wurkit_gurl - 2008-02-20 2:29 PM I haven't been complimented much lately; only thing as of late was some random guy in the food court at the mall on V-Day who said he liked the boots I was wearing.

What about the BT girls thread?

No doubt - don't the boys on BT count!?!?!?!

I can't think of anything - I don't think guys get as many - at least I don't.  The wife is always sweet though.

My old college roommate called me last month and told me that she read my Christmas letter and that I inspired her and her husband to start training for a half marathon. When I roomed with her, I was a terrible runner and was constantly having to parade that fact when we went on formation runs (the joys of a military school). Even without that, being told that I've inspired anyone to do anything is pretty darn cool!

Oohh! I've got one. The other night my wife told me I had the body of an underwear model. With my continued hang ups about what's left of my spare tire, that was a really nice thing to hear. (And she said it after a visual and, um.... physical inspection).

I'm allowed, I'm just not gonna say who yet. I'm scheduled for May, IF I decide to go. Still up in the air about it. May be a conflict with current sponsors.

My cardiologist told me I had a healthy heart, in fact he used the term "youthful".

Of course my doctor reminded me that the rest of my organs resembled a train wreck but hey, I'll take the heart news as a compliment.

I can't imagine where you would get that idea...

My massage therapist (who is also a training partner) commented a few weeks ago about the development in my calves...and she is SOOOOOO professional that any comment like that, in that....ah....setting, ......was VERY complimentary.

Thanks...Doc

my friend recently joined a running club and another friend is considering doing a half marathon, they both say I have inspired them which makes me feel so good that other people want to try to live a healthier life style and take pleasure from being healthy etc

Also I saw the lady who gives me a sports massage about once every three months and she mentioned that my shoulders and arms are looking really toned and defined probably from the swimming so that wads nice.

Welshy, do you collect poetry about your eyes?  I still say sea foam.

My mom told me the other day that I am my Dad's biggest achievement/greatest joy and pride, and that when I call him at the office "to talk" I make his whole stressful world go away for a bit. My dad has worked so hard for me, has defended me to the end even when I was giving my mom, teachers, etc  fits, and was my number 1 support when I came out. He treats Kathryn like his 2nd daughter and has done 100% of his fathering responsibilities at 100%. To make him proud is my life's mission.  I guess it's not a compliment like all of the above, but it made me feel good to know I haven;t squandered the gifts he has given me.

Of course, 3 weeks ago I was ready to murder him, but that's why we are such a good pair. We are impossible!

I think this is one of the nicest compliments I've seen. In fact, I just got all teary reading this. Possum, how wonderful that you have a father who is so proud and loving. And a mom who makes sure that you know you are his light. I had a wonderful father too, and I miss him. reading your post though made me remember some wonderful memories of him, so thank you for that!!!

I heard my son say "Mom's a pretty good cook" the other day.  Years ago, I used to be the queen of Chef Boyardee, so this is a major compliment.

He's only 4 though, and doesn't have that much to compare it to - does it still count?

If it doesn't, I have one more:  an elderly woman at the fitness club told me that she loved the color of my swim cap.

Hey, I'll take what I can get......
