Extreme Veteran 494 Olympia, WA | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Originally posted by Flyboy Well, since my brother (soretaint) posted about his ankle issues, I figured I might as well get this over with too. I've been fighting knee issues since last summer and now am looking at having to replace my left knee. Tried the off loading brace and while it works ok for walking, running is out of the question and even cycling is moderately painful. So not only will I not be doing IMCDA this year, it looks like my triathlon career may be over. I'll know a little more about that after talking to my ortho again but for now I'm thinking that way. I'll still lurk around here and any help I can offer, I'll be glad to. And we'll still do the bike course tour on Friday before the race for you out-of-towners. Good luck with all your training, be safe, and we'll see you in CDA in about 3 months! I'm sorry Stan. That's just the pits. I hope this doesn't mean the end of triathlon for you. Best wishes with your ortho visit. Thanks for all of the information you provide about this race. |

Veteran 930 Morgan Hill, California | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Another month basically in the books. This is going to get here fast! Finally bought my airplane tickets. I'm assuming most hotels don't have a shuttle from the airport in Spokane, so will need to rent a car. Feels good to knock down some of the logistics. |

Extreme Veteran 494 Olympia, WA | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Hi everyone. I hope training is going well. Today is a rest day for me so I thought I'd get the March totals going. I'm still getting over an achilles problem so the run totals are relatively low as I bridge back from doing the elliptical to actual running. It's doing much better though and I expect to be close to the scheduled run totals in April. I had a very good swim and bike month, though, and those seem to be on track. Swim: 33,650 yards - 11 hours, 33 minutes Bike: 543 miles - 32:41 Run: 70 miles - 10:01 Elliptical: 21 "miles" - 3:12 Strength: 3:25 Cheers, |

Member 87 | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Great job Brad and Mike! Me: Swim: 38,300 yards, 12 hours, 46 minutes. Bike: 437 miles, 27 hours, 18 minutes. Run: 228 miles, 31 hours, 21 minutes. Did a 90-mile bike ride today, at about 160 watts. Rolling hills, and a pretty good wind. The idea that we gotta go another 22, and, ahem, that ride will be sandwiched between two additional major undertakings, was a very sobering thought. Good ones to all. |

I'm so envious of those running miles! I long for those 200 mile months. Very good point about the sandwich as well! |

Some of the rest of our crew have some serious numbers going there no matter what metric you use. My run is coming along better than my bike or swim, two months left to get everything solid. Keep at it folks. |

Extreme Veteran 669 Olathe, Kansas | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Swim: 41791m 11h:36min Bike: 509mi 25h:33min Run: 151mi 19h:02min April and May will see increase in volume in all 3, swimming may see another 10% rise, bike will go to 200mi/week and run will be 45mi/week. Longest bike to date is 90mi, longest run is 18mi. Both will continue to grow to repeated 100mi+ and 20mi tops or 2:30 whichever comes first. This week planned at 19hrs, 13000m of swimming, 200mi biking and 32mi of running. This week has no long run in it. Loving that. |

Still trying to get the run up to where it needs to be. Legs are finally starting to come around, should have a much better April than I did March. Swim and Bike are pretty close to what my plan called for so I am happy with those. |

Keep up the great work! Ankle surgery is tomorrow and I'm hoping for a speedy recovery in order to salvage some races a bit later in the Summer this year. Cheers! How did the surgery go? They found quite a bit more damage than the MRI showed.....hence the reason it hurt like a bugger.. Problem is that I won't be allowed to run for several months instead of several weeks.. If the surgery is a success (time will tell) I will hopefully be able to run again in Aug/Sept. I should be able to start swimming/biking again before too very long, I'm hoping. Looks like "racing" will be put off until 2015 if all goes well. Frustrating!! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread John it sounds like you needed the work done and that they most likely found and fixed everything that needed to be fixed. Our prayers are with you. Now for the hard part, staying off it long enough to heal up. I always get in a lot of walking before I am allowed to run on things, but ellyptical can also work (non impact). Heal well. |
