Anyone got plans for the holiday on Monday?

I am looking for a long ride or maybe a swim in the NW valley, but I'm solo at the moment.

I'm out. I have meetings at work until 5:30. I will probably bring my stuff just incase we get out early. But that is like a 10% chance.

I'll be there. I haven't gotten to run up a crazy-steep hill in 100 degree heat in 2 weeks. Kinda missing that

This is the OWS/RUN/DRINK Brickapalooza thread!!!  Every Thursday night in the summer we head out to Saguaro Lake, specifically Butcher Jones Cove, and do some open water swimming, followed by an tough 4 mile hill run, AND if we are lucky and have a new member to the East Side Cool Kids Tri Club who wants to pay their dues, we have beer or other beverages to drink while we stand around and commiserate afterward.

5:30 - Butcher Jones Cove.  I think if you go back to the very first post on this thread you get the details and a map if you need one.  Let us know if you are coming so we know to look for you!

I didn't answer because I knew Tanya would get in there and answer the question with perfection.

I would just mispell everything and lead you to the wrong lake.

I meant to post earlier but I took a nap.

I really need to get an OWS in as I've got a biathlon in two weeks at TTL and then a sprint on the 21st.

Who's able to go tomorrow? IOk, I just read the thread and you can count me in for 5:30 My plan calls for a 60 run with LT intervals which I'll probably do in the morning and then I've got a 2,000m swim which I'd like to do in the OW. I don't have a wet suit but I don't plan on using on for the biathlon. I doubt I'd do the run with everybody since I'll be running in the morning but that would give me time to go to the store and get some BEER!

Is there a map with driving directions on the CK website? WOW, there is a lot of information on this site if you just look for it How long does it take to get there from Chandler?

PM me if you want/need to exchange a phone number otherwise I'll see you guys there.

Let me see if I can hit everything here...

What do you mean by biathlon? What makes up the race?

It's still too hot for a wet suit, (I usually use my pull buoy just so my head knows I won't drown), so yeah...don't bring that.

I too will be running in the morning, so I am going to bring my bike with me and ride it up and down the hills people will be running.

Oh, and there is no "running to the store to get beer while people are running."  It's just too far out and will take you too long!!  (It takes about 40 min to do the run, but it would take longer than that to get to Mesa, buy beer, and come back. Especially if you plan on swimming a bit longer).

I usually tell any carpoolers who want to go with me that we need to leave the east valley by 4:45.  You would need to leave Chandler closer to 4:30 depending on where you live.  I don't think anyone has claimed my passenger seat yet, so if you want to carpool let me know.  (PM me). I live in Gilbert.  We can always pick up beer on the way if you want.

I'm in for the 4th!! I need to get in an OW swim before the big 70.3 in Austin. It's been a long time for me. I'll have to do my usual swim n' dash, since I have an extremely early morning on Friday (been getting up at 4AM to beat the heat and run, blah!). Which reminds me....I should really get my butt to bed! See you gals/guys tomorrow!

The race that I have in two weeks is a splash n dash. It's a 1,000m followed by a 3km run. I signed up to get some time in TTL before Nathan's and Soma.

I had no idea what was around in the area so I wasn't sure if "running to get beer" was an option.

If you've still got room in the car pool that would work out good. I'll send you a PM.

BTW, my cooler broke a while back and I haven't replaced it. Do you have one we could use? If not I can just buy a foam one when we get my initiatory beer if that's cool.

Yeah, I guess "biathlon" would be any two sports together but that's not very descriptive.

Biathlon usually refers to a winter sport event: cross-country skiing and shooting.

Although a desert Biathlon sounds fun. X-country skiing in the sand and shooting at varmints...

CL and I are out this week. The In-laws are coming up from down south.

I thought it was Aquathon.

Hey it is a no go for me. The wife scheduled family portraits for tonight. So I have no choice but to kick my own in the gym today. I hope you all have a good time. See you next week, promise.

With photo shop you could just be added in later and still make the swim.  Tell you wife where your priorities really are!

Thanks for the clarification, Tanya. I can't make it from Glendale to the lake in time. I think I saw a thread for west valley stuff. I'm still trying to figure this place out.
