I am over 200 so far, but have a question on the bike points and a question as when to post our numbers.

1) Bike calculation on Morey's spreadsheet doesn't include the point multiplier for the bike, if the temp is below 50, but above 35.  So, for the weekend, I had a 95' ride in 6mph wind, which the spreadsheet calculates as 1X95 = 95.  However, I think it should be (as TriDDS calculates above) = 1 for bike, 1 for wind X 95 = 190.  Which is correct?

2) When do we post for these first 10 days?  And how?

Yea, we need a ruling on the bike thing for schmize and anyone else using the calculator.  I made the calculator last season based on last season's rules.  The only change I made was to add the swimming multiplier which was not in effect last year.

The calculator does not add the bike factor until the temp goes below 36, which (without looking it up) must have been how it was last year.  TriDDS in his description to open this thread and calculating his points is allowing for the bike multiplier up to 49 degrees.

My humble opinion is the way the calculator works is best.  The idea of the contest originally was to target serious suckage weather and make us all HOPE for complete sucky conditions.   I've PM'd jszat for the official ruling.

And, based on last year TOTAL POINTS FOR THE WEEK were posted in a thread at the end of each week, titled as such, and interim threads like we've got going now were occasionally started to brag about how tough we all are.

So, fwiw, I'd recommend you brag away in this thread, but don't consider it REPORTED until arount 11/10 when you or someone can start a thread and jszat can look in there and easily record everyone's total points.

I can live with using the calculator. Then, we know everyone's doing it the same. So, if'n we're voting. That's my vote - use the calculator!

okay...Maggy Ruth was trying to explain to me that it has to be below 50 degrees for the wind to count....bummer!

Wind alone doesn't count as crappy weather?

If she is right, my points for this week are zero.

hoping for winter to arrive any day.

jszat has ruled and any biking below 50 gets the bike multiplier.

The spreadsheet did not reflect that, so I've attached a new one for everyone to use, if they so choose.  It is not required.

Dang, I thought for sure I'd beat out you southern WI peeps... my thermometer at home is higher than what I see on line and I'm going with overall wind vs. gusts (gusts are up to 45 mph!)

It's not us Southern peeps - it's those lake effect peeps. We haven't been getting nearly the craptastic weather that they have.

I finally got outside in the suckitude yesterday and I must say the weather was absolutely donktastic. I even saw some flurries for a while so I'll call that "light precip".

34 mins run at 38F and 25+ mph winds and light precip = 170 points. EEEEEAAAAAAAWWWWW!

Cheers!

Yeah, true. But its highly unlikely I'll 'win' this gig anyhow with folks freakin' swimming in sub40 degree weather!!!!!!!

Winter is bound to roar in here any day now... How 'bout a nice little blizzard

63 X 4 =252 points for cold

total 283.5 points (is that right?)

yipee!

Yiiiaaiii!!  Match...you got more points in ONE DAY than I have in a week...

Fri, run, 22 min, 36 degrees, 5 mph winds = 0 points
Sat, run, 67 min, 27 degrees, 0 mph wind = 67 points
Sat, bike, 40 min, 43 degrees, 8 mph winds = 80 points

147 pts total...eerrhh...

I just don't have suckage factor like the Match......sigh...

Well, I have 3 runs and one bike in the mild crap (its only going to get worse).  I am at 509.5 according to the Morey spreadsheet.

Yes, I know, we will post it all on the 10th.  Should be fun.  Of course, I haven't seen any info. from the person from Alaska and/or Psuedo yet, but they love to put up the points....

Well my first run in Nov.  I barely get points, thanks only to the wind.  Temps here are way high compared to you WI peps.  53 minute run, in 44 degree temps, windage at 6.3 MPH, for a total of 53 points.

I know there is no way I will get many points, but still this will get me out when otherwise I might stay inside.

Well I've biked every day to and from work and I've been running twice, but I only have a measly 250.5 points. That's so unfair. I need some sort of special 'UK Donkey Multiplier' or something. Booo Hoooo.

Finally! Some good weather for craptastic points! 87 minutes @ 23 degrees (no wind) = 261 points.

So, I have another question, though. It was 23 when I left. Being out there for 87 minutes means it was probably warmer when I got back. I've been back about an hour and it's 31 now. (I didn't check when I first got back.) Do we go with "temp at leaving" or "temp at returning" or "average of both" or what?
