Can we all start or re-start this Monday (8/3) so we are all doing it together?

Yep...  Will re-do week 1 next week!  John - you afraid of 100 pushups or does it bring back bad memories from your time in the service?

i just hate them!  not sure why but i do.

Good enough for me!

I'm in for Monday as well.

PSA...A new garmin does not mean you will run any faster.
But, its a friggin' cool piece of technolgy. Going to try to figure out the software tonight. But i love the fact that you can set it to vibrate instead of ring at your set distances.
I may have ran a bit slower as I left the watch in my pocket instead of on my wrist......Wink

Am I reading this correctly?  You are putting vibrating watches in your pocket?  No wonder you are excited about your new toy. WinkWink

Hi all!

I spent some time reviewing everything everyone said to me here and in my RR and I just have to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!  You guys are the best.  Thanks for knocking some sense into me and making me see things from the proper perspective!  I AM proud of my accomplishments!  Thanks for reminding me!
I don't have any other races planned for this year and was trying to figure out what to do next.  I do much better when I have a training plan downloaded into my logs.  I like being told what to do when!!  Actually, I think I NEED it, if that makes sense.  Anyway, I signed up for a BikeMS ride in September.  I downloaded a bike-focused winter maintenance plan that is 8 weeks long so it is perfect.   Yes, I realize it is not winter yet, but I figured it would work.  I also signed up for a 1/2 marathon in May.  I know it is a long way off, but it is my first and I am excited about it!
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!!!

So what do you do when you are sick?  I have been nursing a cold for a couple weeks, but the last day or so I really feel like crap.  Got a run in yesterday, and shortened the bike today and missed my swim.  On top of that, I was planning on putting in some serious volume this week, because I was out of town at my sales meeting last week.

I think I am just going to try to get a little bit of training done despite feeling like crap.  Hopefully I can do some short workouts till I come out of this.

You're 8 weeks out from Augusta.  The meat of the program is coming up.  If you are feeling that bad then I would take a few days off, get lots of rest and really take care of yourself.  You'll start feeling better in a few days then get back at it, maybe at bit easy the first few days back.  You aren't going to gain much if anything by going out there sick right now but you can sure prolong this bug if you do.  I got sick about 4 weeks out and had to take two days off.  Sucks but you'll feel better soon.  my .02.

The bike winter maintenance plan sounds perfect!  I too seem to do better with some sort of plan.  Props for signing up for the half marathon - sounds like you, Doug, and I are going to be running this fall and winter - I think we have all signed up for our first half marathon!

Dannett - I've fallen into that trap of feeling great about my performance right after a race and then I start comparing myself to how others did and start to get down on myself.  The worse was during the run on my half iron.  Instead of thinking,"wow, I am 5 miles from completing a half ironman" I was focusing on the fact that I was walking and missing my time goal by so much.  It took a lot of encouragement from my husband to learn not to compare myself to others but to focus on my personal effort. If you feel like you did great, then you did great!  We all have different abilities and they don't make someone better or worse of an athlete because of it.  Wanting to improve is always a good thing but do it as a personal goal and not because you are judging yourself inferior to others based on their performance.   I think finding a tri group is a great idea. The support from TNT is wonderful but a new group will add knowledge and experience that will help.

lol!  With a couple miles to go I was thinking oh sh*t there goes 7:20.  not that that was a goal of mine or anything. ;-)

oh, totally there with you guys.  at about 4 miles into my run, i was thinking well sh*t there goes my super secret goal of 6 hrs... glad i didn't tell a SOUL beforehand.  But Tracy you are so right, we need to focus on our own personal effort!  That's the beauty of triathlon for most of us...that aren't trying to win the darn thing, I am trying my very best everytime I go out there and that is VERY satisfying to me.  There is so much room for improvement in this sport it leaves me excited to train for the next race.

BTW, will reset and repeat week 1 for push ups and sit ups starting next monday.  Maybe my test will be better than 12 push ups and 32 sit ups.
