Champion 8903![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Things I miss about being in a relationshipWell I don't miss anything since I'm in a relationship that couldn't be any better. Maybe it will suffice just to list the good things that I'd be missing if I hadn't found "Mrs. Wonderful." I could list tons of stuff, but I'll only put down the ones that absolutely floor me each time I think about them. 1. Having someone appreciate how hard I've been working when it's 15 below zero and I'm snowblowing the driveway for 3 hours, frozen to the bone. And I know she knows how rough a job it is...because, without fail, the first thing I smell when I come in is fresh baked oatmeal butterscotch cookies. They just taste better when I know she made them and thought about me at the same time. 2. During an uproariously funny movie, knowing all I have to do is give her "The Look" and she bursts out in uncontrollable laughter, her eyes close to a pair of tiny slits, and the tears just start flowing like a river. And when she barely has it all under control, another shot of "The Look" starts it all over again. I do it to her mercilessly just to see those eyes! 3. After 32 years she's gone from 5 lbs overweight, to 10 lbs, to 30 lbs, to....it doesn't matter. She battles her disability that has made her less mobile than 99% of the population. It hasn't changed her image in my mind. She doesn't have to get undressed in the dark. She's as beautiful as the day I first met her. You can keep your Hooters girls and Playboy centerfolds. They don't knock my socks off like she still does. 4. Having everyone that meets her tell me "I can't believe your wife is 52 years old. She looks 15 years younger. I'd kill for skin like that!" 5. Having someone meet me at the finish of an Ironman, and seeing the look in her eyes and realizing she's more excited than I am. That she wants to stand in front of those 10,000 people and scream "Forget about it! I got the #1 Triathlete in the world right here...and he's all mine!" |

I really miss HUGS, and being touched in general - You don't realize how little you get touched when you are not with someone. When you are with someone there is touching, and human touch is comforting. I am decidedly single though right now, with two jobs, being a full time student trying to graduate in May, and Tri Training it's just easier right now. I don't miss these things anymore because I'm IN a relationship but reading the lists makes me smile. Here's one I didn't mention 2+ yrs ago: Receiving flowers! I love receiving flowers and I love having flowers in the house.

Extreme Veteran 462![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Auckland, NZ | Subject: RE: Things I miss about being in a relationshipI decided about 3 months ago that I didn't want to be in this relationship, so told him that we were going to end it, and took off to a friend's place for the weekend. I'm the arch blabbermouth, and when I got to my friend's place and wept all weekend and was hideously quiet, we all realised that something was seriously wrong! What I was missing, right from the time I said I was bailing, was his 3000 different smiles, and the heart-skippy feeling I get when he puts his hand on me. I missed it so much, I came home and we sorted out the issues, which were largely me being a drama queen, and got on with our relationship. I don't ever want to have to miss those things again. |

Yes, they've actually gotten better. We've been married over 34 years, she's now nearly 55 but looks 39 and she's still the hottest thing around. I think I'll go get me some.

I am in a relationship that at this moment is pretty darn near perfect. What I miss most when I am traveling is falling asleep together and waking up together, and the half lucid conversations around those times.  Inevitably someone means to say "I love you," but it comes out "baolacho" |
