So, I'm thinking that I should switch the Oly (it would be my first) that I'm planning to do at the end of the month to a sprint.  I haven't been able to get the training in due to my recent move, and it would probably be a major suffer fest.  I'm just not sure.  Thoughts?

Will they let you switch the race?  A lot of events won't allow that.  If it's allowed you may be wise to avoid a sufferfest

If you can switch, it's probably not a bad idea given how you feel.  Avoiding a suffer fest is always a good plan.

When in doubt, switch it up.  No sense suffering and then kicking yourself about it afterward.

Kids first day of summer vacation.  Holly is at daycare so I can take the boys and a couple of friends to Chuck E. Cheese.  Lucky me.  My oldest has been begging for months.  I try to avoid that place at all costs.  STINKY and STICKY.  YUCK!  I am horrified about the tunnels becauses someone said there was a #2 left in one of them.  GROSSSSSSS.  Oh Lord what am I doing.

Before that I am taking the kids to the Y with me so I can get my swim in.  1650 on tap for me.  I signed up for a sprint next weekend at the last minute.  Just noticed it is a half mile swim.  I haven't done that in a sprint yet.  All have been quarters.  Kind of nervous.

Oh...I'm sorry about Chuck E. Cheese.  That place is crazy!!  Hope you survive.

Enjoy the swim.  You can do it!!

Thanks for all the love, Geckos. I am home safe & sound...and hopefully my dad will make a full recovery and start taking better care of himself.

I am going to lower my goals a little...thanks for letting me.

To be fair, I missed about 3 days of training, so I'm thinking of dropping all of my goals by about 10% (3 days out of 30)...

Biking goal 180 = 162 miles

Swimming goal 10000 = 9000 meters

Running goal 80 = 70 miles (yeah, 10% would be 72...but I'm gonna have a hard time making up the run).

Judi and I did a one mile OWS race this morning.  Went really well for both of us.  I cut three minutes off my old PR.

Have a bike planned for this afternoon.

I swam the whole thing without a panic attack, hugging a kayak or bouy or a single thought of backstroke!  Definitely a first and a major breakthrough in OWS for me!

I have an hour run on tap for today...slept during part of the gorgeous afternoon (of course).  Storm clouds are rolling in.  Perhaps the bike for tomorrow and the run for today will be switched...but stuck on the trainer again for the bike.  1'40"...ugh.  I need some spinervals or something...

Congrats on the swim, Judi & Jen!

I took a nice long ride on Baby this afternoon...one of my longest solo rides, I think. And I conquered a hellacious hill that has plagued me. (OK, it wasn't pretty - but I did stay above 10 mph going up it...barely. And I had a roadie who was buzzing down the hill cheer me on...)

Got in 2:09 on the bike (that's hours and minutes).  It was hot.  Avoided most of the hills today....I needed a break from them today.

June Challenge Team Standings - Week #2

Can you believe that June is already 50% finished? Here's how the teams stack up after the second week:

FIRST PLACE - Kamikaze Geckos - 41.6%
SECOND PLACE - Avatar Avengers - 36.7%
THIRD PLACE - Cheesecake Lovers - 36.6%
FOURTH PLACE - Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) - 24.4%

Congratulations to the KAMIKAZE GECKOS!

BUT June is only halfway finished - we still have 15 more days to go! So remember - if you don't MOVE IT this month, your team is likely to LOSE IT!

Need a reminder of what happens at the end of June?

The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the June Challenge!"

All other (losing) teams will display an avatar of something that SHOULD have made them move more!
This could be your shoes (ie: you should have run more), or your bike (ie: you should have biked more), or your bathing suit (ie: you should have swam more), or.... etc.

Avatars and signature lines will be displayed for the month of July. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it.

Well if it wasn't for this challenge this month I know I would have a lot of white and yellow squares, yesterday while everyone was taking a nap I was out on my bike putting in my time... When people visit they are on vacation and I feel I should be too, so hard to fit the training in!
