Hi Folks!

Good to be challenging with you!  I'm in my rookie triathlon season.  I did one sprint tri in May and I am doing another sprint tri on the same course in September.  Trying to improve my time.  I came into tri from swimming, running and biking, but not doing any of them terribly fast or well.  Bike-wise, I am a survivor of 9 year of bike commuting.  I ride a cyclo-cross with slicks (Redline Conquest) which was my commuting bike for years (only tried cyclo-cross once, and still have the scars...I got the bike because it is a good sturdy commuting bike similar to a touring bike in sturdiness but built for more speed).  Most of my rides these days are still commutes.  My commute is 16.25 miles, but I add a detour on to go up a big hill at the beginning for fun, which brings it up to 18.77.  My goal is two rides a week (6 stages) for a total of 100 miles+.

Been really kind of tired and unmotivated for the past few days, so thanks for this challenge, it really is helping to kick me in the pants!

Hi all-

Jim here.  This is my second TdF challenge. Last year I was crazy enough to ride every day that the pros rode and complete a "similar" type of ride (flat, hills, TT, etc...).  Almost killed myself even just doing one-tenth the distances.  This year, a different story.  Trying to follow a exact schedule provided by BT that keeps me from over-training.  Of course, I have missed a week from other stuff in my life so I guess the over-training concern is moot.

I was on Team Orange last year and happy to be here again....we are going to win this thing!

when I click on it, it pops up with <> and computer mumbo jumbo... maybe I'm missing something?

Save it to your computer and then open it with Wordpad, or another text editor. They copy the text and paste it into your goals.

I'm doing a bike commute today. It's only about 20 miles round trip but it counts as two rides/stages.

How is everyone else doing? Are you posting your rides to the spreadsheet?

Got in a spare ride today!  It was supposed to be a swim day, but didn't feel like swimming.  Luffing around on a stationary bicycle instead, but did 12 miles on it!  Still planning another bike commute on Friday!

Whoever fixed the spreadsheet - thanks and good job! I kept trying to figure out how to get the formatting and the calculationg correct, but did not make any headway.

Hopefully I can get out of work to get to my favorite spin class at 5:30 tonight (even if it means I go back to work afterward).

I got my short ride in for the week.  Somehow my schedule is screwed up and my long ride is on Thursday, planning on doing that one on Sunday.  I'm going to try and squeeze in another short ride before Sunday though.

You've all been working hard. Why not take the day off and have a delicious burrito?

Mmm, burritos. Chipotle is my very favorite post-long-ride meal. Too bad it's so far across town I can't usually get there before starving to death.

I finally got into the spreadsheet and added my time so far. I'm not sure if my goals are correct, I think I will end up doing more then I said, but with traveling I'm hesitant to change them. For now I'll just keep my fingers crossed that tonight's ride doesn't rain out

Mmmm burrito! Did a bike ride today and was going to swim tomorrow (need an easy day). But just got asked to sub for a cycling class at 5 am... so I'm off to a good start for my goals.

Nice job peeps and thank God we've got rather computer savvy folks too!

I just watched some of the Tour de France. Wow! My thighs started to ache just watching them hammer up that hill... and hammer some more..... and go and go and go... and at speeds of up to 34 mph... wow!

Appx 2200 miles total...

so I think we've got it pretty easy here ! GOOOOO ORANGE!!!

My bike isn't working right (and making rattling noises) so not much bike riding for me this week. I will try and go to the bike shop this weekend to get it fixed though. So, hopefully more bike riding next week!

I havn't watched the TDF yet this year. Is Lance Armstrong still in it?

Get your bike fixed and get riding!

No, Lance has been out of it for a few years. George Hincapie is probably the best American riding this year.

No, not this year but would love it if he came back to win it again when he turns 40!

Impressive! I am hoping to get in an hour tonight and a somewhat longer ride on Sunday, although I also need to do a practice ride on my race course for next week which has a 15%(!) grade. I may die. or walk.
