Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Swim leg questions: I'm guessing my 1st 100 will be 15+ seconds faster than my 2nd.....and more than that faster than my 3rd. I need to send the RD an accurate per/100 time. Do I just avg them? I'm guessing I'm the person everyone fears will clog things up. Sorry. jeff |

I put 1:30/100 but could do 1:20-1:25/100 and in a sprint would come out near 1:00-1:05/100. Obviously those are very different but what to pick? WHat is the norm? What are you supposed to pick? Sorry, this isn't answering your question...:-) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() What is your average pace for a 300 yard time trial. Variation between the laps would hopefully be absorbed by the 15 seconds cushion and occassional breaks. Of course sense we all suck at seeding ourselves it only makes so much difference. |

I am assuming the swim is not too hilly though :-) Doug can tell you better as he has ridden it a ton. I rode it once, pretty flat. A few inclines, but you have to really look for them ![]() Didn't do the swim, but the pool looks pretty flat too ![]() |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Louis: The course is four 3 mile laps. It is fairly flat. There a a number of traffic circles, only one of which presents any issues. That circle is more oblong and you enter on one short side and leave on the opposite short side upon which you enter the best "down hill" section of the course. I regularly hit in the 30's on the stretch. The one slight uphill is in a narrow section between to circles. It does not seem to steep but I feel it every time. The run is mostly on the sme road we bike (60%). Hills are minimal. There is a wicked climb at about the 200 yds. mark of the swim! ;-) Doug |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I can't imagine the run out in my head.....without imagining mixed traffic (people trying to get to the LH side of the road - crossing bike traffic. I'm sure it's not an issue, but it looks weird on paper! Also...I'm assuming (in case I get to go down and ride it) you turn right on the bike course - everywhere (meaning, coming out of T1) and at all the traffic circles. |

I like downhills that get you to 30mph. Don't like the corresponding uphills as much ;-) |

The run does not interfer with the ride much, or it didn't for me. You make aright out of transition on the bike and a left on the run. The run goes past the Bell tower and then turns onto the same road as the bike up to the first traffic circle. You go around that circle and come back. Then you turn onto some roads not on the bike course until you emerge on the main road and turn again on the road going by the Bell tower. (I know you cannot see some of this on the map). Doug |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I mapped it here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=19037 I get that same feeling as Doug about that one climb (on each lap), it doesn't seem that steep, but it always takes it out of me. The run is always hot and hard to me. I don't plan on hitting my run goal for the year here. I'll aim for the bike goal, but I'll have to do some good bike handling and somehow hold an okay speed on that climb. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well....Kinda last minute. But, my schedule just free'd up for tomorrow. Doug? Anyone wanna ride it...or can ride it, tomorrow? I may have to just run down there in the AM (gonna be close, anyways). Thanks for all the info guys. Looking forward to my 1st tri, there. |

Its a little complicated for me to head up there- I don't have a replacement for my tri bike yet (I snapped the frame) and my roadie doesn't really fit in my car. And we have swim team practice for my son every...single...day...until...eternity (or so it seems) :-) |

It looks nice- that climb seems to be about 70ft vertical which is typical for around these parts...not steep but not insignificant. Looking forward to the race- anything shorter than that White Lake heatfest will be a good change of pace! Just gotta get used to pushing hard again :-) And I hope I can get a new tri bike before the race! Don't really want to do it on my old roadie! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() FYI: I rode the bike route this AM. There is a new road patch in the traffic circle at Befordtown Dr. and Falls River Rd. Right at the inside curb they have done a patach. This would be in the optimium line going around the circle. This was the most technical of the circles I was talking about. Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I rode a few laps yesterday on the bike course with my mountain bike and compared to my last few races I would have to consider this course flat because it lacks those huge uphills that do me in. I also think that with three mile loops I'll see more bikes on the course and this should help me ride harder/faster. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Note to all the people who pass/lap me on the bike course: I just got my very first tri bike, yesterday. YES...IT DOES look very fast. It's owner is not currently qualified to operate it at high speeds. DO NOT succumb to a false sense of accomplishment as you zoom by. The driver is also old. |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just signed up to BT, and I'm signed up for the race on Saturday. I'll be packhorsing it on a MTB, so look for me on the right hand side of the road with the flashers on when going up the hills. I have been over to ride the race course a few times. It's not bad but there are some long, steady uphills that get the legs burning - especially on the section where you enter the non-neighborhood section on Dunn. This will be my first Tri... looking forward to it! |
