I should have done the aquabike last year. My leg was pretty bad but I decided to be stupid and do the run anyway, which ended up to be a walk   I'm looking forward to making another go at it.

I just signed up as a relay team on Monday. I think there were less than 200 spots left. It might be down to 100 now.

They do fill up fast. You need to get on it because it is also the height of the season for tourism. We stayed at the laz-e-lakehouse last year. It was pretty nice(rustic if you like that) it was like your typical lake house.
Can get you more info if you want it.

Rustic is great! How close is it to the race site? Send me info, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

It is about two mile away from Gunstock (expo) and about two miles from Ellocoya (race site).
I will get you the info.

I stayed at the Super 8 last year which is pretty far away (bout a 20 min drive) but Im cheap like that. I couldn't find anything that was much closer that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg  (I need them for the race):p

Right now I'm in maintenance and repair mode till the beginning of the year. Riding the mountain bike as much as possible, swimming several times per week and running a little. I have cut way back on the running because of schedule but mainly to try and heal a sore heel. I had PF all season this year and it has settled down a lot but now I have pain on the outside of the same heel. Dr. doesn't know why???

Not very many. I've been running and swimming more than biking. Ran two 1/2 marys as well. I suck at running so that's been my focus.

Second week of Jan starts the "real" training, though

I have other fish to fry before I train for Timberman. Colchester half marathon in February and New Jersey Marathon in the beginning of May.  So just maintenance for me right now in swimming and bike.

swim: once a week 2000yds.

bike: 2-3 hrs on the trainor a week if that...(been slacking lately)

running: two short runs of 3-6 miles and a long 10-12 miler...marathon plan starts mid January

off season kind of plan - in the 5-10 hour per week range.

some weeks have not gone swimming at all - but trying to get in at least once per week - that will increase to 2-3 in January.

Bike class starts in January which will ramp biking up - class is 2x per week and will do 1-2 on my own

started training for Hyannis half marathon this week - so increasing run training...

Planning to use the week of 12/28 as a training week to kick things off....

I've been doing a lot of biking, little to no swimming, and just picking up running again after being off for 3 months.  I'm going to kick it in gear in January.

I stayed with Fred at the lake house. It was great.  It sleeps a lot so it may be expensive if you don't have a big crew going with you.  This year we're staying at the lazy E motor Inn (same owner)

http://www.lazyemotorinn.com/

I would call up and make arrangements somewhere soon.

I would suggest to stay around 6-8 hrs max for the next 2-3 months and you will be good. No need to log any crazy hours right now unless you have the time, background and desire. Still training 10+ hrs right now might equal mental fatigue by June/July.

You can focus on one sport at a time for now and do a bit of the other two to maintain fitness and every month switch the focus. That will keep your hrs in check and you can work on improving limiters on each sport. I hope that helps...

I'm in for this race. This will actually be a "home" race for me since I grew up on the northern end of Lake Winnipesaukee. Growing up I had NO idea that a race like this existed so close, of course I had no idea what a triathlon was as well...

This spring I am planning on heading up a bit further up I-93 to the Lincoln/Woodstock area to tackle some bigger climbs up the Kanc, Rt 118, and around Waterville Valley. I'm also pysched to get some OWS in on Squam. I'll post closer to those dates when it gets warmer if anyone wants to join me for some climbing.

I've been doing Jorge's bike plan and trying to run 3 times a week.  I plan on getting back in the pool after the 1st of the year.

Regarding lodging:  Has anyone ever stayed in the camping area? I haven't called yet but that sounds like fun to me!

Call me a wimp but I'd rather have a nice comfy bed the night before a HIM!

I agree but I never sleep quite as well in a hotel bed anyway but more importantly I'm trying to go cheap if I can.

Plus, it seems like it would be an "old school" type an experience.

Oh who am I kidding I don't sleep well the night before any race..but I'd still rather "pretend"  on a nice comfy bed. "Old School" So are you saying you'd like to use  a gearless Schwinn for the bike part of the race? How about PF flyer sneakers?

..depending on your age you may have no clue what Im talking about!Embarassed

yeah but there is a big difference between tossing on a bed with sheets  and a bathroom a few steps away and being mosquito fodder and dirt ridden....

I am done with my camping days - will rough it all day long but at night I want a good bed and bathroom!!!
