OK, I'm in too.

So how are we keeping track of all our meals? In our training logs?

Guess it's time to cut out the 3pm Diet Coke to stay awake.
I'll have to analyis my intake. I have pretty much cut out most crap.

I'll do it.  Was having lots of success with this recently, and then I sort of lost the motivation once my training hours started to creep up.  It's kind of shocking how much food has refined sugar (of the -ose variety in the ingredient lists)

To the CLIF bar eater - you could sub Larabars and be ok.

My take is that its up to you whether you decide something's processed or not. Now, there are absolutes but I can tell you that I don't consider my Nature's Oven 100% Whole Wheat bread to be processed food. The stupid Nabisco 100 Calorie Snack Packs? Absolutely. Stuff sweetened with high fructose corn syrup? Yes! So, police yourself but if you really need a ruling, post it here and the Gods of CrapCutting will either plant kisses on your cherubic cheeks or rain blows upon your cheating head.

My focus for the next 37 days, 16 hours and 5 minutes until the start of Grandma's Marathon will be to cut out the sweets and fried foods but also avoid the processed junk, too. Good thing is that my two biggest weaknesses are sweets (ICE CREAM!!!) and fried stuff (WINGS!!!).

Good luck everybody!

Tom

Clif bars should be ok since they are really just a ball of brown rice syrup and other organic crap.  They are still "processed" but not like canned ravioli or Prego pasta sauce.

Kidding aside though, this is a good challenge for me, I've a bad habit of riding processed toddler-food coat-tails.

Tomato Pie is Pizza without the cheese. Is that just a Philadelphia thing ?

Ohhh boy.. this is tough. I dont eat fried foods at all, I dont do simple sugars, except my Infinit during the weekend training, and I dont do much processed, so it seemed easy to jump in and just clean it up a little.

EXCEPT I cant give up my organic poptarts, or cardboard as Trixie calls them, and pizza! All i crave all week is pizza And its about the only thing that has kept me satisfied enough on these 17-20 hour training weeks. Sooooooo.. hmmm. I did have a organic, whole wheat dough pizza last night. Id say thats close.

I think it was good to assess everything else yesterday though and see that Ive managed to clean it up pretty well in the last year.

I have to officially count this as my cheat day for the week. My lunch was two slices of pizza a roll and a salad. I have leftovers if anybody wants them. Two days in and I am going to have one good day and one bad day. I will improve on those percentages .

Sweet, nice simple challenge premise that's SO HARD to follow...  Or maybe that's just b/c I suck and love fried food and sweets!  Too bad I bought a big- canister of jelly bellys at Costco the other day to put on my desk "for other people" to eat.  Haha...uhhh.  I've been trying to cut out the crap too, but lately, it's hard for me to eat much at one time, so I'm just happy to get calories in--but I will modify this for the prego woman, and try to cut out unneccessary crap.  (Like desserts and sugars and chosing carbs over veggies first--since I have a limited stomach capacity, I need to focus on getting good nutrition in there FIRST and then if there's any room left over, allowing a treat now and again.)

So, I'm in.  Kinda.

Natural peanut butter, no. Its basically peanuts and salt. Jif and the like, are using fake sugar and lots of it

I think I did OK today. I only ate one tiny dove dark chocolate rasberry caramel...what i really wanted was the fudge covered grahams, but they all survived.  This will be easier when I can get to the store to replenish supplies.

I'm amazed at how much the body is CRAVING sugar though. I drank a lot of Lite Chocolate Silk today though, trying to manage that craving.

This is a week without coffee too---think sugar is hard? Try stopping the caffeine cold turkey. I think I have a headache.

p.s. what fun is training unless one can eat whatever he/she wants?

p.p.s. that's a silly question though, 'cause I know that I feel better and train better when I eat right.
