I am glad I am not the only one that neglects core work outs! It's definitely an area that needs improvement on my part!

Got in a great bit of training this past weekend, 2500 m swim and an hour of intense high power intervals on Saturday and a 12 mile run yesterday.

8 weeks and it will be done!

70 mile bike ride this weekend. Started off some what dehydrated (I'm a dummy ) and could never really catch up. Made my self complete what i started out to do. Not sure if this helped or hindered my training. Living and learning.

Nice work.

I was on a mini vacation but managed to fit in a 10k race in Portland with an official time of 40:49 which was good enough for 8th overall and a 1st in my age group. Course was a bit long, 6.32 miles based on a number of people's GPS, and my own, I like the 6:28 mile pace that gives me :D

6 weeks to go!

Thanks.

Only thing I see is the schedule of events, not an actual athlete guide.

Had a really humbling ride today, first real ride outside, took me 2:30 to cover 41 miles with just over 2500' of elevation gain. Wind probably didn't help either but that was one of the toughest rides I have had in a long time. Hoping tomorrow's 12 mile run goes better.
5 weeks left!

We've had some brutal winds around here as well. But, it's the last few weeks of crunch time!

Ive seen your logs and i think both of you will do great! I don't log workouts here, but may start in the near future. Coming off a recovery week and ready for the next 3 week build, then a two week taper. I've done one 90 mile ride and 3 more long ones to go. I'm follow ing a plan, but in your opinion, how far is good? I'm looking only to finish the full.

I've had two 100 mile rides in my plan so far but I missed the first one. I have two more century rides to go, one this week and again next week (I think). The long day looks something like 3-5K yard swim, 100-110 mile bike (6-7 hour), then a 30 minute EASY run. My day off is the day before and have a real easy "recovery" run or ride the next day. I'm no expert on plans or training by any means, this is only my second full. But this is the second time I've used the same BT plan though.

Not saying this is ideal but but for what it's worth, I finished IM Couer d'Alene on 1 100 mile ride, everything else was shorter, and the CdA course is tougher than Ft Worth, at least based on the elevation profile. CdA elevation gain: 7051 ft vs Ft Worth: 3141 ft, I am doing the CdA 70.3 a month after Ft Worth and it has more elevation gain than the full at Ft Worth.

Thanks guys for the replies. I guess its probably more relevant of what the accumalitive training and history is/was, but was just curious. Speaking of elevation, i live in a very flat area. I have no real idea of what 3k of elevation is. ?

I dropped from the 140.6 to the 70.3 last week. My training was on target for the most part but I just couldn't keep my head in it. I was tired and burned out. But I'm looking forward to the 70.3 with a new spark of excitement. And the weather around north Texas continues to be insane!

Plodding along here. Hitting my workouts, but mentally tired. Looking more like a wetsuit legal swim, but possibly very windy! Best of luck!

That's a tough place to be but sounds like you have made a good choice to switch, you should be well prepared for a 70.3!

Just think, taper soon, which might have it's own issues mentally? Wetsuit legal would be nice, don't need it but, I will take it if it's available. Yuck to the wind, here's hoping for not a lot of that unless it's a tail wind both directions I haven't had one outside ride that didn't have at least 10 mph winds and a couple that were 15 mph + so I will deal with it, might actually feel good in the heat.

15 and 16 hour weeks over the past 2, and somewhere near that this week, then taper. I'm ready (for the taper). Anyone have any insight on how the logistics are playing out for the organizers? Not much info on their FB page. Any had a chance to ride any of the course? I haven't and won't be ableto. Happy tratraining all!

Nice work, I am ready for taper as well, I stuck a random 12k (7.46 mile) race in this weekend, hoping to knock out a sub 49 minute race, that will give me 2 weeks to taper/recover.

Kill it Smith! I know I've brought up the elevation before and i know you are doing the 70.3, but, if you get a chance to look at the elevation profile for the full, please give me your thoughts. I come from a pancake flat area and am curious about how you perceive it. Are the 'hills' like an average over pass ? More? Less? I have been doing some over gearing work, but have never ridden any real hills. Thanks!

Thanks, it should be fun and if I don't make it I will be ok with it, it's not my A race, just a real fun local race (Bloomsday) that 50,000+ people do each year.

As far as the elevation, this is tough, I see the final course information says 2965 ft elevation gain for the 112 miles. What I can't tell is what some of those hills are like from the posted elevation chart, a couple look short and steep maybe 200-300' of climbing max? I see they did the map with mapmyrun but when I search for it I can't find it which would be nice because you can see the grade of the hills, give me a bit and I will see about recreating the course myself.

Mostly thought, it looks like what I would call rollers, short climbs I don't see anything that would be a prolonged climb like what we have here locally at the Couer d'Alene IM course, one hill is 6 percent grade or worse for 2 miles, it's not the only long hill, and you have to do it twice, it's a serious drainer. I just don't see anything like that to be worried about even for someone coming from a flat area, just don't hold it against me if I am 100% wrong and the hills seem tough to you ok?

For whatever it's worth you can compare the IM CDA course http://www.ironman.com/~/media/f52df46fd13f41aabd68c35a8a50879a/iro...

Here you go, it's not exact but really close. You can pull it up full screen then pick elevation on the right then at the bottom click Show elevation with grades, nothing over 2%, should be fast, makes me with I signed up for the full, almost.

Did one for the half as well.
