Michele is bringing some sort of dessert.  We'll also bring drinks, etc.  I'll be there on Saturday to drop off my bike.  I'll swing by and help set up.  I assume the tailgate area is in the park?

Yeah!  Michelle is bringing dessert!  Little bites of happiness!

All of this sounds great! I have to remember to hit the store to get some sides and veggie burgers for us (ME?) non meat eaters.

I was worried about eating while being out there to spectate. Happy to know I won't starve.

Another non-meat eater here. I can split the cost of veggie burgers with you if you're going to be picking them up anyway, just let me know.

I'll also throw some money in the main pot as my hubbie will be there too and he'll probably want some real meat

I'll bring at least 4 of them and maybe 8 if I buy two boxes. I'll probably pick up Morning Star Farms black bean burgers and maybe their grillers. I don't care for Boca.

Whatever money you would have given to me... give to the guy with the meat. He needs it more than I do.

I am vegetarian too and will possibly be hanging out with you all!
I will bring some other munchies as well. And beer.

Does this tent have a sign or anything? Or do I just walk around and ask if the people inside are BTers?

Also - where will it be? I need help!

I believe we will have a sign. Or a the very least some chalk written on the ground by our spot.

If you read the first page I think they talk about where it will be setup. It will be transition/around there. So we will be IN the park area itself. Not by the Expo.

Karen is correct, and Marci is bringing a banner as well.  We will have a green Ford 150 and a blue tent if that helps.  I have not heard back from Ainsley about exact location but we are inside the park somewhere near the run course and transition.

Ok, I have 2 x 10lb briskets, 5 racks of ribs, 2 x 6.5lb bags of chicken breasts and BBQ sauce and my big grill.  If anyone wants to bring stuff to grill, please bring it along.  Also, I will take cash donations up to the amount that we spent, then I am going to donate the rest on behalf of BT to the folks in Galveston.  I would like to work that out through Keith and the triathlon community so that it goes directly to those in need.  If you have spectators, friends, family, etc that don't know what to do while you are racing, send them to the BT tent.  There are so many threads going regarding Longhorn that I am having a hard time letting everyone know about the team tent.

We are really looking forward to the event.  The weather in Austin is awesome right now!

24lbs of brisket and 5 racks of ribs marinated yesterday and overnight.  Early this morning the grill was fired-up and ready to accept all that meat for the next 10-12 hours.  Everything is coming along nicely.  Everyone have a safe trip and see you on Saturday!

Questions and answers about location and such:

1.  Can we drive by the park race morning and drop-off a person at the gate with a cooler and then park that car at the Expo center?  No vehicles will be allowed at (or near) the park on race morning.  We will have shuttles available from the Expo Center.

2.  We will have a truck, grill and a tent (2 spaces) to leave overnight.  If spaces are designated, can we be near the run course (but away from the Bees)? All tailgaters are positioned along the run course.  It’s going to be great.

3.  You are more than welcome to come by and have some BBQ on Sunday  Thanks so much. Looking forward to meeting y’all.

Do NOT, repeat, NOT trust Gary with your beer.  He's not sanctioned, licensed, bonded, or otherwise recognized by anyone you'd even remotely trust.  The resume is a lie.  As is the shiny badge and spiffy looking "Official Race Beer Staff" shirt.  The probability of getting your beer back "untaxed" are probably statistically insignificant.

Thanks everyone for making the 1st Annual BT Tailgating Team tent at Longhorn a big success.  We have notes on things to improve on and things we don't need for next year. If you have any ideas for next year, please get them to us as soon as possible so we can make a list (before we forget).  Pictures are posted HERE .

If you didn't get a chance to donate at the site I have a paypal account My email address is [email protected]  If you do not have Paypal and want to mail a check my address is : Michael Harris, 1726 Fort Grant Dr, Round Rock, TX 78665.  PM if you have any questions.

We collected about $150 and have some food leftovers but no beer. We also have a blue asics bag with a Castroville State Bank and Medina Valley koozies and assorted other items in it if you lost one.

Mike-

Thanks again for all you guys did.  The asics junk was mine. Keep it..Toss it whatever, as well as the pasta salad container.  It's all disposable.  I remembered it on the way home. Nothing I can't live without, certainly not worth postage.

Hope you enjoyed the oreo balls.

As for everyone that voted on the poll for who was going to show and what to eat. I'd encourage everyone to contribute even if you weren't able to show.  Mike and Karri went out of the way for us all and based their supplies on our information. I'd hate to see tailgates come to a screetching halt because they got stuck with a $150 bill.

Hope everyone had as good a time as I did.

Sorry I wasn't able to make it over there man. After finishing I hit the med tent and had no gas left in the tank to walk over to the booth. It looked like you guys were having a good time though, that's for sure.

Exactly!

If you voted and did not show up... please do the right thing and pay up! I too would hate to know that they might get stuck with paying for $150 they thought people would pay for.

I pitched in money while I was there, and didn't even eat meat (vegetarian- and I brought the veggie burgers and buns for people).

If I can pay up, so can other people.
