Danica gets racy (Page 2)

yea!  most women in bikinis look so natural when having their pictures taken almost neked next to a sports car.  what a poser!

Annoyed. I feel annoyed. I always feel annoyed when it just isn't good enough to kick some azz doing a good job at whatever it is, a chick also has to p0rn it up on a car/cycle/couch whatever. No one ever says to the guys "hey, come over here and pull your pants down and sit on this car for your interview."  

I don't watch nascar, but I would have a difficult time believing that there aren't plenty of chicks who do like nascar and who would be more than happy to check out the goods on the hot lookin' male drivers. Pure statistical averages would point to at least some of them being worth airbrushing. 

For the record, I am all for checking out hawt bods wherever they can be found, just make it equal opportunity. Puttin' on the flame proof panties now.

 yeh, i get what you are saying, but i think the issues are:

1.) you don't have to be in a bikini draped across a car to be beautiful

2.) the double standard, like the above poster stated, you don't see athlete (or nascar) men in similarly sexual shoots.  you'll see them in their wranglers, but that is not the same

it's just a confusing issue for me.

Her skin tone alone shows the massive amount of airbrushing they did. It almost looks plastic. As someone else said the "eating crackers in bed" rule applies here.

Of course the crackers might help keep her from whining......

Is it really confusing?  It's all about money.

Men will pay money to buy this magazine with the pictures.  Men will go to the SI site and increase SI's page views, which means more money the advertisers on the site pay.  Danica gets paid money for doing the shoot.

Women, on the other hand, won't flock in the droves that men do to the website, or buy as many magazines as the men do, ergo, no pictures of nascar men in wranglers.

I don't see what is so confusing about it.

 i am not confused by why it happens.  i get the supply and demand thing.  I am confused how to reconcile the part of me that feel like a woman should be proud to be sexy and successful and the part of me that feels like she is letting down women by being another sex object.

Danica has a nice bod, but by all accounts she's a total b!tch.  She's definitely been airbrushed, although I do think that's roughly how fit she is.  The skin looks weird though...

(Also, she doesn't race Nascar.  She drives an Indy car.  She's pretty good compared to the women who have come before her.)

I think you underestimate women here!  Women's Magazines splattered with sex this and sex that across the front page sell like crazy...Vogue, Cosmo, Marie Claire, etc. 

I tell you what...if there were more Ads/Magazine articles/Commercials with some of my favorite male athletes almost nude, I wouldn't complain!

btw...I like Danica Patrick.  I think she's beautiful and classy (and she doesn't even have size DD tubes, usually a requirement for most men). 

Haha.  No kidding.  Someone up above explained it well and made the same or similar point as this:  When ladies start using their money to fund a multi-billion dollar industry based on nude or racy pics of men, then they'll be plenty of racy pics of men everywhere we look.  There is no "double standard" there is only business differences.
