I haven't gone off a starting block in about 20 years, and haven't timed a 50 yd or 100 yd for the sake of going all out since around the same time. Based on my set times in recent months, I'd have to guess that I would be hard pressed to break 30 sec for a 50 and 1:10 for a 100 in a 25 yd pool. That's a far cry from back in the day when my 50 was in the mid-20's, and 100 in the upper 50's. In high school a good friend of mine was swimming sub-50 sec 100's and went to nationals for the YMCA, and a girl from my school made it to the Olympic trials. It's amazing to swim with someone that fast. It's just crazy to see up close! |
