Seeing as many fireworks shows as I can.  Floating and boozing the Truckee.  Biking to Chambers for punch.

There is booty inside that metal door.

Unfortunately you're the booty.

chadtower - 2008-06-30 11:40 AM I have a wife and kids. Realistically that means the best I can possibly hope for is to sit with her parents while they get trashed and talk crap about me because I'm staying sober in order to safely drive my wife and kids home. That's how every 4th is since I got married.

How very responsible of you.  Kuddos.

I am at a loss for what to do on the 4th.  I usually have a boat load of people over to swim and partake in backyard championships.  Later we would view the awesome display of illegal fireworks shot off by our back yard neighbors.  HOWEVER, they seemed to have vanished.  The put a for sale sign up and now three weeks later they have sold and moved out.  Oh what to do, what to do!!!!

Argh!

It gets old competing on holidays when you you have to "behave" all 3-day weekend, and get up at dawn on race morning... Memorial Day I had a tri - so Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday - no "alkiehol."  Same with this weekend July 4th - off on Friday and must not partake - dont' want to get dehydrated... Saturday behave and up at 5AM Sunday.  Oh well, the price we pay to compete.

Sunday afternoon I can finally kick back with several.

why not just have someone drop you off at mile 60 and pick you up at mile 70?

i plan on watching barry bostwick sing "76 trombones" on PBS. scratch that. i just checked, and he's not hosting this year. oh well. i guess i'll just celebrate the 4th the old fashioned way by working to overthrow our ruling government. or maybe just a bike ride.

5k walk on the 4th w/ the future Mrs.  Then, I gotta go in and help out at the office for about two hours.  Basically while a bunch of people are stuck to a computer while our bank runs some mega software upgrade, I'll be serving them lunch.  Probably a cookout that night with some friends, then it's a pontoon boat on the lake on Saturday.

Early a.m. run or ride, followed by a big neighborhood popsicle parade and cookout.
Then maybe the pool with hubby, kids, and a bunch of family that will be in town for my dad's 70th bday. Then grilling out at my folks and watching fireworks from their front yard (they live near the city park). Guess I'd better make that a.m. workout a substantial one, since the rest of the day revolves around food and drink. Should be a great day--I'm looking forward to it!

I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be spending most of the long weekend on the bathroom renovation with a couple of firework shows in between.  It shall be so much fun, I want to hurt literally hurt myself!

Spending the weekend in a friend's cabin on the south side of Lake Tahoe.  I expect there will be much booze, grilling, sleeping, some hiking, and lots of fun.  I hope there are no actual fireworks, other than the bedroom kind.  We've had enough forest fires.

Mid afternoon run or bike or both. Set off some foreworks and then off to work at midnight.

Run and strength training at the fitness center in the morning.

Was going to go watch fireworks over Lake Aberdeen in the evening with a friend but I found out this afternoon that they will be having Christian and country music bands. YAK! No thank you. Need to find other plans.

My nephews are going to camp for a week on Saturday, so maybe I'll stay home and do stuff with them instead. I know they've been building their 4th of July things-that-go-boom stash to celebrate. Maybe we'll grill and have beer.

Thursday: Long ride, since I have the day off and almost no one else in NYC does.
Friday: BBQ on my buddy's roof, watching fireworks, hopefully a run in the afternoon
Saturday: Gigantic BBQ+ softball game in New Haven. Soft shell crabs, raw bar, ribs, beer, etc.
Sunday: 'Nother long ride.
