town on Saturday, but I doubt I'll be able to make the swim at 11a. Would anybody be up for meeting sometime on Sunday? Maybe 6a in transition somewhere?
