Ummm...another newbie question (or two).  Are we supposed to post our weekly progress here?  I saw another team doing it, that's why I am asking.  Or are we just going to tally up at the end of the month?  Also, do we check in here occasionally with each other to do some rah-rah stuff or do we just click on the "Inspire Me" in the training logs?

By the way, I really really appreciate the notes!  I'm heading for my first tri in two weeks and not getting much support in "real life" so the virtual pats on the back (and/or kicks in the butt) are keeping me going forward.  Thanks HossRodders!

I have to report weekly numbers on Mondays, so if you ust keep your logs up to date I'll use the numbers posted there. Of course, if you'r like to post your progress here for everyone to see that's great also.

And you can inspire any way you want...here, by PM of using the "inspire me" button.

Hey Team! I'm back after a couple of days of being sick. We made it through the first week in 3rd place...not too bad, but we can do better!

Yea, yea, Captain.  I missed ALL of my goals last week so I had a little something to do with our 3rd place finish this week.  But it's not my fault, honest!  I was on target until my husband decided to go out and break his leg - shame on him for interfering with my training!  ; )

Anyway, I am back in the game - working hard and I am bound and determined to meet my goals this week!

GO TEAM HOSS/ROD!

Signed, The Slacker

3rd place?!  Come on people!  We CAN do better than that!  Don't make me break out the smack talk in our OWN thread!

To help get this party rocking:

  • Wed - 20 mile bike/4 mile run brick
  • Thu - 1 mile swim & 5 mile run
  • Fri - 5 mile run
  • Sat - 25 mile bike
  • Sun - 11 mile run

That's in addition to my normal biking commute (15 miles).  So, my question to you slackers: what are YOU going to do?

"There's no 'I' in team."  "Yeah, there ain't no 'WE' either."

This week is a swim-focused week for me (next week is run-focused).  Here are my plans for the week:

  • Swim = 12,700 yards
  • Bike = 20 miles
  • Run = 6 miles

If I all of a sudden stop posting and the blog goes blank, you'll know where to find me...at the bottom of the pool.

Alright HossRodders - I bested my own goal for today: 20 mile bike/5 mile run brick.  I'm still planning that swim tomorrow, and then a nice relaxing run afterwards.  I'll be checking on you tomorrow, I don't want to see so many empty logs!

How the hell did *I* become the Team Ass-kicker?

This week for me is a recovery week with 3 rest days (okay didn't rest drove with the 5 kids home):

Schedule:
Friday 45' run
Saturday 60' ride
Sunday Rest or swim 20'

My daughters are doing their first Tri on Saturday...Emily who is 10 will be doing 200/3 mi/1mile and Shasha who is 9 will be doing 100 yds/1.5 mile/.5 mile. We did the bike/run distance with them tonight. Emily ran while I biked...my bike speed went as high as 10 mph running...wow that would be a 6 minute/mile...but mostly it was around 8 mph. See why I had to bike while she ran?

Next week doesn't have a lot of workouts since it is the week leading up to my A race. Last week of the month is a big volume week.

So it looks like Whizzer and Kathy's kids are racing this weekend  - not each other -    Kathy and I both have races next weekend.  What's everyone else up to?  Just want to remember to cheer everyone on with their races along with their training!

On a related note, the race next weekend for me (8/21) is my first and I am starting to get a bit nervous.  I won't back out - NO WAY! - but I may need a little encouragement and tips when it gets closer.  Thanks in advance for the support!

OK, so I botched one of my swim workouts last week.  Still, 117 miles on the bike, and 46 miles on the run (so far this month) are nothing to sneeze at.  Swimming tonight and Wed - looking to squeeze in 2000-2500 yards per, just to get back to where I planned to be.

Have a great training week HossRodders!

Here's what I just submitted for week 2. Your totals are in whatever units your goals were in. Let me know about any corrections. Oh...and I guess it looks like we have some work to do in the next two weeks. Not very many numbers above 50%...can we do better???

I'm sick with a cold, and staying home from work today trying to kick this thing.    I think I'll take it slow when I feel better, just so I don't stress my body too much and relapse.

Where is everyone at right now? I am a little slim on my bike miles, but I have a plan to make my goal by the end of the month. Swim and run goals will also be reached by the end of the month without any problems.

I've barely had time to fill in my calendar log, much less track where I am but I think it's going to be close for me this month.

The biking is what is killing me.  There is no where to bike around here.  I have a 6 mile loop but the neighbors are starting to give me funny looks as I pass by them multiple times and it is getting boring.  I really need to get a road bike and join one of the groups here.  They want nothing to do with me and my little moutain bike.  Anyway, doing good on the swim and ok on the run.

Just have to get this first race under my belt and then I can step up my training!  I didn't want to overdo it before the race.

Looks to me like everyone is doing pretty good - aren't we in 3rd place?  We can work hard the last week and half and finish strong!!!

If I hadn't got sick today, I'd have killed the bike miles.  It doesn't look good for tomorrow's run, either.  However, since my boss is 'forcing' me to take some time off, I shall have plenty of time near the end of the month to catch up on any short goals...
