Subject: RE: How do you transport your bike?I bought a Toyota Rav4 specifically so I could transport the bike in the back. Then I can bring it to work, for instance, and know it's locked up and protected. I feel very uneasy about the safety of locking my bike to a removeable bike rack on the car. Normally I bungee it to the side, standing up, although will lay it down and cover it with a black sheet if I'mleaving it for extended periods of time. I can fit my bike and race gear, as well as another passenger and their bike and race gear, comfortably. I can almost get my road bike in without removing the wheel. Unfortunately the aerobars on the tribike get in the way of that, which is too bad since that bike is XS. I am sure I could fit about 4 bikes in the back of the Rav 4 - problem is what to do with the passengers since the seats are down I noticed at my tri club group ride that nearly everyone drove an SUV, yet I was only one of few who transported the bike inside. It doesn't make sense to me... |
